130: Punishment? Reward?
“Alright, please take out their game tokens and exchange them for chips for me.”
Cheng Zhen pointed at the two people next to him, smiling at the attendant.
The faces of those two immediately turned green, and countless unspeakable vulgarities surged in their hearts.
“What a joke! You… I…” One person was clearly so angry he was a little disoriented.
“Wasn’t this the rule we agreed on from the start? What’s the problem?”
Cheng Zhen played with the chips in his hand, looking at the still-dazed attendant. He raised an eyebrow: “What? Do you need someone to help you?”
“Uh, congratulations, guest, you’ve won all the game tokens!”
The attendant seemed to wake up from a dream; clearly, the five consecutive wins earlier had stunned him.
He immediately stepped forward, looked at the two still showing resentment, and smiled, reminding them: “I’m sorry, gentlemen, you were not successful. Please abide by the rules and give the game tokens to the winner.”
The two men looked at the menacing henchmen around them. No matter how much they wanted to throw a tantrum and curse, they could only grit their back teeth and step aside, watching the attendant open the machine and pour out their game tokens for counting.
“Counting complete.”
The attendant looked at Cheng Zhen with a hint of awe: “Guest No. 6 deposited 82 tokens, and Guest No. 8 deposited 79 tokens. Since Mr. No. 8 placed his bet after Mr. No. 6, he needs to make up to 82 tokens before handing them over to the winning Guest No. 4.”
“A total of 164 game tokens can be exchanged for 1 gold chip and 6 silver chips, with 40 tokens remaining. Would the guest like to exchange them immediately?”
“Exchange them.” Cheng Zhen smiled, “Anyway, the remaining dozen or so tokens are enough to beat them both.”
Cheng Zhen had only exchanged 20 game tokens in total; he hadn’t put in many just now.
Compared to the two who had worked the levers until sparks flew, this statement was simply adding insult to injury.
Not only that, Cheng Zhen even sighed and added a final jab: “I waited for so long for so little, you guys deposited really slowly.”
The two NPCs’ faces were no longer ashen, but green to the point of turning purple.
“Don’t get cocky!” No. 8 gritted his teeth, “What I’ve eaten, I’ll make you spit back out sooner or later!”
With that, he was about to ask the attendant to exchange some more game tokens for him, preparing for another battle.
“Gentlemen.”
However, the attendant did not immediately exchange them, but instead gestured towards a nearby table: “Please accept some ‘small punishments’ first before you can start the next game~”
That table was filled with wine glasses, and the mellow aroma of wine could be smelled from afar.
“Burgundy, gourmets praise its fruity and floral notes.” Boss William elegantly swirled the wine glass in his hand, “I have prepared several fine wines for the guests, and I hope both guests will also enjoy its taste.”
No. 6 and No. 8 looked puzzled.
Drinking wine?
How was this a punishment? This was clearly a reward!
“However…”
Boss William’s tone shifted: “Some of the wines have some special ‘seasonings’ added.”
“If one is fortunate enough to taste it, they will forever be intoxicated by the aftertaste of the fine wine, never to wake up.”
“Please, gentlemen~”
Amidst the expectant and schadenfreude expressions of the crowd, what was there for No. 6 and No. 8 not to understand?
The first floor was a probability of getting shot, and the second floor was a probability of drinking poisoned wine.
When they looked at that table of fine wines again, where was the anticipation? Their expressions were even worse than if they were being asked to eat rocks.
Lao Feng frowned after hearing this.
His skill was only useful for firearms; as soon as poisoned wine was on the table, he was directly banned.
No. 6 and No. 8 also didn’t want to drink poisoned wine, but there was no choice. Under the ‘friendly’ gaze of the henchmen, they could only grudgingly walk to the table.
They didn’t immediately choose a wine glass, but observed for a while. Unfortunately, no matter how they looked, these cups showed no difference. Even the liquid inside was carefully measured, all looking roughly the same.
There were about thirty wine glasses on the table, and they had ten people. If Boss William placed the poisoned wine according to the number of people, then they had a two-thirds chance of choosing a non-poisoned glass.
The two looked left and right but couldn’t tell which cup was poisoned. Gritting their teeth, they simply left their luck to fate.
They gulped down full glasses as if eating a date whole or chewing a peony, as if drinking quickly would prevent them from tasting the poison.
“Oh dear, Boss William, you’re truly wasting these wines on them!”
A pot-bellied man wearing a wig saw the scene and immediately turned his head away in disgust: “These poor, ignorant commoners don’t know how to appreciate wine at all. Perhaps if you poured them a few cups of horse urine, it would better suit their taste.”
The other wealthy people also let out low chuckles.
“You’re right, we can try that next time.” Boss William replied with a smile, then looked at No. 6 and No. 8 again, to see if they would win the lottery immediately.
However, the two were lucky and did not choose poisoned wine on their first try.
But even so, their expressions weren’t much better.
Because they still hadn’t found the correct way to operate the slot machine.
“What exactly is…”
No. 6 frowned. He certainly knew there was a problem with the slot machine, but the real issue was how to solve it.
He secretly glanced at Cheng Zhen; that five-consecutive-win earlier absolutely couldn’t have been luck. Clearly, Cheng Zhen must have discovered the trick inside the slot machine to win.
Fortunately, this young man seemed to be very overconfident, just sleeping by the side.
No. 6 knew very well that Cheng Zhen still wanted to wait until they had thrown enough tokens, just like before, and then come out to take everything.
But the period when Cheng Zhen was inactive was also his opportunity!
No. 6 walked to the attendant and exchanged 50 game tokens.
He planned to move slower this time; impatience was useless, he could only observe carefully to find the trick.
Just as No. 6 was about to insert a token, his peripheral vision caught Cheng Zhen dozing in the chair, and an idea suddenly popped into his head. He then turned and walked to the slot machine Cheng Zhen had used earlier.
“Guest, you are…”
The attendant asked, but No. 6 replied confidently: “The rule is just to get the right pattern, there’s no need to care which machine I use, right?”
The attendant was momentarily speechless, and No. 6 smugly began inserting tokens.
He felt that Cheng Zhen’s ability to find the method so quickly might be related to the machine, after all, Cheng Zhen was the first to inspect the machine.
“Friendly advice, don’t use my machine.”
Cheng Zhen, lying in his chair, spoke lazily.
“What, going home to tell your mom I’m bullying you?” No. 6 completely ignored him, continuing to occupy Cheng Zhen’s machine.
Cheng Zhen wasn’t annoyed and lay back down in his chair.
Some people, there’s a path to heaven but they don’t take it; there’s no gate to hell, yet they insist on throwing themselves in.
The specific wheel catch at the back of that machine had been picked off by him. If No. 6 could spin out a tiger head, Cheng Zhen would eat the machine on the spot!
Lao Feng heard it, and also frowned.
