38: Chapter 38 Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School
Eight spider-like legs suddenly sprouted from Bai Qi's back.
This gave Ah Yin a fright, but she could do nothing else at the moment, only watch helplessly as the eight spider legs behind Bai Qi flailed wildly.
Meanwhile, Bai Qi was frantically channeling his Soul Power, struggling to suppress these eight spider legs.
But this external Spirit Bone was essentially an extra bone grown beyond the original 206 in a human body.
After fusion, it automatically matched the body's strength.
This resulted in the Spirit Bone causing little physical harm to Bai Qi; the issue was that Bai Qi's Mental Energy couldn't suppress this newly grown bone.
After a while longer, Bai Qi barely managed to retract the Eight Spider Lances, but he collapsed, his face drenched in sweat. Seeing this, Ah Yin hurried forward and caught him in her arms.
Bai Qi lay in Ah Yin's embrace, panting heavily, his voice weak as he spoke.
"Sister Ah Yin, I'll need your help next."
After saying this, Bai Qi fell into a deep sleep. Before losing consciousness, he couldn't help but curse the system in his mind: giving only physical strength without boosting Mental Energy was no different from going to the gym and skipping leg day.
After hearing Bai Qi's words and seeing him faint, Ah Yin quickly withdrew the Blue Silver Emperor.
She laid Bai Qi flat on the bed. Seeing him soaked in sweat, she got up to fetch a damp towel.
Returning, she removed Bai Qi's clothes. Blushing, she wiped his body and gently touched the spot on his back where the Spirit Bone had been absorbed.
Letting out a soft sigh, Ah Yin sat down by the bedside.
She reached out and gently brushed aside the stray hairs from Bai Qi's forehead, her fingertips touching his slightly cool skin.
After returning the towel to the basin, Ah Yin checked the fusion site of the Eight Spider Lances on Bai Qi's back once more. Seeing nothing amiss, she finally relaxed a little.
Ah Yin initially thought of getting up and returning to her own room, but upon reaching the door, she turned back.
She sat down by Bai Qi's bedside again, propping her chin with one hand as she gazed at him. Gradually, her eyelids grew heavy.
After an indeterminate amount of time, Ah Yin had fallen asleep like this, slumped over the bedside in a daze.
The first rays of morning sunlight filtered through the window lattice into the room as Bai Qi slowly opened his eyes.
Turning his head slightly, he saw Ah Yin asleep by the bedside.
A wave of warmth surged in Bai Qi's heart. He didn't rush to get up, simply watching her quietly.
After a while, Ah Yin's eyelashes fluttered lightly, and she slowly opened her eyes.
Their eyes met. Ah Yin was momentarily stunned, then a flicker of delight appeared on her face.
"Xiao Qi, you're awake? How do you feel? Is there anywhere uncomfortable?"
Bai Qi propped himself up with his arms, sitting up. He moved his shoulders, feeling a tingling numbness in his back, but no pain. Instead, there was a sensation of brimming strength.
The Spirit Bone hadn't been fully absorbed yet, but after reaching the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, it could probably be resolved.
"Don't worry, Sister Ah Yin. I'm much better, thanks to you keeping watch for me last night."
Ah Yin let out a sigh of relief, reached out, and lightly flicked his forehead, chiding him.
"If you take such risks again next time, I won't care for you anymore."
Bai Qi chuckled, knowing she was all bark and no bite. He didn't argue, just obediently nodded.
Ah Yin stood up, smoothed out the wrinkles in her dress, then turned to pour him a cup of warm water and handed it over.
"Have some water, take it easy. We need to head to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School soon."
Bai Qi took the cup, took a sip. The warm water slid down his throat, making him feel much more comfortable overall.
He set the cup down, noticing the faint dark circles under Ah Yin's eyes. Knowing she must have slept poorly last night, a pang of guilt struck him. He said,
"Sister Ah Yin, you've worked hard."
Ah Yin's hand paused slightly, then she withdrew it, turning her face away, her tone deliberately light.
"What nonsense are you saying? Go wash up quickly. Don't keep Meng Yiran waiting."
Bai Qi smiled, got up, and tidied himself up simply, feeling much more refreshed.
The two walked out of the room one after the other. Just as they reached the corridor corner, they ran into Meng Yiran head-on.
Meng Yiran's gaze swept over the two, lingering for a moment on Ah Yin's slightly reddened earlobes and Bai Qi's still somewhat disheveled clothes. A flicker of suspicion flashed in her eyes.
But in the end, she didn't say anything, just raised an eyebrow and spoke in her usual tone.
"Well, finally decided to come out? I thought you'd sleep till the sun was high."
Bai Qi naturally noticed Meng Yiran's probing gaze, but his expression remained unchanged as he replied with a smile.
"I was cultivating a bit late last night. Sorry to keep you waiting."
"Oh."
Meng Yiran responded without further inquiry. She turned and walked downstairs, saying as she went,
"Then hurry up. We need to have breakfast and get going. We're going to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School today; we shouldn't keep them waiting."
Ah Yin followed behind Bai Qi, lowering her gaze, not speaking. She just looked at the hem of her dress, afraid Meng Yiran might notice something.
The three went downstairs, had breakfast, checked out, and set off on the road to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School.
Along the way, Meng Yiran occasionally glanced back at Bai Qi, her eyes carrying a hint of scrutiny, but she never voiced her questions.
Bai Qi pretended not to see it, striding ahead, but his mind was busy calculating what to say when he met Ning Fengzhi later.
Ah Yin walked by his side, her gaze occasionally falling on his straight back, the corners of her mouth unconsciously lifting slightly.
Ahead, the mountain gate of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School became faintly visible, its golden glazed tiles gleaming brilliantly in the sunlight.
As the group reached the main gate of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School, the guards at the entrance saw the visitors and stepped forward to ask,
"Are you Bai Qi, Young Master Bai? The Sect Master and the young lady have already given instructions. Please follow me. The Sect Master is waiting in the main hall."
Hearing this, Bai Qi nodded.
After entering...
Meng Yiran couldn't help but whisper in admiration, her eyes darting around, finding everything novel.
"So magnificent..."
Ah Yin didn't speak, just quietly followed by Bai Qi's side, her gaze calm.
Following the person, they entered the main hall of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School.
The guide stopped and said to Bai Qi,
"Please enter, all three of you. The Sect Master is inside."
Upon hearing this, Bai Qi took a deep breath.
He pushed open the great door of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School.
Entering the main hall, a middle-aged man stood in the center, seated on the main seat. Dressed in splendid robes, he had an elegant, scholarly demeanor and a gentle smile. This was precisely the Sect Master of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School—Ning Fengzhi.
And by his side stood two elders. They appeared to be standing casually, yet they exuded an immovable, mountain-like pressure.
Bai Qi clasped his fists, bowed respectfully, his voice steady. He said,
"Greetings, School Master Ning."
Ning Fengzhi smiled slightly, raising a hand in a gesture of courtesy. His tone was gentle yet carried the composure of one in authority. He said,
"No need for such formality. Rong'er often mentions you, saying you helped her a lot at Shrek Academy. I should be thanking you."
Bai Qi straightened up, replying neither humbly nor arrogantly.
"You flatter me, School Master Ning. Rongrong is my friend. Helping each other is only natural."
Ning Fengzhi nodded, a flicker of appreciation in his eyes, then he shifted the topic.
