131: No matter what mechanism it is, just dismantle it!

“Hoo… hoo…”

Number 6 spun the joystick, eyes wide open, veins bulging on his hands, his breathing growing heavy with anger.

Why was this happening!

He had been able to get two symbols before, so why couldn't he get even one now?

Who on earth adjusted this damned machine like this!

Number 6 was so angry he wanted to give the machine some physical therapy.

“You’ve been throwing for ages, and only got 50?”

Cheng Zhen looked at him, his expression a little disgusted.

I gave you a chance, but you’re useless!

Number 8, next to him, seemed to have been influenced too, hesitating and dawdling for ages when throwing a coin.

Just now, Cheng Zhen had collected 160 coins in less than half an hour, and now, with almost the same amount of time passed, the two of them had only managed this much, which greatly disappointed Cheng Zhen.

The first round was almost over, and Cheng Zhen couldn't be bothered to wait for the other three or two, so he stood up and walked towards the empty slot machine.

Under the nervous gazes of Number 6 and Number 8, Cheng Zhen pulled the joystick.

It wobbled twice, no win.

The two immediately breathed a sigh of relief.

Cheng Zhen didn't care at all, continuing to pull the joystick and drop a few coins.

Still no win.

Numbers 6 and 8 instantly perked up as if they had taken a powerful tonic.

Could it be that this kid was just lucky earlier?

Impossible, what kind of luck could be that outrageous!

Hmm, maybe changing machines is useful? This kid only figured out how to solve the other machine, and it stopped working when he switched?

Thinking of this, Number 6 immediately cheered up. Even if he didn't win, dragging others down with him was good. As long as Cheng Zhen didn't win, he wouldn't have lost!

Unfortunately, he rejoiced too soon.

This time, the tiger head stopped steadily in front of Cheng Zhen.

Number 6 & Number 8: “…”

It's fine, it's fine, only one came out…

The second tiger head appeared.

Number 6 & Number 8: It’s okay, it’s okay, two coming out isn’t a big deal…

And then came the third, and the fourth.

Number 6 & Number 8: “…………”

Calm down, calm—

Calm down my ass, how can we calm down?!

This machine was more slippery than an eel in their hands, but in Cheng Zhen’s hands, it was more obedient than a dog?

Why call it a slot machine? Might as well call it a simp machine!

By the time the fifth one was about to appear, both of them were ashen-faced.

And the fifth symbol, just like last time, looked like it wanted to fake a fall and slide away.

It was cured on the spot by a slap from Cheng Zhen.

Even Optimus Prime would praise him as a miracle doctor.

“Congratulations, guest number 4…” The attendant next to him was already numb, only his professional instincts remained.

He had seen formidable individuals who could spot problems, but he had never seen anyone like Cheng Zhen, who could succeed with just a few slides after sleeping for most of the day.

It made their game look like a joke.

“What a formidable young man!”

On the contrary, Boss William and some people who had bet on Cheng Zhen were in high spirits now, as if they had discovered some extraordinary new toy.

“If you can survive until the end, I hope to discuss this machine with you.”

Boss William raised his glass, seemingly eager to emulate the planners in DNF and increase the difficulty for everyone.

However, as the wealthy people's bets were still ongoing, Boss William couldn't appear too eager to recruit talent, otherwise, others might think he was rigging the championship, and his game wouldn't be able to continue.

Cheng Zhen didn't speak, only smiled faintly.

He couldn't possibly tell Boss William that he secretly dismantled the internal parts of his machine, could he?

If the slot machines here were the modern chip-controlled type, Cheng Zhen's efforts would be useless even if he gouged out the panel.

But for these simple machines with only roller and scroll structures, it was incredibly easy to make adjustments.

Cheng Zhen discovered in his initial attempts that the rotation speeds of the several rollers were not the same. This could be due to machine settings or related to its internal condition.

There are many ways to prevent people from getting the specified pattern, such as making the rollers uneven in weight, using a wheel-and-axle design to make patterns difficult to achieve, or making the probability of later patterns appearing lower, and so on.

This machine was set up so that the first two rows of tiger heads were relatively easy to appear, which would give participants a false impression: this machine isn't difficult, I can get it in the front, and I can get it in the back too!

With this thought, participants would become increasingly anxious when they failed to get patterns later on. Compared to earlier successes, subsequent failures would intensify the sense of loss.

It was like the sweet bait of a pitcher plant; giving a little benefit at the beginning, then dragging the target down to the bottom where they couldn't climb back up.

Numbers 6 and 8 were like this; at first, they were carefully observing, but after throwing in 20 or 30 game coins, they became much more anxious, leading to more and more mistakes.

The two knew there was a problem with the machine, but they only thought about how to find answers to the problem.

Cheng Zhen, however, planned to directly delete the problem.

As long as there are no problems, no answers are needed!

The Digging Hand came out and started fumbling inside the machine.

Due to the simple structure of the machine, tricks could only be played in limited places, allowing Cheng Zhen to quickly find the anomaly.

There were several small mechanisms connected to the axles that could influence the probability of subsequent payouts when a tiger head appeared in the front.

Not only that, but the weight, rotation speed, and all other adjustable parts had been adjusted, highlighting a malicious intent.

If Cheng Zhen were to slowly adjust things back, he couldn't do it blindly without an internal view of the machine.

So Cheng Zhen simply and directly removed those contraptions.

However, after removing those mechanisms, the machine's original guaranteed probabilities were also gone.

In particular, the payout rate of the first two tiger heads was linked to the subsequent ones; removing the mechanisms would make the front entirely random. Due to uneven weight and the absence of guaranteed catches, it would be extremely difficult for the first two rows to land on a pattern.

However, Cheng Zhen never intended to ‘turn’ to a pattern.

Internal energy, blow!

The basic internal energy attached to his body was like something out of a wuxia novel, a swirling qi around his dantian, at Cheng Zhen's command. Then, he only needed to blow at the rollers as if using telekinesis, and that was it.

After inserting the coin, the rollers immediately spun wildly. Because there were no mechanisms to hold them, the rotation speed seemed completely chaotic.

While Cheng Zhen appeared to be pulling the joystick and waiting for patterns, he was actually exerting internal energy.

Seeing a tiger head, the roller still wants to spin? Watch my dark hand, I’ll grab it from behind on the spot, it won’t spin a bit!

The roller doesn’t want to spin anymore? No, I’ll blow on you to keep spinning!

The last tiger head was also a subtle trick of the machine; it was meant to slide away, making you fail at the last moment and get furious.

For this, Cheng Zhen could only extend his clean little hand and make it go back where it came from.

Although the two slot machines looked normal, inside they were already just making incoherent noises.

Cheng Zhen looked at the dumbfounded Number 6 next to him, and silently pointed to a nearby table:

“Please, brave warrior, drink this cup to the full!”
