Chapter 359 Inexhaustible Nature

"Chen Yu, that residential area the Class Monitor mentioned is right ahead."

Qiao Xi pointed ahead.

It was a residential area with low-rise buildings and mottled wall paint. Warm light shone from the windows of a few units on the first floor, filtering through old curtains in shadowy, flickering shapes, as if people were walking, talking, or heating up dinner.

It was exactly how an old residential complex should look after nightfall.

Chen Yu walked to the building, where the door was marked [Building 7, Unit 3].

"Knock, knock, knock—"

On the second floor,

there was some rustling inside the room, and then the door opened.

"Brother Yu!!!"

Deng Yuxin opened the door and shouted, but realized the hallway echo was too loud and quickly covered her mouth.

Chen Yu led the others inside and closed the door behind him.

Deng Yuxin whispered: "We originally thought you'd only be gone for an hour, but we didn't expect you to be gone for a full four hours..."

Chen Yu said helplessly: "Something came up."

Li Mengyao also crowded over, wanting to show her concern, but when she looked behind Chen Yu,

she saw a girl looking down and adjusting her skirt.

It was a long red dress with a hemline falling just above her ankles. The fabric was soft, swaying slightly as she bent down. She had a great figure and very fair skin.

Li Mengyao blurted out: "...You brought another one back?"

Mira was stunned: "Another?"

Li Mengyao pursed her lips and quickly waved her hand: "It's nothing, it's nothing, it has nothing to do with you."

She thought silently to herself, 'Why is this newcomer's style... so different from everyone else's? It's more like an aunt's style! But younger!'

Liu Manqing was right behind Li Mengyao, and her thoughts aligned perfectly.

She suddenly felt a sense of crisis too, even though, as Mengyao's foster mother and aunt, she shouldn't have such feelings...

But they appeared nonetheless.

Liu Manqing shook her head, trying to shake off these dirty thoughts.

'It's too hard for Mengyao to stand out and regain Chen Yu's favor.'

'I must help her with this Living Area.'

Zhang Wanyue walked up with a smile: "Hello, don't be scared by us. We're all in the same class as Chen Yu."

Mira looked cautiously at the girls crowding around her.

Chen Yu said indifferently: "She's not one of us; she's just my prisoner."

"Prisoner???"

Wang Mengmeng was stunned.

Chen Yu nodded: "She is the woman of the third leader of the Gold-Swallowing Hall, but since the third leader was taken away by the military, we must find the others from the Gold-Swallowing Hall before the military does."

Zhang Wanyue frowned: "The military? That's going to be a bit difficult..."

Chen Yu walked into the living room and found it was a two-bedroom, one-living-room layout. Theoretically, it definitely wasn't enough space for a dozen people.

But fortunately, there was plenty of bedding in the bus backpack, which had already been spread all over the floor. It was colorful, clean, and actually looked quite cozy.

And it was giving off a pleasant scent.

Further in were two bedrooms, one of which was already made up; it was clearly prepared for Chen Yu.

The other one had nothing prepared.

"Mira, come in with me."

Chen Yu said in a commanding tone.

Mira's eyes flashed with a hint of panic, but she quickly suppressed it, replacing it with a stubborn, unyielding expression.

"...I'm not going."

Everyone in the living room looked at each other.

Chen Yu was somewhat helpless and waved his hand.

Shen Qingci immediately understood.

She slowly extended her hand, and black shadows slowly rose in the corner.

"We helped you escape the Military District's pursuit."

"Do you think you have any right to say no?"

Mira bit her lip and took a deep breath: "Don't waste your effort. Getting me to betray Brother Jiang is impossible!"

Chen Yu said coldly: "Then I'd like to try."

After saying that,

Chen Yu grabbed Mira and pulled her into the room: "...Let go of me!"

The end of her voice was accompanied by the muffled sound of the door closing.

Outside in the living room, the women were silent for a moment.

Wang Mengmeng asked in a low voice: "What is Brother Yu going to do with the prisoner next?"

Li Mengyao rolled her eyes at her: "Isn't that obvious?"

Zhang Wanyue coughed: "Um... anyway, since everyone is unable to sleep, why don't we play cards?"

Deng Yuxin raised her hand: "I support that!"

Separated by a door————

Chen Yu dragged Mira and pushed her onto the edge of the bed.

Her knees went weak, and she fell backward into the floral quilt.

She lifted her head.

The hem of her long red dress spread out over most of the edge of the bed.

"Do you think this will make me listen to you?"

Mira still said defiantly: "Brother Jiang is ten, a hundred, a thousand times better than you. Even if you kill me..."

"I won't kill you until you tell me the secrets of the Gold-Swallowing Hall."

Chen Yu spoke directly: "But I believe that after tonight, you should be willing to talk."

"?"

Mira was stunned: "What do you mean?"

Chen Yu took off his windbreaker and shirt and tossed them casually on the bedside: "Back at Yan Garden, didn't you feel unsatisfied?"

"You..."

Mira scrambled backward twice: "Chen Yu! Let me tell you! The method you're thinking of will never get a single word about the Gold-Swallowing Hall out of my mouth!"

"I don't believe that."

Chen Yu smiled faintly, but in Mira's eyes, this was no different from a beast.

She suddenly calmed down: "How about this! Chen Yu! Let's make a deal! I'll reveal things about the Gold-Swallowing Hall to you, but you have to help me..."

"Shh."

Chen Yu said in a low voice: "You still haven't grasped the situation. You are a prisoner. Now, let's begin the interrogation."

...

...

It was eleven o'clock at night.

The streets were absurdly empty.

The streetlights were still on,

but everything felt eerie.

Four people walked on the sidewalk, with only the sound of their footsteps.

Leading them was a man in his early thirties with a crew cut.

Behind him followed a Skinny Tall Guy, a fat man, and a young woman with a ponytail.

They kept close to each other, clearly very nervous.

"...This street is too quiet; I'm feeling a bit panicked!"

"No kidding, of course it's quiet during curfew! Who the hell would be out wandering around after eleven! Except for us!"

"Anyone else wouldn't do this job for any amount of money. I'm actually starting to regret it!"

The crew-cut man operated his chat window, taking photos while speaking in a low voice: "That's because the pay is good enough. The employer said if we film four full streets and transmit it in real-time, we get twenty Energy Cores. That's enough to upgrade our Vehicle twice!"

The intersection was not far ahead.

The shadows cast by the surrounding buildings were cut into sharp triangles.

In the very center of the intersection, directly under a streetlight, someone was crouching. They were hunched over, arms hugging their knees, head buried very low, and their whole body was trembling slightly.

The four of them stopped at the same time.

"Is... is that a person?"

"Stop talking, film! Film quickly! This might be our chance to negotiate for more money!"
