207: Chapter 207 This punishment is even harsher than fighting a war.
Chen Chen looked toward Shen Wanbing.
"Can you make it deceive the first round of main cannon fire?"
Shen Wanbing did not answer immediately.
She expanded the underlying protocols of the camouflage core, and dozens of red failure probability lines flickered constantly.
"The base success rate is sixty percent."
"If we add the thermal sources from old thrusters, dummy loads from life-support pods, and residual scroll wave reflection layers, it can reach eighty percent."
Jiang Jiuyou interjected remotely.
"Eighty percent isn't enough."
"The vanguard reconnaissance team of the Tier 6 Hunter King isn't stupid."
Shen Wanbing looked up, her gaze falling on Shen Wanxing.
Shen Wanxing froze.
"Don't look at me."
Shen Wanbing's tone was flat.
"If Wanxing touches the core and the pile of old thrusters, perhaps we can push the camouflage effect up."
Shen Wanxing hugged her blanket and shrank even smaller.
"I just touched a tower earlier."
"I really just touched it."
Su Xiaoqi leaned over and comforted her earnestly.
"Big Sister Wanxing, after you finish touching this, we will sleep together."
Shen Wanxing's little face turned pale.
"Do you bite people when you sleep?"
Su Xiaoqi thought for a moment.
"I can't guarantee anything when I'm hungry."
Shen Wanxing immediately sprang up from the sofa and hid directly behind Chen Chen.
"I'll work!"
"I'll do it right now!"
Blood Rose sat on the other side, her long legs crossed beneath the slit of her red dress; having been backlashed by the purification pulse earlier, her complexion had not yet recovered.
She watched Shen Wanxing's terrified state and chuckled softly.
"The little kitten is so easy to coax."
As soon as she finished speaking, her chest felt tight, and she coughed lowly.
Chen Chen turned around and walked over to her.
"Hold out your hand."
Blood Rose raised her slender white wrist, her fingertips still bearing scorched marks from where the pink poisonous threads had been burned off.
She deliberately leaned forward, pressing her red dress's neckline to reveal a curve.
"Does Master want to personally check for residual toxicity?"
"I'm afraid it might be hidden deep."
Chen Chen raised his hand and pressed a finger against her forehead.
Blood Rose was pushed backward; just as she was about to continue teasing him, Chen Chen had already pressed her back onto the sofa.
"Shut up and recover."
She blinked, her red lips pressed lightly together.
"Are you being fierce with me?"
Chen Chen picked up the suppression needle handed over by Shen Wanbing and injected it directly into the outer side of her wrist.
Blood Rose's shoulders trembled slightly, but she was still defiant.
"Master really has no sense of romance."
Chen Chen looked down at her.
"One more word of nonsense, and I'll send you to the bottom hold to work as an inspector."
Blood Rose went silent instantly.
She rested her wrist on the sofa armrest, turned her face toward the car window, and let her red hair fall over her shoulder.
After a few seconds, she added in a low voice.
"That moment you pulled me earlier, you were quite fast."
Chen Chen didn't respond.
A small prompt popped up at the edge of the system panel.
[Blood Rose's bond fluctuation is accumulating.]
Chen Chen glanced at the prompt but didn't open it.
On the other side, Qin Hongye sat in a temporary medical seat, preparing to re-fasten her shoulder brace.
The recoil of the Meteor Orbit Sniper Cannon had bruised her right shoulder, and there were small lacerations near her shoulder blade.
Yet she only cursorily applied a hemostatic film.
"Five minutes in the medical pod is enough."
Copper Hammer frowned nearby.
"Five minutes can only stop the bleeding; the bone fissures haven't healed."
Qin Hongye reached out to grab her gun.
"Minor injury, it won't affect my shooting."
Chen Chen walked over and pressed down on the gun body.
Qin Hongye looked up, her dark brown pupils filled with intensity.
"I still have to guard the second shot."
Chen Chen didn't let go.
"Sit back down."
Qin Hongye gritted her teeth.
"I am not Shen Wanxing; don't use that kitten-coaxing act on me."
Chen Chen reached out and undid the fastening straps on her shoulder.
The shoulder brace had left welts on her black tactical vest; her cold-white shoulder line was exposed, and the skin near the wound was still slightly red.
Qin Hongye's body tensed up.
"I'll take it off myself."
Chen Chen spoke calmly.
"My sniper's hands cannot be ruined."
Qin Hongye's movements stopped.
Her earlobes quickly turned red, but she still stubbornly refused to lower her head.
"Fine."
"Then for tonight's extra training, don't go easy on me."
Blood Rose weakly raised her hand from the sofa.
"Big Sister Qin, your injury really knows how to pick its timing."
Qin Hongye turned the gun barrel toward her.
Blood Rose immediately put her hand down.
"I'll shut up and recover."
Shen Wanxing was dragged by Su Xiaoqi to the scrap metal pile outside the canyon.
Dozens of old thrusters had been temporarily brought over and piled together, sparking.
Shen Wanxing hugged her blanket, her toes inching forward.
"Will it explode?"
Mio floated by from the side.
"Under normal circumstances, no."
Shen Wanxing was immediately vigilant.
