307: A divine child? A complete waste!
"Seventh Elder, this is..."
The youth who spoke was dressed in a purple-gold robe and had a dignified bearing; he was Su Yuntian, the leader of the younger generation in the Lesser Formless Realm.
His gaze fell on Su Chen, and his brows furrowed unconsciously.
Restrained Spiritual Qi? No, this was simply a void.
The man before him did not have the slightest aura of a Cultivator, as if he were a Mortal who had never stepped onto the path of cultivation.
What confused him even more was the man's conduct.
His posture was lazy and his expression weary; he even needed two stunning maidservants to carry a rocking chair for him to travel.
Where was the Cultivator? This was clearly a worldly playboy whose body had been hollowed out by wine and women!
How could such a person appear in the core Secret Realm of the Su Family?
And how could he have the Seventh Elder personally lead the way?
Before Su Qi could speak, the cold and elegant woman beside Su Yuntian—Su Yueling—had already let out a soft sneer.
"Presumably, this is His Highness the 'Divine Son' with great Luck that the Seventh Elder often speaks of?"
Her voice was like ice beads falling on a jade plate, crisp and pleasant, but the sarcasm in her words was like ice-quenched needles, making one's ears ache.
Su Qi's old face instantly darkened.
He knew that these youngsters raised in the Lesser Formless Realm were all incredibly arrogant.
Born in this half-Mortal, half-immortal realm and looking down upon the outside world, they had long grown accustomed to their own superiority.
Now that a Divine Son from the 'Mortal World' with no cultivation had appeared out of thin air and demanded their worship, they were naturally defiant.
"Yueling, how insolent!"
Su Qi scolded sternly, "This is the current Divine Son of our Su Family, His Highness Su Chen! His status is noble beyond your imagination! Why do you not perform the grand kowtow upon seeing the Divine Son!"
Su Qi's tone carried an unquestionable authority.
However, the more he defended him, the more the rebellion in the hearts of Su Yuntian and the others surged.
Kowtow?
Kneel to a Mortal who didn't even have a ripple of spiritual power?
It was simply a massive joke!
The corner of Su Yuntian's mouth quirked into a stiff arc as he casually cupped his hands toward Su Chen, "So it is His Highness the Divine Son. Please excuse my lack of welcome."
His back was straighter than a sword.
The several Saints and Saintesses behind him didn't even bother to lift their hands, their eyes filled with amusement and scrutiny, as if watching a farce.
[Here it comes, the classic 'village chief's son doesn't respect the outsider hero' trope.]
Su Chen lay on the rocking chair, not even bothering to lift his eyelids, his inner monologue scrolling frantically.
[I know this routine. First doubt, then mockery, and finally getting slapped into the ground by me, questioning their lives.]
[Sigh, slapping faces is such manual labor; the efficiency is too low. Wouldn't it be better to go back and Cultivate for a couple of major cycles instead?]
[Whatever, as long as they don't bother me, I'll just treat them like a swarm of buzzing flies.]
Su Chen made up his mind that as long as these brats didn't stick their faces under his palm, he would act as if nothing happened.
But while he wanted peace, someone insisted on making waves.
Seeing Su Yuntian and the others' arrogant attitude, Su Qi was about to explode with rage!
A bunch of idiots!
Do you know who you are neglecting?! That is the Qilin Son the Matriarch has high hopes for, the only hope for our lineage to return to the Main Branch!
If you offend him, can you bear the consequences?!
"Bastards!"
Su Qi roared, and the terrifying pressure of the Great Sage Peak swept out, pressing down on Su Yuntian and the others like an invisible mountain!
"Su Yuntian! Su Yueling! I command you in the name of an Elder: Immediately! Kneel before His Highness the Divine Son and kowtow to apologize!"
Su Qi was truly afraid, fearing that these fools would completely ruin the future of their lineage.
However, under the pressure, although Su Yuntian and the others' faces were pale and their bodies trembled, the defiance in their eyes burned even more intensely.
He endured the Divine Soul pressure that was enough to crush a Saint King and squeezed out a few words through his teeth.
"Seventh Elder! We respect you as an Elder, but you cannot distort the truth like this!"
"The foundation of our Su Family is that strength is respected!"
"He is a Mortal, a waste! Why should we kneel?! Just because of that ridiculous 'Divine Son' title?!"
"I refuse to accept this!"
"We all refuse to accept this!" The Prodigies behind him roared in unison, their hostility manifesting and piercing toward Su Chen.
In their eyes, Su Chen was a parasite relying on his forebears to act arrogantly, and the Seventh Elder was an old, senile accomplice!
On the rocking chair, Su Chen let out a barely audible sigh.
[Sigh, why do people always like to make things so complicated?]
[Isn't it good to just stay alive? Why be in such a hurry to experience what despair feels like?]
He finally slowly opened his eyes.
Those eyes, always filled with a bit of lazy sleepiness, looked directly at Su Yuntian and the others for the first time.
"You all are very defiant?"
Su Chen's voice was very light and faint, like a casual question asked upon waking up.
But this flat tone, falling into Su Yuntian's ears, carried a sense of looking down from above the clouds that made him extremely uncomfortable.
"Of course we are!"
Su Yuntian puffed out his neck like a victorious rooster, "We youths of the Lesser Formless Realm only kneel to true powerhouses!"
"You want us to kneel? Fine! Prove that you have the qualification!"
Su Yueling let out a cold laugh, mercilessly adding, "A waste who even needs to be carried to travel, worthy of the title 'Divine Son'? It's simply the world's biggest joke!"
These words were like a match thrown into a powder keg.
"Courting death!"
Su Qi's old face turned the color of pig liver, his killing intent fully revealed as he raised his hand to clean house.
But his wrist was gently held down by a force that seemed soft but was actually unshakable.
It was Su Chen.
Su Chen remained reclined on the rocking chair, merely casting a faint glance at Su Qi.
"Enough, Old Seven. Why get angry with a group of children who haven't grown up?"
These nonchalant words became the final straw that broke the camel's back.
In the eyes of Su Yuntian and the others, this was guilt! It was cowardice! It was ironclad proof that he only dared to hide under the wings of his Elders!
"Do you see, Seventh Elder? He's afraid himself!"
"Just a coward!"
Sarcastic laughter rose and fell.
Su Chen looked at those young faces, each practically screaming "come slap me," and finally sat up slowly and methodically.
He stretched, but no bones cracked; his movements were as gentle as a waking cat.
"Sigh, what a bother."
He whispered softly, as if lamenting something.
"I originally wanted to let you live a little longer."
His voice trailed off.
He looked up, the last trace of sleepiness in the depths of those lazy eyes completely vanishing, replaced by an indifference capable of freezing time and space.
"Since you are in such a hurry to seek death..."
"Then..."
"I have no choice but to fulfill your wish!"
