Chapter 334 The Last Inspection
"Your aunt is an experienced person,"
"I see very clearly what kind of person Xiao Yu is. He responds to gentleness, not force; he prefers softness over hardness. The more you tense up and refuse to lower your guard, the less he will notice you."
Li Mengyao lowered her head, remaining silent.
Liu Manqing continued, "Be more proactive. Don't wait for him to come to you. You need to let him know that you aren't just some ornament on the bus—you two have a history!"
Li Mengyao raised her head and looked at Liu Manqing.
"I understand, Aunt."
Liu Manqing patted the back of her hand, "Don't just say you understand. I want to see you doing well on this bus..."

On the other side, Wang Mengmeng was completely oblivious to everything else.
Everyone surrounded her, wanting her to demonstrate her Talent, but Wang Mengmeng explained that it consumed her lifespan. Everyone sighed in regret; as expected, powerful Talents all came with an irreversible price.
Zhang Wanyue had already started the vehicle, driving back onto The Highway.
Outside the window was a grey-white sky, with clouds hanging very low. The terrain changed from gravel to concrete, then from concrete to asphalt, and soon they were on the main road.
The surroundings were an endless wasteland, and in front of Chen Yu, only Dr. Qiao remained; she hadn't left.
Her attention, however, remained glued to Chen Yu.
"Chen Yu."
"You really don't have any external injuries."
Qiao Xi shook her head, "But that's not a good thing. Internal injuries capable of causing a coma... I'm afraid..."
Chen Yu was about to speak, but Qiao Xi raised her hand to stop him.
"Don't tell me you're fine."
She shook her head, raised her hand to push up her glasses, and said, "I need to perform a complete physical scan on you with equipment in a spacious, quiet environment."
As she spoke, she was already pulling Chen Yu toward the compartment.
The alloy door closed behind them with a dull thud.
The light in the compartment was dimmer than in the main cabin, with only one warm yellow wall lamp lit.
Chen Yu walked in and shrugged, "Dr. Qiao, I'm actually really fine now."
Qiao Xi shook her head, raised her hand to push up the glasses on the bridge of her nose, then moved her fingers to her collar, unbuttoning her white doctor's coat one by one.
Only then did Chen Yu notice, why was Dr. Qiao wearing professional attire today?
As the buttons came undone, the inner lining was revealed.
"It's a bit hot in the compartment."
The brown inner lining clung tightly to her body. The collar was high, wrapping snugly around her neck. The Fabric was stretched slightly tight across her chest, then tightened abruptly at the waistline, outlining her curves.
She tucked the hem of the inner lining into the waistband of her skirt.
Chen Yu's gaze shifted down an inch.
Black stockings.
She had dressed with particular care: the crispness of the white coat, the form-fitting nature of the brown lining, and the subtlety of the black stockings.
She didn't reveal an extra inch of skin, but every inch that was covered made one want to look twice more than if it were exposed.
"Sit down, Student Chen Yu, it's time to examine your body."
Qiao Xi gave Chen Yu a faint smile.
"Doctor,"
Chen Yu shook his head, "You're not dressed like you're here for an examination today."
Qiao Xi's face flushed instantly; she grabbed Chen Yu's wrist and pulled him toward the bed.
"Sit down."
She said it again, her voice unable to suppress a slight tremor.
Chen Yu was pulled to the bedside and sat down.
Qiao Xi stood in front of him, bent over, raised her hand, unzipped Chen Yu's windbreaker, and lifted the hem of his shirt, exposing his abdomen.
"Relax."
She took a palm-sized instrument from her personal bag.
It had a silver-grey shell with rounded edges, a roughly two-inch LCD screen embedded in the front, and two thin wires trailing from the back, each ending in a sensor electrode.
"This is called a bioimpedance tomography scanner."
"In layman's terms."
"It allows me to see if there is any internal bleeding in your abdominal cavity that the naked eye cannot see."
"Some injuries leave no trace on the body surface, and the patient might not even feel any pain. But once delayed shock occurs, it's all too late..."
She crouched by the bed, the hem of her white coat trailing on the floor, busy working in front of Chen Yu.
Chen Yu, of course, knew he was perfectly fine, so he just cooperated quietly.
"Does it hurt?"
"No."
"How about here?"
"No."
"Here?"
"No."
"Whew..."
Qiao Xi let out a sigh of relief, stood up straight, and put the instrument away.
Then she took a small step forward; Chen Yu was still sitting on the edge of the bed, and her knees were almost touching his legs.
"Student Chen Yu."
She sat sideways into Chen Yu's lap.
She turned her body slightly and leaned her lips toward Chen Yu's ear.
"Next is the final examination."

Time passed in a flash; Chen Yu had been back on the Baby Bus for a full day.
The sky was growing dark, and outside the bus windows was an expanse of wilderness.
The rain had finally stopped; it was no longer falling, and the puddles on The Highway had diminished.
By the time Chen Yu actually sat up from the bed, it was already evening.
He rubbed his temples, turned his head to glance at the still-sleeping Qiao Xi, reached out to pull the blanket up a bit more, then stood up and opened the alloy door of the compartment.
"Chen Yu!"
Li Mengyao was in the back row and was the first to see Chen Yu come out.
She had a stomach full of words, having rearranged and rehearsed what she wanted to say in her mind countless times.
But Chen Yu seemed to always overlook her.
"Hmm."
Chen Yu just gave a slight nod, his footsteps not slowing down at all.
Li Mengyao bit her lip, "You stayed in the compartment for so long; everyone was very worried."
Chen Yu stopped, "Worried about what?"
"Worried about you..."
Li Mengyao said earnestly, "Of course, and also... also Dr. Qiao..."
Chen Yu yawned, "Dr. Qiao gave me a full-body examination, she was too tired so she fell asleep."
As he spoke, Chen Yu leaned back into his seat and adjusted the tilt of the backrest.
Just as he closed his eyes, a fresh fragrance approached him.
When he opened his eyes, Zhang Wanyue was in front of him, "You must be tired, shall I give you a massage?"
Chen Yu nodded and closed his eyes.
Behind him, Wang Mengmeng's loud voice was still chattering away.
"Lu Xiaoyu, you don't know..."
"It was incredibly dangerous at the time! That final boss, whoosh! It was right in front of your face! You couldn't even move! Those eyes of its were as black as two holes!"
"Ah!"
Lu Xiaoyu shrank her neck in fear.
Wang Mengmeng sneered, "But fortunately, who am I, Wang Mengmeng? I didn't even blink! Don't forget my S-Rank Talent, Instant Lock! Time Stop!"
"That boss was just about to pounce, I cast a hold, and it froze right in mid-air! Then Brother Yu went up and slashed it four times—swish, swish, swish, swish—and scattered its ashes!"