"Then what about abnormal circumstances?"
Mio paused.
"Around you people, there are rarely any normal circumstances."
Shen Wanxing turned her head and wanted to leave.
Chen Chen raised his hand and pressed down on her collar.
"Touch it."
Shen Wanxing's eyes turned red with grievance, and she extended a finger to poke the first old thruster.
Hum.
A golden light lit up.
[Lucky Critical triggered.]
[Old thruster stability efficiency increased.]
The second one.
[Five-times Critical triggered.]
[Obtained: Thruster thermal source camouflage module × 12.]
Shen Wanbing looked at the data, her speaking speed increasing.
"It's effective."
"The thermal source curve is already approaching the exhaust plume of a damaged sea-air fortress."
Shen Wanxing muttered quietly.
"You guys say it's effective every time, and then I have to keep touching them."
Su Xiaoqi stood by, holding the dismantled turret wreckage to shield her from the wind.
"Big Sister Wanxing, come on."
"After you finish touching them, I'll sleep with you, and I won't bite you."
Shen Wanxing was even more scared.
"Do you have to specifically emphasize that?"
She touched the camouflage core for the third time.
This time, the golden light did not dissipate immediately.
Purple light patterns expanded from the edge of the core, drilling into the old thrusters, damaged energy tower shells, and abandoned life-support pod simulators.
[Lucky Critical triggered.]
[Ten-times multiplier activated.]
[SS-grade Camouflage Coordinate Core hidden effect activated.]
[Residual scroll fake pulse delayed rebound: After the fake target suffers a high-energy strike, it can continue to release a segment of the residual scroll holder's escape fluctuation.]
Shen Wanbing looked up abruptly.
"It's done."
Jiang Jiuyou also paused for a beat in the remote channel.
"Explain."
Shen Wanbing projected the effect onto the command screen.
"After the fake target is blown up, it won't disappear immediately."
"It will continue to emit a segment of escape fluctuation outward."
"The Star-Splitting Hunting Group will misjudge the target as heavily injured but not dead, and continue to flee to the northwest."
Mio stared at the simulated route, her electronic pupils shrinking.
"This is equivalent to... being blown to death and then faking a corpse to deceive people?"
Su Xiaoqi blinked.
"Sounds very impressive."
Shen Wanxing immediately hugged her blanket tightly and spoke earnestly.
"So can I sleep now?"
Chen Chen checked the countdown.
"Get on the vehicle, back to Meteor Crystal City."
"Leave the core to Copper Hammer."
Shen Wanxing just breathed a sigh of relief.
Shen Wanbing added.
"When we get back, you still need to touch a few sets of camouflage shells to ensure the wreckage's recognition level."
Shen Wanxing went limp.
"I hate scrap metal."
...
Meteor Crystal City had already been dismantled into a large construction site.
Crystal rail cannons were being hoisted down from the city walls one by one.
The old market had been swept by the Madam and her people until almost nothing, not even the signs, was left.
She wore a short leather jacket, her fiery red hair tied behind her head, an abacus in one hand and a spatial bag in the other, walking with a brisk, gusty air.
"Dismantle this counter."
"Move that row of aristocratic porcelain away."
"We also need these few crates of old spices; don't ask, they can be sold."
A caravan member pointed to the restroom of an old aristocratic mansion.
"Madam, do we also need this gold-inlaid toilet?"
The Madam turned around, her fox ears twitching.
"Of course we do."
Mio happened to see this through remote monitoring and almost disconnected.
"What strategic value does this thing have?"
The Madam was dead serious.
"In the apocalypse, luxury goods are the spiritual pillars for rebuilding civilization."
Pig-Faced Butcher passed by carrying a meat locker freezer and added a remark.
"If you melt it down, you can make a pot."
Mio was silent for a full three seconds.
"Your civilization rebuilding is quite down-to-earth."
On the other side, at the entrance of the armory.
Jiang Jiuyou and Yi Chang were stuck on the transportation order again.
Jiang Jiuyou pointed at the mobile artillery vehicle queue.
"Move the cannons first."
"The Star-Splitting Hunting Group's vanguard reconnaissance team could change course at any time."
"Without outer firepower, the main body will be chased and bitten when passing through the gate."
Yi Chang threw out the ore vein cutting curve.
"The ore core has already been cut to sixty percent."
"If we drag it out any longer, the star core crystal sand will undergo secondary sedimentation."
"Move the ore core first."
Jiang Jiuyou tapped her fingertips on the tabletop.
"Cannons can save lives."
Yi Chang replied even faster.
"Ore can make the cannons last longer."
Just as the two were about to continue, Chen Chen's voice came through the communicator.
"Whoever argues will go and count boxes for Shen Wanxing."
The armory went silent instantly.
Hearing this from afar, Shen Wanxing immediately poked her head out from the blanket.
"No!"
Jiang Jiuyou raised her hand and changed the mobile artillery vehicle priority to staggered transport.
Yi Chang also divided the ore core convoy into three batches.
Neither of them said another word.
Blood Rose leaned against the carriage door and laughed softly.
"This punishment is worse than war."
Shen Wanxing nodded earnestly.
"It really is quite harsh."
