63: Keep moving forward

Let's turn back time to when Karl was still thinking.

Members of the logistics squad were providing corresponding combat supplies to everyone in the three combat squads.

Fang Yun was talking to Karl and Valentine next to him.

Just at this moment, a member of the second combat squad quietly opened a private communication channel.

As soon as the communication channel was established, an irritable voice came through.

"Damn it! Are you messing with me?!"

"The defense line I set up according to the intelligence you gave me was actually breached so easily?!"

"You haven't forgotten that I still have leverage on you, right?"

"You'd better give me an explanation for this!"

Hearing the angry questioning voice from the person on the other side of the communication channel, the face of the second combat squad member on this side couldn't help but sink.

After a moment of silence, he adjusted his mindset and said to the person on the other side of the channel:

"We're in this together now. I definitely won't betray you."

"Therefore, I advise you not to betray me either!"

"Otherwise, at worst, we'll both go down!"

Listening to the increasingly heavy breathing from the other side of the channel, he continued:

"I couldn't have imagined things turning out like this."

"Who knew a 'helper' of unknown origin could be so powerful."

"The top priority now is not to argue here, but to quickly find a way to eliminate this threat."

As soon as he finished speaking, a cold laugh came from the other side of the channel.

"Heh heh. Eliminate?"

"Do I not know that I need to eliminate him?"

"The problem is, he's so powerful, how can we eliminate him?!"

The person on this side of the channel was silent for a few more seconds, then spoke, with a hint of madness in his tone:

"Didn't you get a batch of bombs before?"

"Bury all the bombs underground as a trap, then use those lackeys as bait to lure him into the trap."

"Finally, detonate all the bombs and send him to hell!"

"I refuse to believe that a simultaneous explosion of high-yield military bombs still can't kill him?!"

The person on the other side of the channel seemed startled by this method and was temporarily at a loss for words.

After a moment of silence, the voice from the other side of the channel continued:

"Your method is a bit crazy."

"Aureole Valley has been developed and excavated for such a long time. If the location for placing the bombs isn't chosen well, the entire valley could collapse if we're not careful."

"At that time, everyone in the valley, without exception, will be finished."

The person on this side of the channel sneered upon hearing this:

"Heh. You make it sound like a real concern."

"Aureole Valley is your base of operations. Do you mean to say you wouldn't know where to place the bombs?"

"To put it bluntly, you just can't bear to sacrifice too many subordinates."

"However, that 'helper' from who knows where is extremely powerful. If you want to kill him, you have to be ruthless and use any means necessary!"

The person on the other side of the channel recalled the scene he had just seen on the surveillance feed, narrowed his eyes, and stopped probing.

"...You have a point."

"Then let's do it your way."

"As the price for the intelligence error, you must 'cooperate' with us three more times."

"Furthermore, the targets must be lucrative."

The person on this side of the channel ground his teeth together somewhat resentfully, his teeth rubbing up and down, making a few gnashing sounds.

However, despite the immense indignation in his heart, in the end, he could only let out a long sigh and reluctantly chose to agree:

"Alright. Three times it is."

After speaking, his tone paused, and after a few seconds, he continued to speak:

"Let's end our chat here. We're about to set off."

"Aside from that 'helper', the rest of the intelligence is still reliable."

"Set up the bomb trap, and then proceed according to the original plan."

"That's all."

"Remember, we're in this together now. So, we must kill that 'helper'. Otherwise, we'll all be finished."

The person on this side of the channel actively closed the communication channel, and before closing it, added one last instruction:

"Oh, right, don't forget to hide the bombs deeper, preferably with mechanical triggers and a layer of anti-detection fabric. You know why."

Looking at the communication interface that had turned grayscale, the person on the other side of the communication channel fell into thought:

"There's no better way now."

"Based on that 'helper''s performance just now, he definitely has quite advanced subdermal armor installed."

"Besides military bombs, only technical sniper rifles can break through his defense."

"Since that's the case, let's make two preparations."

"Have someone with a sniper rifle keep a close watch on the bomb trap. If he's not killed by the explosion, use the sniper rifle to snipe him."

"Although this sacrifices the sniper rifle as a point of firepower, killing that 'helper' is more important."

"..."

"I need to go to the underground spring source in advance to prepare for escape."

Thinking of this, the person on the other side of the channel reviewed the tasks to be done next, then called his subordinates and began to act.

...

Let's shift the focus back to Fang Yun.

As the Buckle Family's convoy continuously advanced towards the heart of Aureole Valley, everyone's mindset also became more cautious.

Fang Yun drove "thunder", following steadily behind Glenn's vehicle.

Although Fang Yun felt a bit speechless about the System playing notification sounds based on its mood, he believed the System wouldn't mess things up.

The Buckle Family's convoy passed through the small corridor from the entrance of Aureole Valley to its heart, arriving at the first checkpoint for entering the heart – the watchtowers.

There were two watchtowers, standing on the left and right sides, both approximately 5 meters tall.

Each watchtower had a guard room at the very top.

In the guard room of the left watchtower were three Nightwalkers with assault rifles, and on the right, two Nightwalkers with light machine guns.

The Buckle Family's convoy gradually spread out according to the previous battle formation, finally stopping in front of the watch post.

Unlike the Nightwalkers at the entrance who were clearly lackeys at first glance, the Nightwalkers on the watchtowers looked much stronger, and their equipment had become more sophisticated.

"Why does this smell like an RPG game?"

Fang Yun stopped his vehicle and watched as the Buckle Family members began their attack.

Glenn, Valentine, Toke, and others simultaneously started their vehicles and charged towards the watchtowers.

As soon as they entered range, the Nightwalkers couldn't wait to start shooting at them.

Glenn, Valentine, Toke, and the others drove very flexibly, weaving and covering each other, using flashy maneuvers to dodge the bullets fired by the Nightwalkers on the watchtowers.

Seeing how well they coordinated, Fang Yun knew that this was already a sure win.
