110: Chapter 110 Plunging Straight Down into the Underground Abyss!
The first-floor carriage.
The metal frame of the c-rank mental soothing bed transmitted rhythmic vibrations downward through the structure of the suspension pod.
The LED light tubes on the ceiling swayed slightly, with a strong sense of rhythm.
Shen Wanxing curled up on the sofa, covering her ears with both hands, her face flushed all the way to her neck.
Blood Rose bit down on an energy bar and looked up at the ceiling, her lips curling into a smirk.
"That wildcat Jiang Yanxue sure is lucky; she can even increase her attributes from a fight."
Shen Wanbing pressed her necklace and said nothing, the blue light outputting steadily.
Qin Hongye was at the second-floor sniper position with her back to the bed. The scope cover was tightly closed, her ears were stuffed with cotton, and the base of her neck was red.
Su Xiaoqi sat at the folding table hugging her knees, tilting her head to look at the ceiling. "How much will Big Sister Jiang Yanxue's agility increase?"
Shen Wanxing peeked half her head out from behind a cushion and asked in a muffled voice, "How do you know it's agility that's increasing?"
"Because Brother Chen Chen's agility is fifty-eight and Big Sister Jiang Yanxue's is forty-seven. Since the gap is the smallest, agility will increase the fastest."
The carriage went silent for two seconds.
Blood Rose tapped her energy bar. "This loli's math is pretty good."
One hour later.
The vibrations in the floor finally stopped.
Everyone held their breath and waited for twenty seconds. The sound of military boots stepping on the iron ladder came from the second floor.
Chen Chen came down first. His hair was a bit messy, but his spirit and energy remained as undiminished as ever.
The advantage of the recovery power from one hundred and seventeen points of constitution was demonstrated extremely clearly in this situation.
A dozen seconds later, Jiang Yanxue slowly descended while holding onto the stair railing.
Her high ponytail had come undone, and strands of black hair clung to her sweat-dampened cheeks.
The zipper of her tight combat suit had been pulled down more than halfway at some point, revealing the black sports bra inside and a large area of reddened skin below her collarbone.
Her legs were trembling.
Shen Wanxing took a secret peek and quickly retreated behind the cushion.
Jiang Yanxue sat down, supporting herself on the sofa armrest. She pressed her legs together and clamped her knees, biting her swollen lips. Her dark red pupils were misty, filled with the lingering aftereffects of being overworked.
"...Pervert."
But she opened her own attribute panel—agility: 50. It had increased by 3 points.
constitution: 38. It had also increased by 3 points.
Two attributes had improved simultaneously.
Chen Chen sat back in the co-pilot seat. The Forbidden Domain Dual Cultivation record on the system panel updated: Remaining attempts today 0/3.
Feedback result—none of Jiang Yanxue's attributes were higher than his, so the feedback did not trigger.
It was a purely one-way output.
But increasing the agility and constitution of the core melee fighter before a battle was a substantial boost to combat power.
"We're here," Shen Wanbing's voice came from the command console.
The Ghost Fortress decelerated and hovered.
Ahead was a massive vertical shaft with a diameter of over fifty meters.
The concrete edges were cracked, exposing rusted rebar.
The dark mouth of the shaft pointed downward, seemingly bottomless.
Green fluorescent liquid oozing from the shaft walls meandered downward, emitting a corrosive odor.
The entrance to the underground factory.
Shen Wanbing pulled up the Radar data:
"The shaft is about sixty meters deep. A large number of small heat sources are attached to the walls—Tier 2 Crypt Bats. The count is..."
She frowned.
"Many. Hundreds of them."
"Will they be in the way?"
"For the Ghost Fortress's shield, they won't be an issue."
Good enough.
"Jiang Yanxue, move aside." Chen Chen tapped the joystick twice.
Jiang Yanxue forced herself up and moved to the co-pilot side, where Shen Wanbing pressed her down into the folding chair beside her.
Chen Chen sat in the driver's seat and gripped the joystick with both hands.
"Everyone, hold on tight."
He pushed the engine power to seventy percent.
The Ghost Fortress lowered its nose, with half the vehicle's body protruding over the edge of the shaft.
Then Chen Chen released the suspension lock.
The twenty-six-and-a-half-ton steel behemoth dove headfirst into the darkness.
Shen Wanxing's screams were drowned out by the roar of the engine.
The freefall lasted less than two seconds before the chassis arc-jets fired in reverse, the thrust fighting against gravity.
The Ghost Fortress decelerated as it fell through the shaft, its speed suppressed from freefall to a dozen meters per second, but the inertia of twenty-six and a half tons still created a terrifying downward draft.
The walls of the shaft erupted into chaos.
Hundreds of Tier 2 Crypt Bats screeched as they burst from the rock crevices, their grayish-white wing membranes blotting out everything.
