278: Rumors
Nan Qingyue poked her head out and looked in the direction the old man was gazing.
However, Nan Qingyue saw nothing at all, making her even more curious about where Situ Jiu actually was.
"I'll go see for myself and find out," Nan Qingyue snorted coldly, then brushed past the old man.
She then pushed open the door to the room, but Situ Jiu was still not inside.
After glancing around, she found that Situ Jiu was not there.
A bad thought immediately crossed Nan Qingyue's mind: she had been tricked, or the old man had intentionally brought her here.
Humming.
With a resonant hum, Nan Qingyue drew her Sword, a cold glint flashing through the air.
With a flick of her wrist, she pointed her Sword at the old man, a cold light bursting from her eyes. "You lied to me; Situ Jiu isn't here at all! What exactly are you trying to do? Why did you bring me here?"
Faced with Nan Qingyue's interrogation, the old man remained calm, appearing as though he didn't care about the matter at all.
Consequently,
Nan Qingyue felt rather embarrassed, as the other party was completely ignoring her.
"If you want to know the answer, then just come inside; I will tell you." The old man stood with his hands behind his back and stepped forward into the room.
Nan Qingyue looked up, staring at the old man's back as she fell into deep thought.
"I'll go in then; do you think I'm afraid of you?" Nan Qingyue snorted coldly, held her head high, and stepped into the room.
Boom.
Just as Nan Qingyue entered the room, the door slammed shut with a bang.
This gave Nan Qingyue a start, and at that moment, she took a sharp breath, feeling quite helpless.
"Speak, what exactly are you trying to do!" Nan Qingyue was confused and could not understand the old man's actions.
If the old man wanted to kill her, he probably would have done so long ago; why wait until now?
Could it be that the old man was prepared to commit a murder here?
Or did he have other intentions? Perhaps it was for *that* matter!
Lusting after her beauty!
At this thought, Nan Qingyue retreated several steps, gripping her Sword tightly, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.
Nan Qingyue was slightly stunned; she slowly raised her head and stared fixedly at the old man.
"You don't need to look at me like that. If I wanted to kill you, you would have been dead long ago." The old man smiled, then adopted a rather relaxed posture.
At this moment, the old man sat directly in the seat of honor, reached out to pick up a cup of tea, and took a gentle sip.
Inhaling the tea's fragrance, the old man nodded with satisfaction.
"Then what exactly are you trying to do?" Nan Qingyue questioned coldly.
"Don't be so agitated. Come, sit." The old man reached out and actually made a gesture of invitation.
Seeing this, Nan Qingyue's face darkened; she didn't know what to do.
After lowering her head in thought for a moment, she held her head high and sat down next to the old man.
And just then...
The old man actually reached out, grasped the teapot, and filled two cups.
"I simply want to ask you about some matters regarding the Divine Sword Sect." The old man smiled slightly, the murderous aura from before having vanished from his presence.
"The Divine Sword Sect?" Nan Qingyue's face was grim; she understood now.
Why this old man had insisted on bringing her here—it seemed he wanted to know something about the Divine Sword Sect.
However, if the old man thought this would make Nan Qingyue betray the Divine Sword Sect, he was gravely mistaken.
Nan Qingyue snorted coldly, not even sparing him a glance.
"If you want to use this method to pry into the Divine Sword Sect's affairs, I suggest you give up. I will not betray the Divine Sword Sect," Nan Qingyue said sullenly.
"Hahahaha." Upon hearing this, the old man threw his head back and laughed.
"What are you laughing at?" Nan Qingyue was confused, momentarily stunned.
The old man picked up a cup of tea and took a sip, looking quite at ease.
This little girl is truly a Disciple of the Divine Sword Sect; she seems to have some spirit. Refusing to betray the Divine Sword Sect like this is no easy feat.
"I'm laughing at you for overthinking things." The old man appeared calm, seemingly not taking her previous words to heart at all.
"In truth, I'm not asking you to betray the Divine Sword Sect, nor will I act against it. I simply have a few Jianghu rumors I want to ask you about, that's all." The old man smiled. "Of course, as long as you tell me what I want to know, I can let you go, along with your Junior Brother."
Hearing this, Nan Qingyue hesitated.
After all, Nan Qingyue didn't want to die here; she still wanted to save her Master, Li Changfeng.
After a long silence, Nan Qingyue had reached a decision.
"Fine, I can agree, but I need to see what exactly it is." Nan Qingyue's face was dark, a cold glint flashing in her eyes.
Her tone was firm, as if there was no room for negotiation.
"Rest assured, I won't make you do anything detrimental to the Divine Sword Sect." The old man smiled slightly and gently placed his teacup on the table.
Hearing this, Nan Qingyue finally breathed a sigh of relief.
If it were something harmful to the Divine Sword Sect, she wouldn't do it even if it meant her death.
Nan Qingyue's ability to survive was all thanks to her Master, Li Changfeng.
Therefore, Nan Qingyue could never betray the Divine Sword Sect; she would protect it with her life.
"I think you're overthinking it. I just want to ask about a rumor." Then, the old man turned back and looked at Nan Qingyue.
"A piece of news reached the Jianghu a few days ago."
"The Divine Sword Sect Leader, Wei Donghai, was being hunted and left the Divine Sword Sect long ago. Afterward, a new Young Sect Leader arrived, and this Young Sect Leader is the Disciple of the former Divine Sword Sect Leader, Baiyi Luo?"
"Is this matter true or false?"
As the old man asked this, he looked up and kept his gaze fixed on Nan Qingyue.
Looking at the old man, it seemed he was waiting for an answer—one that would satisfy him.
Nan Qingyue was somewhat conflicted; while it was indeed a Jianghu rumor, it wasn't exactly a secret.
"That's right. Wei Donghai has left the Divine Sword Sect, and the Divine Sword Sect is now led by the Young Sect Leader," Nan Qingyue revealed.
It wasn't a big deal, nor was it a secret.
Nan Qingyue figured that saying it wouldn't matter much.
"Oh? So that Jianghu rumor is true? There is one more thing: is it also true that Wei Donghai plotted against Baiyi Luo all those years ago?" the old man asked again!
As the old man spoke of Baiyi Luo, he couldn't help but clench his fists.
