32: Chapter 32 Wind Chimes, Supervisors and Communication

These "mana microorganisms" cannot be left idle in my hands; there is still time before heading to "Boulder Town".

"Although I cannot conduct more detailed research, at least my conditions now are much better than when I first cultivated these 'little guys'."

"With an Official Wizard's laboratory for me to use, as long as I adjust the laboratory equipment, I can cultivate a new batch of "mana microorganisms" before leaving the academy."

"By the time I return, they will be almost ready to use, not wasting any time at all."

While Ross was mentally arranging what to do with his upcoming time, he headed toward the wooden house of the Goblin Supervisor.

As Professor Pulang's plantation supervisor, although the goblin was not a wizard, he still held a fairly high status within Professor Pulang's plantation.

It could be said that before Ross came in, aside from Professor Pulang, the Goblin Supervisor could be described as below one person and above tens of thousands.

Therefore, he also had his own independent residence.

It was located in the southern corner of the plantation, near the exit, where there was a wooden house.

Although not large, the surroundings were clean and tidy, obviously the result of the owner living here constantly cleaning it.

The so-called "below one person and above tens of thousands" was naturally a teasing remark, although in Ross's hometown, there was a similar idiom.

But in the academy, the status of apprentices was still higher than such slaves, even if they were subordinates of an Official Wizard.

It was just that no Wizard Apprentice would try to provoke a subordinate of an Official Wizard.

Therefore, it could also be said that the status of the Goblin Supervisor relied firmly on the Official Wizard Old Wizard Pulang.

Without Professor Pulang's consent, he would instantly drop to the same status as other slaves.

It was just that this alien goblin possessed some cleverness, and could be considered somewhat wise among the goblin community.

For a long time, he had managed Professor Pulang's advanced plantation in an orderly manner, and no major mishaps had occurred before Ross came, so he was quite trusted by Professor Pulang.

Of course, Ross did not come here to make trouble for this "Supervisor".

In fact, during the days since Ross acknowledged Professor Pulang as his mentor and stepped into the plantation, Ross had received a lot of care from the Goblin Supervisor.

This Goblin Supervisor not only personally led Ross through every corner of the plantation, but also explained the rules of the plantation to Ross one by one in detail.

Fearing that he would explain too fast and cause Ross to not remember, he even gave Ross a "Plantation Code".

This was a book summarizing the plantation rules similar to the goblin's own notes, including slave management, which Ross learned about from this "Code".

Otherwise, Ross would not have directly gone to the slave market to buy slaves when trying to utilize the magic fields within the plantation.

Including the placement of slaves, food, washing, and so on—if not for the help of this "Goblin Supervisor", Ross would have really had to exert a lot of effort for these trivial matters.

He couldn't possibly arrange for the orc slaves to stay in his own residence. Although his residence was spacious, it was still some distance from the plantation.

Bringing orc slaves to the plantation every day, or letting them travel back and forth alone.

Ross didn't worry about the safety of other students in the academy.

But he worried that these orcs might anger a wizard under unknown circumstances, and even a Wizard Apprentice would be a trouble.

Not long after stepping near the southern wooden house, the "Mana Wind Chimes" planted in this area made a jingling sound with Ross's arrival.

The "Mana Wind Chimes" belonged to the category of "apprentice-level magical plants".

Usually, tillers grew from a mother plant, and by maturity, they would grow full of vine branches hanging with "pink bells".

At the same time, weak and tiny root systems and fine roots would spread and grow underground.

When encountering a strange creature approaching, stepping on the root system beneath their feet would cause the "Mana Wind Chimes" to make some noise, reminding the owner of someone approaching.

It was generally a magical plant used by wizards for warning and decoration. The scene when it was in full bloom was quite spectacular and beautiful.

Therefore, before Ross walked up to the door, the Goblin Supervisor opened the wooden door of the cabin.

When the goblin saw Ross arriving, he couldn't help but walk quickly up to Ross.

"Respected Lord Ross, peace be upon you. Had I known you were coming, I certainly would have greeted you in advance. Please follow me into the wooden house to rest for a while, so we can discuss any arrangements in detail."

The Goblin Supervisor said with a humble expression and cautious care.

"Coming over today is nothing major; it's just that I haven't been able to see Professor Pulang these past days, and some matters cannot be reported to him, so I came to your place, Supervisor, to ask around."

Ross looked at the cautious appearance of the goblin before him and said slowly.

Seeing that Ross was not here to "call him to account", the Goblin Supervisor immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Then he quickly set off, inviting Ross to enter his wooden house first.

The interior decoration was quite simple, except that one wall was filled with books and notes.

Observing Ross's line of sight, the Goblin Supervisor gently said:

"These books were given to me by the master to help me better manage matters within the plantation, including some tips and details on magical plant cultivation, knowledge on construction and soil improvement, as well as my own notes."

No wonder the mentor trusted this goblin so much; although slaves would obey their master's orders, initiative in learning like this was truly rare.

Moreover, some of the knowledge here would be rather difficult for mortals to learn. However, as an alien lifeform, the goblin naturally possessed a substantial magical bloodline in his veins.

When studying magical knowledge, he wouldn't encounter a "Mana Barrier"—which were symptoms like "vomiting", "mental abnormality", "amnesia", and so on that mortals experienced upon seeing massive amounts of magical knowledge.

Looking at such a "hardworking" Goblin Supervisor, it was impossible for Ross not to feel envious, but this was a slave trained single-handedly by his mentor.

Even if Professor Pulang was willing to give him to Old Wizard Pulang, he himself still had a sense of propriety.

"Not bad, not bad. It seems you have handled all the matters entrusted to you by the mentor quite well."

"My coming here this time was not at the mentor's instigation, but rather I have some personal matters to discuss with you," Ross paused before saying.

This wasn't Ross deliberately keeping him in suspense; in fact, because the whereabouts of an Official Wizard were not something Ross could control, and he had become Professor Pulang's disciple for less than a month.

After obtaining the report on the "mana microorganisms", Professor Pulang didn't know where he went, only telling Ross during their last meeting that there would be a "big harvest".

Consequently, Ross didn't even have the opportunity to ask Mentor Pulang for experience when wanting to take on external academy commissions.

"I am going to leave the academy for a period at the end of the month."
