144: Chapter 143 The Ancestor's Defeat

Pincer attack from both sides.

The Old Ancestor's face grew paler and paler, and the veins on his forehead bulged.

His Qi was depleting at a visible rate, and his body was decaying at a visible rate.

But he did not retreat.

Boom!

The light shield shattered.

Tu Gang's fist slammed solidly into the Old Ancestor's chest, causing him to spurt a mouthful of blood and fly backward.

Granny Bone's bone spikes followed closely behind; three spikes pierced his left arm, two pierced his right leg, and one grazed his cheek, leaving a deep bloodstain.

The Old Ancestor tumbled a few times in the air, barely steadying his body.

He was covered in blood, his Dao robe was shredded into rags, his hair hung disheveled over his shoulders, and his breath was extremely weak.

His left arm could no longer be raised, his right leg was going limp, and his internal organs were screaming in pain.

Yet he remained suspended there, not falling.

Tu Gang carried his black hammer and walked over slowly, each step filled with smugness: "Old thing, how is it? Can you still hold on?"

The Old Ancestor did not speak.

Tu Gang charged up again.

He raised his black hammer high and brought it down, the wind whistling and space trembling.

The Old Ancestor gritted his teeth and dodged to the side; the black hammer grazed his shoulder as it slammed down, tearing away a piece of flesh.

He let out a muffled groan and struck back with a palm against Tu Gang's chest; although the force was weak, it still forced Tu Gang to retreat two steps.

Granny Bone's bone spikes arrived again.

This time there were fifteen of them, piercing from all directions and sealing off all his retreat paths.

The Old Ancestor raised his final light shield, which was as thin as a cicada's wing and seemed ready to shatter at the slightest touch.

The bone spikes struck the light shield, causing it to vibrate violently as cracks multiplied.

He desperately injected Qi to keep the shield from breaking.

But his Qi was running out.

Five bone spikes pierced through the light shield.

Two pierced his shoulder, one pierced his waist, one grazed his arm, and he barely dodged the last one.

Blood gushed from his wounds, staining his Dao robe red.

His left arm could no longer be raised at all, his right leg began to go limp, and his whole body was swaying precariously.

Tu Gang laughed loudly: "Old thing, you can't make it anymore, right?"

The Old Ancestor did not respond.

He just hung there, covered in blood, his breath weak, yet his back remained straight.

Tu Gang raised his black hammer and approached step by step.

Granny Bone also floated over, the ghost fire in the skull on her bone staff flickering, emitting a ghostly blue light.

"Old thing," Tu Gang grinned hideously, "I'll send you on your way!"

He raised the black hammer, and the barbs on the hammerhead glinted coldly in the darkness.

Just then, a ray of starlight rose from the ground.

The starlight was very faint, almost invisible in the darkness of the ten-thousand-foot-high sky.

It pierced through layers of darkness, through the whistling wind, through the sky-filling Devilish Qi, and shot straight into the depths of the firmament.

Tu Gang's movements paused slightly, and he looked up at the starlight, frowning: "What is that?"

Granny Bone also narrowed her eyes, looking at the starlight, a trace of doubt flashing in her cloudy, aged eyes.

She looked down at the ground, then back at the starlight, and shook her head: "I don't know."

"Should we deal with it?"

Granny Bone withdrew her gaze and refocused on the Old Ancestor: "Kill this old thing first. We'll deal with what's below later."

Tu Gang nodded, and the black hammer was raised again.

The Old Ancestor looked at the starlight and was slightly stunned.

He did not recognize this light, did not know where it came from, and did not know what it meant.

But its direction was the Qingxuan Sect, the land he had guarded for eight hundred years.

He looked at the light for a moment, then withdrew his gaze.

Tu Gang's black hammer had already reached above his head, the wind whistling, with nowhere to dodge.

He raised his hand, using his last bit of Qi to meet it.

With a boom!

The Old Ancestor fell from the sky.

His body, like a shattered rock, fell straight down from the ten-thousand-foot-high sky.

The wind whistled in his ears, causing his tattered Dao robe to flap violently.

