208: Avenging the Dead, Knights Templar

Inside the Holy Light Tower.

A team of Professionals, grouped in threes, patrolled the pure white corridors.

They were all clad in golden armor, draped in white cloaks, looking heroic and sacred.

These people were members of one of the oldest organizations of the Professionals era, the Knights Templar.

"I have to be on duty on the day of the competition... I wanted to watch the broadcast of the event."

Hearing the Pope's words of encouragement to the contestants from outside, a young Holy Knight muttered softly.

"Mike, during your watch, don't be distracted."

The middle-aged Knight walking in front said sternly.

He had graying temples, but his hair was neatly combed.

His demeanor was rigid and very serious.

He was one of the captains of the Knights Templar, a Level 92 Hero Rank Professional, John.

This Rank was already enough to establish one's own sect.

Even in a large army, he was considered one of the top combatants.

But within the Knights Templar, John, a beginner Hero Rank, could only be a high-level leader.

This was an organization where Prodigies gathered.

Even an apprentice Knight would not be below Level 40 at worst.

The young man named Mike was only twenty-five or twenty-six years old, but the longsword at his waist was a Level 50 purple-grade weapon.

In terms of both Rank and equipment, he had reached the endpoint for most Professionals.

But for those Children of Luck who possessed both talent and excellent backgrounds, this was merely the starting gear.

And there was more than one such person in the Knights Templar.

"I heard Qin Yang will also be participating; actually, I really want to see him," another short-haired woman among the three whispered, a blush spreading across her face.

She looked no older than 20, but the staff in her hand was Level 45 equipment.

A Genius like her would be revered elsewhere, but here she was following a Hero Rank Professional, performing the most ordinary patrol duties.

At the mention of Qin Yang, the young man named Mike immediately perked up: "That's right, Qin Yang is definitely the biggest highlight, and Little Monster too! I heard they'll be facing off in an exhibition match!"

At this, he became a little dejected: "Sigh, we're all Geniuses, so why can we only patrol here? I want to spar with them too!"

"Young and impetuous."

John smiled bitterly in his heart.

These apprentice Knights all came from prestigious families and hadn't experienced many setbacks.

Once they truly sparred with a legendary Professional, they would realize how vast the gap was.

John had experienced such a thing.

He once fought against a legendary Necromancer from Kyushu; that young man, despite the Holy Light's suppression, was still able to completely crush him.

"He should have advanced to Monarch Tier by now," John thought to himself.

He remembered that battle; he was so utterly defeated that he doubted the Holy Light, leaving a deep psychological shadow.

As John was thinking, he suddenly felt a strong surge of Undead Qi.

"I'm going to need psychological counseling again; that illusion is back."

John scoffed inwardly.

Ever since his defeat by the Necromancer from Kyushu, he would often feel Undead Qi, all illusions caused by psychological trauma.

But at this moment, Eve, the female apprentice Knight beside him, exclaimed in alarm: "Wait! This is... such strong Undead Qi!"

Hearing this, John was stunned.

Not an illusion?

There really was Undead Qi?

But this was the Holy City, how could there be Undead Qi!?

John immediately became alert.

Only then did he realize that the Undead Qi was everywhere.

"Ah ah ah ah!!!"

Accompanied by a scream.

Inside the Holy Light Tower, intense sounds of fighting erupted.

"Damn it! We've been invaded!"

John roared in anger, about to lead the two apprentice Knights to provide support.

At this moment, arrays of magic circles unfolded before their eyes.

The magic circles glowed with a faint purple light, and wisps of Undead Qi floated out from them.

Click, click, click, click!

The grating sound of bones rubbing together echoed.

Undead skeletons crawled out from the magic circles, as if from the abyss.

Seeing this scene, both Eve and Mike, the two apprentice Knights, were stunned.

They never dreamed that Undead would appear inside the Holy Light Tower.

Fortunately, John was a man who had seen much of the world.

This was not the first time Undead Professionals had invaded the Holy Light Tower.

That year, he was in the Holy Light Tower when the Necromancer from Kyushu beat him so badly he no longer recognized the Holy Light.

"Dawn Holy Light!"

John was quick, drawing his longsword and casting a skill instantly.

The Holy Light glowed from the tip of his sword, transforming into a dazzling miniature sun.

At this moment, the gentle Holy Light turned into severe punishment, becoming a fierce fire that burned all evil.

However, the skeleton soldiers endured the Holy Light's scorching, crawling out of the magic circles, and their numbers grew endlessly, seemingly without limit.

Seeing this scene, John's pupils constricted, recalling an unpleasant memory.

These Undead, unafraid of the Holy Light, had always appeared in his nightmares.

"They are Revenge Undead!"

John whispered, his body trembling involuntarily.

The Undead system is a broad category, with diverse creatures such as skeletons, zombies, and wraiths.

Among them, skeleton soldiers are the weakest and have low growth potential.

In the hands of a Necromancer, they are cannon fodder used to deplete the enemy's mana and stamina.

When encountering Holy Light-type Professionals, a single "Holy Light Illumination" can instantly kill a large group.

But the skeletons before him were different.

These were "Revenge Undead" forged from negative emotions; not only could they resist the Holy Light's destructive power, but they would also become enraged by the Holy Light, erupting with intense Battle Intent.

Moreover, the more negative emotions there were on the battlefield, the stronger the Revenge Undead's combat power became.

"Only a legendary Undead Professional can summon Revenge Undead; could that person have come?"

John thought of his lifelong enemy, and his Aura instantly diminished by half.

Holy Light-type Professionals are not outstanding in combat ability.

Their ability to suppress Undead is due to elemental counteraction.

When encountering Undead that are not afraid of the Holy Light, they have no advantage whatsoever.

Roar!

The skeleton soldiers let out roars of fury.

The Holy Light's scorching further ignited their Battle Intent.

Their roars alone unleashed a powerful deterrent.

And these roars, in turn, jolted John awake.

He shouted to the two apprentice Knights behind him: "I'll stop them, you two run!"

However, what answered him was a strange laugh.

John looked behind him, his eyes instantly splitting with rage.

He saw the two apprentice Knights, their eyes glowing purple, smiling sinisterly.

Clearly, they had been possessed by wraiths!

In the instant John was flustered.

Mike had already lunged with his sword; that longsword, blessed by the Holy Light, was now merely burning with purple flames.

Clang!

John hastily raised his sword to block, shouting: "Mike! You're possessed, wake up!"

"Hehehe!"

Mike laughed maniacally, continuing to swing his longsword in attack.

His swordsmanship at this moment was even more refined than usual.

As John was surprised, another death fireball flew over.

Eve, a Holy Light Bishop, had also transformed into a Necromancer.

Seeing this scene, John couldn't help but feel despair.

To break the wraith possession, one must dispel the wraith with Holy Light.

But the "Revenge-grade" wraiths before him were not afraid of the Holy Light.

Then there was only one way... kill these two apprentice Knights!
