60: Chapter 60: Chronicles of the Xuanhuang Continent
Tianbei Region.
Completely different from the prosperity of the South Heaven, it was frozen in ice and snow, never seeing the light of day year-round. Yet, because of this, it gave birth to some extremely eerie legacies. There was the "Lingxu Ice Palace" hidden beneath glaciers, the "Silent Snow Cliff" where snow demons were kept as servants, and "Mystic Ice City" floating above a ten-thousand-foot ice abyss, whose lord was an ice phoenix that had lived for tens of thousands of years.
Yun Ming watched intently, his fingers trembling slightly.
He had never imagined that this world was actually so vast.
He continued to flip through the pages.
East Xuan Region.
Daoist Lord Wanfa had drawn a very detailed sketch here—mountains like dragons, winding into the sea, with jade palaces and pavilions faintly visible amidst the swirling mist. A small note on the side read: "This region has many immortal mountains and blessed lands, and its Sect legacies are mostly known for Alchemy and Artifact Refining. There are two most famous ones: one is called the 'Xuanhuang Pill Mansion,' specializing in Alchemy, whose Disciples travel the world, where a single pill can be exchanged for a city; the other is the 'Shenduan Sect,' specializing in Artifact Refining, rumored that its Sect Master once forged a pseudo-Immortal Artifact, which drew a Heavenly Tribulation that shattered half a mountain peak."
Ximing Continent.
Completely opposite to the mildness of the East Xuan Region, this place was a boundless desert with yellow sand filling the sky. But beneath the yellow sand lay countless ancient ruins. There was the "Blazing Sun Hall," where Disciples practiced swordplay in the wild sands, sandstorms following their every strike; there was the "Spirit Burial Sect," specializing in robbing the tombs of ancient powerhouses, said to have once unearthed an immortal corpse from ten thousand years ago and refined it into the Sect's guardian treasure.
Reading to this point, Yun Ming couldn't help but look up at the quiet mountains and waters around him, then back down at the descriptions of the sand-filled sky in the book, momentarily feeling a sense of daze as if he didn't know where he was.
He continued to flip.
Endless Sea.
Daoist Lord Wanfa spent ten whole pages here. According to his records, the Endless Sea was boundless; even if a Void Refining Cultivator flew on a sword for a hundred years, they would not see the end.
There were countless islands in the sea, some as large as a continent, others only big enough for one person to stand on. The creatures on the islands were strange and varied, from peaceful fishing villages to extremely ferocious sea monsters.
There were even more ruins on the seabed, said to include ancient Sects that sank into the sea during the last great tribulation of heaven and earth.
"I once saw a city on the seabed," the Daoist Lord wrote, "where the Dragon Clan resided. Upon seeing my arrival, they raised their heads and roared, the sound shaking the surroundings for a hundred miles. I retreated, not daring to enter lightly."
Yun Ming sucked in a breath of cold air.
What kind of terrifying existence could make a Void Refining Daoist Lord "retreat, not daring to enter lightly"?
The final location.
Hundred Thousand Mile Mountains.
This mountain range stretched across heaven and earth, cutting apart South Heaven and North Heaven, East Xuan and Ximing.
The terrain was steep and Yao Beasts ran rampant; those below the Golden Core Realm entering would face certain death.
But the most terrifying thing was not the Yao Beasts, but the Restrictions in the mountains that had existed for unknown tens of thousands of years—remnants of ancient wars. In some places, space was still shattered, and stepping into it would result in being torn to pieces by turbulent flows.
However, the more dangerous it was, the more people flocked to it. Because the Hundred Thousand Mile Mountains hid countless ancient Secret Realms, it was said that as long as one could come out alive, they could at least break through a major Realm.
Daoist Lord Wanfa added an eight-word note here: "I entered thrice, and thrice narrowly escaped death."
Yun Ming stared at those eight words, speechless for a long time.
A Void Refining Daoist Lord, entered three times, and nearly died three times.
Just what was hidden within that mountain range?
He continued to flip forward.
The following sections recorded those behemoths standing at the peak of this world—
There was the "Zifu Immortal Dynasty," established for thirty thousand years, whose sovereign was at the Void Refining Great Perfection, said to be only one step away from Ascension. Under the Immortal Dynasty's jurisdiction were seventy-two provinces, each with a Nascent Soul Cultivator presiding over it. Its national strength was so great it could crush any Sect.
There was the "Star Palace," built above the Nine Heavens, using stars as its foundation and laying down the Zhoutian Star Array. The Disciples in the palace cultivated Star Power, and when they attacked, they could summon star phantoms to suppress their opponents. Daoist Lord Wanfa had once been invited to the palace to discuss the Dao, and his evaluation of the palace master was: "Unfathomable."
There was the "Myriad Demon Hall," revered by all the great demons under heaven. The hall master was an old flood dragon who had lived for unknown tens of thousands of years, said to have already survived nine Heavenly Tribulations, needing only one more to shed its demon body and transform into a true dragon.
There were also "Samsara Valley," "Taixu Grotto-Heaven," "Cangwu Divine Mountain"...
Yun Ming flipped through page by page, his fingertips trembling slightly.
Each of these names was as heavy as a mountain.
Each of these forces was enough to crush Great Gan thousands of times over.
He had never imagined that this world was actually so vast.
He had also never imagined that the "Great Gan" he was in, the Great Gan with a Nascent Soul True Lord presiding over it, wouldn't even have a single word mentioned in this book.
Yun Ming flipped to the last page.
Then flipped back.
Then flipped again.
Nothing.
There really was nothing.
Great Gan, Sunset Glow Sect, Wan Province, Qing Province... none of these names he was familiar with were there.
He held the book in a daze, speechless for a long while.
Outside the window, the waterfall still murmured, and the rainbow was still faint. Sunlight spilled from the top of the cliff, shining on his slightly dazed face.
He suddenly remembered the line of words on the paper—
"I have sought the Dao all my life, only to finally know that the Great Dao is endless."
Yes.
The Great Dao is endless.
This world is also endless.
In the eyes of a Void Refining Daoist Lord, the replacement of a mortal Dynasty is but a hundred years. To a Void Refining powerhouse with a Lifespan of thirty thousand years, what is the difference between a mere hundred years and an ant living and dying in a single day?
How could he bother to record those names that live and die in a day?
Yun Ming closed the book and let out a soft breath.
There was no information about Great Gan.
But he wasn't disappointed.
Because this book had already allowed him to see a world he had never seen before.
South Heaven, North Heaven, East Xuan Region, Ximing Continent, Endless Sea, Hundred Thousand Mile Mountains—
Those names, those Sects, those Secret Realms, those immortal dynasties, had taken root in his heart from then on.
One day, he would walk out.
To see the thirty thousand miles of purple qi in South Heaven, to climb the Hundred Thousand Mile Mountains, to go to the depths of the Endless Sea and find that ancient city where the Dragon Clan resides.
Yun Ming put down the book and looked at the rainbow under the waterfall.
The sound of water murmured, and the sunlight was just right.
"Ding! Today is a good day for drawing cards. The probability of obtaining High Grade items has increased. Ten-draw has been issued."
Hearing that today's card-drawing opportunity had been issued, Yun Ming opened the card-drawing interface.