He was covered in blood, with almost no intact flesh on his body; the powerful recovery ability of the Nascent Soul Stage was working, but the speed was too slow.

His Qi was exhausted, his essence blood was mostly overdrawn, and his body could only be maintained by the most basic strength of the Physical Body.

Those wounds healed a little, only to be torn open again during the fall, over and over.

He did not know how long he had been falling.

His consciousness was beginning to blur, and the world before his eyes flickered, sometimes seeing the sky full of starlight, sometimes seeing boundless darkness.

Then he saw the mountain gate of the Qingxuan Sect.

The Mountain Guardian Array was in operation.

The light shield covered the entire Qingxuan Sect; although it was much thinner than before and the light was much dimmer, it was indeed operating.

The array patterns flowed slowly on the light shield, and starlight fell continuously from the sky, injecting into the array base.

He saw several figures busy near the array base in the distance; they were Disciples from the Alchemy Hall, embedding Spirit Stones into the array base.

There were no Devilish Cultivators on the ground.

Not a single one.

Only the Disciples of the Qingxuan Sect were cleaning up the battlefield, treating the wounded, and collecting the remains.

He saw Fu Qingyun; the kid had lost an arm and was standing on the ruins, leaning on a broken sword;

he saw Fu Qingyun, that fat guy was covered in blood but was grinning;

he saw Liu Ruyan, she was leaning on Fu Qingyun's shoulder;

he saw Han Song, he was holding half an iron rod, standing beside someone—

Yun Ming.

The kid was sitting on the ground, his face pale as paper, his breath so weak it was almost imperceptible.

But beside him hovered an unfurled scroll, on which starlight flowed, connecting with the stars in the sky.

The Old Ancestor wanted to smile, but coughed up a mouthful of blood.

His body was still falling, the speed getting faster and faster, and the mountain gate of the Qingxuan Sect was getting closer.

But he no longer had the strength to control his body, unable to even move a finger.

He just smashed straight toward the ground.

"Old Ancestor! It's the Old Ancestor!"

"The Old Ancestor is back!"

Someone on the ground exclaimed.

Yun Ming raised his head and saw the figure falling from the sky.

He mustered his last bit of strength and pointed a finger.

The map of mountains and rivers hovering in mid-air shook violently, and a ray of starlight shot out from the scroll, turning into a huge palm that caught the Old Ancestor steadily.

The starlight palm held the Old Ancestor, descended slowly, and placed him on the bluestone ground at the peak of the main mountain.

Several Disciples rushed over immediately.

Someone stuffed a healing pill into his mouth, someone used Qi to stop his bleeding, and someone tore his robe to clean the wounds.

The Old Ancestor lay there, gasping for air, each breath causing blood foam to spill from the corners of his mouth.

But his eyes were open, looking at the sea of stars above, at the array patterns still flowing, and at the flustered Disciples around him.

High above the sky, Tu Gang and Granny Bone chased down.

Two black shadows fell like meteors, carrying monstrous killing intent.

Tu Gang carried his black hammer, his face ferocious: "Old thing, you ran quite fast!"

Granny Bone leaned on her bone staff, her cloudy old eyes full of cold light: "Today, no one in the Qingxuan Sect will survive."

The two landed above the Qingxuan Sect, no more than a hundred feet from the Mountain Guardian Array.

Tu Gang raised his black hammer and struck down with one blow!

The black Devilish Qi turned into a ferocious tiger, roaring as it crashed into the light shield.

Boom!

The light shield did not move at all.

In front of the starlight, the Devilish Qi was like snow meeting boiling water, dissipating instantly.

Tu Gang was shaken back several steps by the recoil, his web between thumb and index finger splitting, blood flowing freely.

He looked down at his hand, his face full of disbelief.

Granny Bone's expression darkened; she raised her bone staff high, and bone spikes poured down like a rainstorm!

Each bone spike carried the full-force blow of a Late Nascent Soul Stage cultivator, enough to turn several mountain peaks into abysses.

The bone spikes struck the light shield, emitting a series of dense explosions; the starlight flickered, and the bone spikes shattered one after another, turning into powder.

The light shield remained unmoved.