The dual-mounted heavy machine guns on the roof automatically locked on via Radar.
Armor-piercing incendiary rounds tore through the dark shaft like two fire dragons. Orange-red tracer belts slammed into the bat swarm, sending wings, shredded meat, and foul-smelling blood crashing against the armored hull.
The three thousand two hundred armor-piercing rounds showed their might at this moment.
The machine gun fire lasted for eleven seconds.
By the time the Ghost Fortress reached the bottom of the shaft, over seventy percent of the bat swarm had been cleared, with the survivors screeching as they retreated into deeper crevices.
*Boom!*
The twenty-six-and-a-half-ton chassis slammed onto the factory's first-level platform, sixty meters down.
The shockwave radiated from the point of impact in all directions, sending gravel, iron shavings, and discarded parts on the platform flying through the air.
Dozens of low-tier Aberrations wandering the platform didn't even have a chance to react before being flattened into meat paste by the air blast.
The carriage shook violently, and the suspension system hummed into action.
Shen Wanxing was bounced up and fell back onto the sofa, her pale amber pupils wide and her hair thrown all over her face.
Su Xiaoqi, however, was very steady, holding the unfinished steak on the folding table with both hands; not a single piece fell.
The armored door opened hydraulically.
Before the dust had even settled, a smell mixed with machine oil, rust, and rotting meat rushed in.
Chen Chen stepped out of the vehicle carrying the void-rending ship-slaying blade, its purple patterns flickering twice in the dim underground space.
Su Xiaoqi was the second to jump down, her twin tails swinging in an arc as she shattered two iron plates on the ground upon landing.
The energy from the Mammoth Tenderloin was still surging through her body, wrapping her in a pale golden halo.
Jiang Yanxue was the third to exit.
Her legs were still a bit weak, but the movement of unsheathing the Shadow Instant-Kill Blade was very nimble.
After her agility rose to fifty points, her drawing speed was nearly a level faster than it had been an hour ago.
Blood Rose was the last, her knee-high boots stepping onto the iron plates.
Her wine-red curly hair was tied in a low ponytail, and the zipper of her short black leather jacket stopped at her chest. She spun a High-Frequency Vibration Dagger between her fingers.
The four of them stood in front of the Ghost Fortress, facing a pitch-black abandoned workshop.
The first underground level was much colder than the surface; their breath came out in white mist.
The industrial lighting overhead had long since failed, the only light source being the green fluorescent liquid oozing from cracks in the wall pipes.
Shen Wanbing's voice came through the communicator:
"Sixty meters straight ahead, three large heat sources, moving very slowly. Scattered small heat sources in the side passages. Rear is clear."
"What model?"
"They're quite large, different from the centipedes on the surface earlier. Their silhouettes look like... multi-limbed amalgams. Stitch-Monsters."
Blood Rose took the first step forward.
She twisted her waist, the slit of her high-cut leather skirt opening from the root of her thigh to her knee, revealing glimpses of pale skin in the green fluorescence.
Biting the high-frequency dagger, she spread her arms to the sides as if performing some kind of stretch.
"Let me go first."
She tilted her head and glanced at Chen Chen.
"I have to let you know I'm not just here for a free meal."
Chen Chen didn't stop her.
Blood Rose took a deep breath and opened her mouth.
A visible pink mist seeped from between her teeth, spreading along the floor of the passage.
Double-S Rank Succubus Poison Mist—the concentration was twice the normal secretion, with corrosives and neurotoxins pouring out simultaneously.
As the poison mist spread thirty meters away, several muffled roars came from deep within the passage.
Next came uncoordinated, sluggish footsteps—the Stitch-Monsters' multiple limbs lost coordination in the poison mist, their appendages scratching wildly at the floor.
Blood Rose's figure flickered as her boots pushed off a pipe, launching her forward.
The high-frequency dagger hummed, slicing through the throat of the first Stitch-Monster.
While the monster's four arms were still convulsing, its head had already tumbled from its neck.
The second one.
Blood Rose performed a side slide, passing under the Stitch-Monster's crotch and stabbing her dagger into its abdominal cavity with a reverse grip.
The slit in her leather skirt tore wider as she kicked the monster's knee to flip herself over.
The entire sequence of movements was fluid and seamless.
Three Stitch-Monsters, cleared in forty seconds using poison mist and melee.
She walked back carrying the last dripping Mutant Core, her red lips curving upward as she stuffed the core into Su Xiaoqi's hand.
"Eat up, little girl."
Su Xiaoqi took the core, popped it into her mouth, and crunched it down. Her cheeks bulged as she gave a thumbs-up.
Chen Chen glanced at Blood Rose but offered no comment.
"Keep moving."
