126: Hunt
Li Changfeng, Nan Qingyue, and Zhang Yun waited in the alley for a long time, but they still didn't see that person.
Nan Qingyue yawned. "Master, do you think that person isn't coming?"
"Yeah, Sir, it's already so late. I don't think they're coming," Zhang Yun said with a dark expression, sucking in a breath of cold air.
After a long while.
Zhang Yun finally sighed and stretched.
It was already past midnight.
But the person Li Changfeng mentioned still hadn't appeared, making Zhang Yun even more frustrated.
"Sir, how about we leave first?" Zhang Yun suggested.
"Wait a bit longer," Li Changfeng said, his face grim and expression unsightly.
Something was wrong. How could those people not be there?
If that was the case, who exactly were they looking for?
In the Auction House, there were only a few people who could be the Gao Family's targets.
Suddenly, a group of people appeared in front of the Auction House. They had serious expressions and were in a hurry, as if searching for something.
"Hurry up! Faster!" someone shouted.
Then, a group of people suddenly surged out of the Auction House, moving quickly.
They were armed with Long Sabers and looked like they would be difficult to deal with.
And just then.
Li Changfeng's gaze was instantly drawn to them. His eyes lit up, and he clenched his fists. "They're here! Finally!"
"Master, you were right. Those people really showed up," Nan Qingyue said joyfully.
Zhang Yun instantly became much more alert. He turned his head and looked toward the entrance of the Auction House.
Their movements were very fluid; they looked like well-trained Assassins.
Li Changfeng cautiously poked his head out, observing everything from the shadows.
"Master, what do you think they're doing?" Nan Qingyue asked curiously.
"Preparing to kill," Li Changfeng said, his eyes flashing. With their methods, it wasn't surprising at all.
However, they were all dressed in Black Robes, seemingly to hide their identities.
But what exactly was there to hide?
"The auction should be over by now, and they're making their move. These people... could they be planning to kill someone for their goods?" Zhang Yun's eyes widened, startled by his own thought.
"Killing for loot? A good guess," Li Changfeng snorted, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
But this was right in front of the Auction House; these people were certainly bold.
But in the end, what item could possibly be worth such a massive effort?
"Master, why don't we do the same? Then we can get the Seven-Colored Powder?" Nan Qingyue's lips curled into a smirk as she drew in a sharp breath.
And just then.
Nan Qingyue's eyes lit up as an idea formed in her mind.
Since it was all for the Seven-Colored Powder anyway, it wouldn't be bad if they could just snatch it away.
At least Nan Qingyue could get the Seven-Colored Powder and save Situ Jiu.
"No need. There's no reason for us to do that. Have you forgotten? We have an assistant," Li Changfeng said, a smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
Since Wang Yi had given his word, he would definitely follow through.
And Li Changfeng chose to trust Wang Yi; after all, one should not doubt those they employ.
"True, there's also Big Brother Wang Yi," Nan Qingyue nodded vigorously.
At this moment, Nan Qingyue felt even more at ease. She had a premonition.
The Seven-Colored Powder would definitely be theirs!
After the Assassins left the Auction House, they immediately ducked into the alleys.
This was how they were choosing to hide.
The Assassins were well-trained and seemed to have come with a clear purpose.
The Assassins concealed themselves, lurking within the narrow alleys.
"Look, someone's coming out!" Zhang Yun pointed toward the distant Auction House.
And just then.
A figure appeared at the entrance of the Auction House.
Li Changfeng's eyes narrowed as he stared intently at the person.
From a distance, Li Changfeng felt the person looked familiar, as if he had seen them somewhere before.
"Master, look! Someone's coming out!" Nan Qingyue said excitedly, her eyes brightening as she turned to look in that direction.
Li Changfeng had already spotted the figure, but he didn't pay it much mind at first.
"Mhm, let's head over quickly too," Li Changfeng said grimly, a cold light flashing in his eyes.
And just then.
Zhang Yun's expression turned sour. He sucked in a cold breath, trying to calm himself down.
Zhang Yun stood still, his body trembling uncontrollably.
After a long while.
The person who emerged from the Auction House walked out with light, slow steps.
The person was wearing a Black Robe and had a somewhat thin build.
"That person looks very familiar. Master, don't you think he looks like someone we know?" Nan Qingyue's eyes lit up as she suddenly spoke.
Hearing this.
Li Changfeng's gaze narrowed as he looked toward the figure.
"He does indeed!" Li Changfeng pondered for a long time, but he couldn't quite recall the person's name.
Zhang Yun blurted out, "The Host! He's the Host from the Auction House!"
There was no mistake; Zhang Yun recognized him as the Host.
But what Zhang Yun couldn't understand was...
Why would these people want to kill a Host?
Was there some sort of grievance between the two parties?
"The Host?" Nan Qingyue's brows furrowed. She sucked in a sharp breath, instantly sensing that something was wrong.
"No wonder he looked so familiar; it's that person from the Auction House!" Li Changfeng's eyes lit up as he took a sharp breath.
Li Changfeng nodded slightly, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.
The Host of the Auction House being targeted meant there was only one possibility.
These people were Assassins from the Gao Family.
"Master, but who would kill a Host?" Nan Qingyue's brows remained furrowed, her curiosity growing.
The Host shouldn't have offended the Gao Family, yet the Gao Family had sent Assassins to take his life.
After learning this.
Nan Qingyue felt even more helpless. "Could it be that they're all out for revenge? But what grudge could a Host have with the Gao Family?"
"Don't forget, it was the Host who worked up the atmosphere earlier. Otherwise, the Seven-Colored Powder would have already been in the Gao Family's possession," Li Changfeng said, his eyes flashing as he thought. "The Gao Family likely made a move against the Host because of that."
"But, does the Gao Family really intend to move against people from Mulan Manor?"
"The Gao Family's ambition is truly not small!"
Li Changfeng sucked in a cold breath, feeling quite helpless.
After a long while.
The Host finally strolled out of the Auction House.
The Guards at the Auction House entrance bowed respectfully; the Host's face flushed slightly as he left.
A small bottle of wine hung at the Host's waist; he tilted his head back and drained it all.
At this moment, the long street appeared calm and tranquil.
