31: Chapter 31 Arrangements for the Plantation

Amidst Ross's endless rambling and muttering, he unconsciously arrived at Old Wizard Pulang's advanced plantation.

Every blade of grass and tree here was already very familiar to Ross.

Ross walked to the laboratory in the center of the plantation and headed toward the cold storage on the first floor.

It was as cold here as it had been on previous days.

"There is still about a week left, and feeding Professor Pulang's little pets during this time is naturally not a problem. Afterwards, I'll need to brief the Professor and see how to arrange this job."

"After all, the reward of 300 magic stones per month is quite tempting. I certainly can't let these magic plants go hungry due to negligence... Come to think of it, I haven't seemed to see Professor Pulang around lately."

After Ross opened the iron door of the cold storage, the cold air inside mixed with the warm external air, and a significant amount of cold mist surged out from the doorway.

When the cold mist dissipated, Ross's vision became clear.

He walked straight over to the iron rack holding the mana Gulu pigs.

As a kind of meat livestock long domesticated in the wizarding world, Gulu pigs—

Not only was their weight at slaughter heavier than ordinary magical beasts, but their meat was also quite delicious, making them good feed for raising magical beasts or carnivorous magic plants.

During the long domestication process, the originally ordinary Gulu pigs were just ordinary animals, but with faster reproduction rates and greater endurance.

However, after the early introduction of Gulu pigs, this population underwent beneficial changes after long-term contact with mana.

Instead of producing adverse reactions, they quickly adapted to environmental changes, producing a beneficial alteration where the meat contained a trace of mana.

The cost of these mana Gulu pigs was extremely low, making them almost the cheapest magical beast meat.

They were also a staple feed kept in cold storage.

Of course, in the free cafeteria meals of the academy's canteen, dried meat prepared from Gulu pigs would occasionally appear.

It's just that Ross rarely tried this type of food.

After advancing to a level 3 wizard, simply by absorbing mana, Wizard Apprentices could almost stop consuming ordinary food altogether.

These Gulu pigs were not light in weight. Skillfully casting [Hand of Magic], Ross picked up the cleaver and swiftly chopped the entire pig's body into meat segments of various sizes.

"Although the digestive capacity of predatory magic plants is not weak, their bodies are still plant structures."

"Although these magic plants belong to the Official Wizard tier, they are still castrated extraordinary plants."

"Under Professor Pulang's domestication, these magic plants have gradually lost their wild nature from the wild."

"Even their digestive capacity has degraded to a certain extent. If Professor Pulang didn't have other uses for them, these magic plants probably wouldn't survive long in the wild..."

After feeding the magical beast meat to the predatory magic plants in the underground experimental cages, Ross quickened his pace and walked to the location of his five-mu magic field.

Looking from afar, Ross could see those six orcs working in the magic field, basically in groups of two orcs.

One beast was shoveling away the weeds in the magic field, while the other orc threw the cleared debris into the handcart behind him.

"Working in groups of two orcs is indeed more efficient. It seems that during the days I was away, these orcs didn't slack off—not that they would dare anyway."

"After all, affected by the spell [Slave Branding], once the master asks, they cannot lie, and naturally they wouldn't dare to slack off."

"Besides, as the specialty of summoning-school wizards, this [Slave Branding] not only serves to bind these slaves."

"Under long-term effects, it will gradually merge with the slaves' mental power."

"Under the influence of the spell, these slaves will gradually lose their strong, independent self-awareness and be reduced to the master's possessions, which can be considered an otherworldly enslavement method."

Seeing Ross's arrival, the slave he called "Niu Yi" quickly put down the work in his hands.

And uttering a stream of gibberish beast language, he summoned the remaining five orcs to kneel before Ross.

Watching these slaves kowtowing vigorously, and seeing that the Water Lily Magic Plants in the magic field had begun to thrive, Ross judged in his heart that purchasing this batch of orc slaves this time was a wise choice.

Willing to endure hardship, tough, and resilient, and once branded, obedient and proactive.

"No wonder quite a few wizards keep some alien races as slaves or pets."

"So obedient, with ownership belonging to a single master, tsk tsk," Ross muttered to himself in his heart.

Ross casually waved for "Niu Yi" to get up and communicated some matters with him using mental power.

Such as "Good job", "Managed very well", "Keep things as usual for the coming days", and "If there is anything you don't understand, you can find the plantation's Goblin Supervisor".

Since these slaves performed well, Ross wouldn't need to come check on them frequently.

It's just that he still had the trump card of "mana microorganisms" in his hands which could boost the Water Lily Magic Plant, so he still needed to make good use of it.

In Professor Pulang's experimental center, there were quite a few instruments and equipment that could serve as tools to conduct in-depth research on "mana microorganisms".

It was just that Ross hadn't been able to stop in the previous days, nor did he have too much energy to conduct in-depth research on these "tiny life forms".

Coupled with having to team up at the end of the month to go to "Boulder Town" to investigate the abnormal phenomenon of mortals disappearing, the time on his hands was even tighter.

"Truly, when a wizard thinks, either time flies or magic stones fly."

"No wonder one of the conditions for an Official Wizard to advance is that their mental power scale must reach 10,000 points of mental power."

"If it were a frail mortal thing, how could it withstand high-intensity research and thought leaps?"

For some mortals, simply doing two things at the same time would probably make them flustered.

If the matters handled were slightly more complex, there was a high possibility that various low-level errors would occur, causing things and projects to get stuck.

Before the end of the month, his mental power could probably still be increased by more than 20 points relying on the Meditation Method, and with the assistance of the water lily lotus seeds, pushed to the limit it was estimated to reach 30 points.

Coupled with the cultivation from previous days, the strength of his mental power at the end of the month had a chance to reach around 550.

"It's still a bit slow. It would be great if I could control the system to extract [juanyang flower liquid]."

"The effect of a single drop was quite prominent. It's just that the probability of the system extracting it was still a bit small; in most cases, it was just some magic stones."

Although if other apprentices knew about Ross's "cheating" method of acquiring magic stones, they would definitely go crazy.

The magic stones they earned through hard work in a day might not even be as many as what Ross could casually draw and obtain every day.

But what did that have to do with Ross? After all, there were too many geniuses in the wizarding world.

As long as Ross didn't leak a large amount of magic stones from unknown sources all at once, these magic stones wouldn't attract other people's attention.

Especially after Ross had Professor Pulang as a mentor, no one would dare to question the source of his magic stones even more.

In case they were bestowed by Ross's mentor, could other apprentices possibly go and question an Official Wizard?

If that were the case, even in today's relatively peaceful era, those people probably wouldn't come to a good end.
