230: The boat of trust can capsize at any time

Zhang Chongfei's face darkened, and a cold glint burst forth from his eyes.

It was at this moment that Zhang Chongfei fixed his gaze on the guard.

"You don't need to apologize to me; go apologize to this little brother!" Zhang Chongfei barked coldly.

The Mulan Manor disciple had saved his life, so Zhang Chongfei did not dare to treat him with any neglect.

After hearing these words,

the guard was momentarily stunned. It took a long while before he finally came to his senses.

"Brother, I'm sorry. I was too impulsive just now!" The guard lowered his head, barely daring to breathe.

"Ah?" The Mulan Manor disciple was slightly taken aback, but he immediately recovered. "It's fine, no worries. I didn't take it to heart."

The Mulan Manor disciple smiled slightly and stepped forward to help the guard up.

The guard breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, this guy didn't hold a grudge; otherwise, his life might have ended here today.

"Little brother, come over here for a moment." Zhang Chongfei looked up at the Mulan Manor disciple standing not far away.

"Yes, Commander!" The Mulan Manor disciple did not dare to delay, stepping forward immediately to stand before Zhang Chongfei.

Zhang Chongfei made a gesture, and the Guards from earlier understood immediately.

The Guards performed a formal salute and then withdrew.

Zhang Chongfei turned back and looked at the Mulan Manor disciple. "Little brother, what is your name?"

"In reply to the Commander, this lowly one is called A Wu," A Wu said cautiously.

"A Wu, so what is your surname?" Zhang Chongfei was curious; in this world, how could someone only have a given name and no surname?

"This lowly one is surnamed Zhang, given name Wu; I am called Zhang Wu." Zhang Wu smiled slightly and performed a formal salute to Zhang Chongfei.

Upon hearing this name, Zhang Chongfei nodded in satisfaction.

He really hadn't expected that this kid would also be surnamed Zhang.

Since the Tang Dynasty, everyone in the world named Zhang has been part of one family. Perhaps this boy was even a kinsman.

"You are also a Zhang? Perhaps a hundred years ago, you and I were from the same clan." Zhang Chongfei threw back his head and laughed, appearing to have no air of superiority.

"This lowly one wouldn't dare!" Zhang Wu kept his head down, not daring to look at Zhang Chongfei.

Zhang Chongfei was the Commander of the Mulan Manor's Personal Guard; he held a high status and belonged to the direct lineage forces.

As a mere Mulan Manor disciple, Zhang Wu didn't dare to claim a connection with Zhang Chongfei.

However, what Zhang Wu didn't know was that by coming to deliver the news today, he had saved Zhang Chongfei's life; the connection between him and Zhang Chongfei was already tightly bound together.

"Alright, you don't need to be so restrained. You saved my life today; from now on, you are my brother!" Zhang Chongfei was a straightforward man, and he reached out to pat his own chest.

"Brother?" Zhang Wu was momentarily dazed. He had never imagined he could become brothers with Commander Zhang Chongfei.

The fate between the two of them relied on just a few simple words.

If Zhang Wu hadn't come to report the news, there truly wouldn't have been such a great opportunity.

"Yes, brother! You are my brother from now on!" Zhang Chongfei reached out and patted Zhang Wu heavily on the shoulder. "In Mulan Manor, if anyone causes trouble for you, I'll teach them a lesson. If you have any difficulties, you can come to me. As long as it's within my power, I will definitely help you!"

"Really?" Zhang Wu was somewhat surprised by these words.

After a long while,

Zhang Wu also nodded vigorously, his eyes lighting up.

"Really! A gentleman's word is his bond!" Zhang Chongfei smiled slightly, patting his chest.

Rumble, rustle.

Suddenly, a series of hurried footsteps rang out.

The Guards rushed forward, heading straight for Zhang Chongfei.

"Commander, let's leave quickly. It's getting late!" the Guards said with grim expressions.

The appearance of these Guards happened to interrupt the conversation between Zhang Chongfei and Zhang Wu, causing Zhang Chongfei's anger to flare up instantly.

Before they even had a chance to catch up, these Guards had suddenly appeared.

"Fine, what's the rush?" Zhang Chongfei's face darkened. He turned back, a cold glint bursting from his eyes as he stared hard at the Guards.

"Commander, we should leave. We don't know when that guy will show up." Zhang Wu felt uneasy and very worried.

If Li Changfeng discovered he had been tricked and turned around to come straight here,

it would be disastrous.

"Alright, let's go! To the tunnel!" Zhang Chongfei nodded. After thinking about it, he agreed.

After all, once they reached the safety of the tunnel, they could chat all they wanted. Why continue wasting time here?

Zhang Wu was also worried, his fists clenched tightly.

But just as they were preparing to head to the tunnel, a Black Shadow suddenly appeared at the entrance.

That person seemed to have appeared out of thin air.

"Zhang Wu, I really must thank you. If not for you, I wouldn't have been able to find Zhang Chongfei." Li Changfeng, clad in black robes, stood at the entrance of the tunnel.

Li Changfeng had blocked the path to the tunnel, leaving Zhang Chongfei and his men with only one way out.

"Who are you!" Zhang Wu's pupils constricted violently as he stared at the shadow.

"Zhang Wu, do you know this person? Who is he?" Zhang Chongfei's face was grim, a cold glint flashing in his eyes as he stared intently at Zhang Wu.

Zhang Chongfei clenched his fists, suspicion already rising in his heart.

"Commander, you must believe me! I haven't done anything to betray you!" Zhang Wu shook his head repeatedly, his pupils shrinking as a look of terror appeared on his face.

"Zhang Wu, what? Are you going back on your word so soon? Didn't you lead me here?" Li Changfeng's lips curled into a smirk. "To be honest, if it weren't for you, I really wouldn't have been able to get in!"

"And of course, without you, Zhang Wu, I wouldn't have found Zhang Chongfei either."

Li Changfeng pushed off with his toes, moving closer and closer to Zhang Chongfei.

Seeing this,

Zhang Wu was instantly stunned. He took a sharp breath, trying to force himself to stay calm.

"Who are you? How do you know my name? And just how did you get in here!" Zhang Wu looked up and questioned the shadow.

"Tsk tsk, Zhang Wu, are you trying to betray me now? Or do you want to play both sides?" Li Changfeng's lips curled; he was saying these words intentionally. "You led me to Zhang Chongfei. Once I kill this guy, I'll be sure to thank you properly."

Li Changfeng was playing a game of sowing discord.

He had overheard the name Zhang Wu by chance.

The fact that Li Changfeng could call out Zhang Wu's name made Zhang Chongfei even more convinced that there was definitely something wrong with Zhang Wu.

"Zhang Wu! To think I trusted you so much, yet you actually betrayed me?" Zhang Chongfei's eyes were bloodshot as he clenched his fist and smashed it hard into Zhang Wu's face.
