554: Send away in one wave
Thunder rumbled, and the air seemed to solidify, descending with immense pressure.
Watching the Eastern Dragon twist and turn, Marfa once again had the urge to flee.
But where could he escape to?
The dense white lightning had woven itself into a giant net, enveloping the entire battlefield, and even the whole Elf World.
Marfa understood in his heart.
This battle would surely change the Elf World.
It would either be occupied by humans or destroyed by orcs.
"I hope the Demon Eye can pull through."
Marfa looked at the Demon Eye in the sky and prayed silently.
He would rather the Elf World be destroyed than let it fall into human hands.
His only hope now was that the infinitely resurrecting orcs could wear down the humans.
After all, Marfa still hadn't found a way to counter this ability.
As long as the Demon Eye held out, humans and elves were bound to lose!
As Marfa was thinking, he heard a violent explosion.
A silver lightning bolt struck the primeval forest ahead.
The next second, there was a second, a third... followed by countless lightning bolts crashing down, the loud bangs piercing his eardrums and causing a continuous ringing in his ears.
"This forest is actually doing more harm than good."
Marfa shook his head and murmured.
The dense trees had become conductors for the lightning.
The orcs and Night Elves within it were truly suffering.
Thinking of this, Marfa immediately formed a sword-finger gesture, intending to use the Five Elements Power to remove this forest.
However, the moment he sensed the trees he had created, he felt a sharp pain in his head, and his Mental Energy rapidly declined.
"What's going on?"
Marfa quickly interrupted his spell, feeling dizzy and unable to concentrate.
It wasn't until he saw raging silver flames ignite in the primeval forest that he suddenly understood.
The silver lightning striking from above actually contained Huiyue Power!
Huiyue Power was the oldest power in the Elf World.
It was so ancient that it predated the World Tree and the Goddess of Nature.
It could influence the emotions of all things and control their mental world.
No one knew where this power came from or how it was formed.
It was merely a natural totem, worshipped by the Crescent Moon Elves.
And the feedback it gave was to allow the Saintess of the Crescent Moon Elves to wield this power.
Marfa greatly feared this power, so he thought of taking down the Saintess of the Crescent Moon Elves.
Unfortunately, the Saintess harbored a natural aversion towards Marfa.
Marfa tried various methods such as bribery, deception, and coercion, but none succeeded.
Adhering to the principle of destroying what he couldn't obtain, Marfa then thought of replacing the Saintess.
After all, the sister of the Hui Yue Saintess, Aila, had a decent relationship with him.
Although elves had higher attributes than humans.
In terms of schemes and tricks, Marfa had a dimensionality reduction strike against them.
After a series of maneuvers, Marfa easily lured the Hui Yue Saintess into an orc encirclement, and a fierce battle erupted between the two sides.
Marfa seized the opportunity, backstabbed her, and severely wounded the Hui Yue Saintess with one blow.
Unexpectedly, the severely wounded Hui Yue Saintess lost control of her power, and the Hui Yues Fire she unleashed burned to death all the orcs and elves, almost devouring Marfa as well.
Knowing that she could not control the Huiyue Power, the Hui Yue Saintess chose to self-destruct her body to prevent the Hui Yues Fire from spreading.
Marfa was also severely injured, losing a third of his Mental Energy limit, which had not yet recovered.
Moreover, his scheme did not succeed.
Logically, after the Hui Yue Saintess died, her sister would take over the position of Saintess.
But the mysterious Huiyue Power did not appear on Aila.
To this day, she was only an Acting Holy Maiden, merely a symbol of faith.
Everyone found this strange.
They even thought that the Huiyue Power did not recognize Aila.
Now the mystery was revealed.
The previous Hui Yue Saintess, Aier, was not dead!
"It's over, she's back, I'm going to be a public enemy..."
Marfa looked at the sky, his face ashen.
With the return of the Hui Yue Saintess, all his dirty dealings would be exposed.
At that time, not only would the Crescent Moon, Forest, and Dark Elven race consider him a mortal enemy, but even the Night Elves would abandon him!
Although they had betrayed the Goddess of Nature, they still believed in Huiyue Power!
"Demon Eye, orcs, you must hold on..."
Marfa prayed in his heart; he had no other choice now.
He could only hope that the orcs, through repeated deaths, would win this decisive battle.
"Wait!"
"A Night Elf died!"
Marfa was still pinning his hopes on the Demon Eye's power, but he suddenly realized a problem!
The Night Elves who followed him all possessed the Five Elements and had an invisible connection with him.
Just now, he found that all the Night Elves he had sent out had lost contact with him.
They seemed to be... dead?
Marfa looked at the sky in disbelief.
Didn't the Demon Eye convert death into nightmares?
Why didn't it resurrect the Night Elves?
Could it be racial discrimination, not trusting the Night Elves?
"No..."
"Not only the Night Elves, but the orcs haven't been resurrected either!"
Marfa looked around, suddenly startled.
In previous battles, fallen orcs would inexplicably return to the rear, waking from their nightmares.
But now, not a single orc had returned here.
There were only two explanations for this.
One, no orcs had fallen yet.
Two, the fallen orcs were truly dead this time!
Although Marfa was unwilling to admit it, he leaned towards the latter.
The dense silver lightning had turned the sky into a negative.
Under such a fierce attack, how could it be possible that no orcs had fallen?
But... why didn't the Demon Eye resurrect the fallen orcs?
Had it given up?
Just as Marfa was wondering, he heard a mournful roar from the sky.
He looked up and saw the orc High Priest Arnodan, and the Ancient Dragon he rode, both struck by the silver lightning.
Both turned into two silver fireballs, falling into a sea of silver flames.
Seeing this, Marfa immediately looked towards the high platform where Arnodan had previously stood.
If the Demon Eye could resurrect Arnodan, then in the next second, his figure would appear on the platform.
The scene of being struck by lightning just now would only become a nightmare for him.
However, ten seconds passed.
Arnodan's figure still did not appear.
"No way..."
"Did they really get wiped out in one go?"
Marfa's eyes were filled with horror.
He could feel that the Demon Eye was nearing its limit and couldn't keep resurrecting the orcs indefinitely; it could only send as many waves as possible.
As it turned out, this group of orcs couldn't even last one wave!
Splash, splash!
The silver Hui Yues Fire spread through the forest.
This flame would not burn trees, but it could cause all living things in the forest to completely lose consciousness.
Marfa stood before the flameless sea of fire, feeling a piercing pain in his spirit.
Suddenly, he finally understood!
It wasn't that the Demon Eye wouldn't resurrect the orcs, but rather... the orcs whose Mental Energy had been cleansed by the Hui Yues Fire simply couldn't enter the dream world!
... [Retired Emperors: We won't go into detail about Hui Yue's past, as it might affect the pacing. We'll just briefly mention it from Marfa's perspective (no one likes flashback chapters, right?). Because it's simplified, it reads a bit like a running account.]
