18: The truth of the prophecy

The suddenly appearing girl immediately captivated Han Fei, making it difficult for him to look away.

Soon, Ye Zhanying's voice rang out beside his ear, introducing her: "She is Heitong, a Level Three Main Combat Member of our Twelfth Squad. She possesses superpowers like the Psychic Shield and Mass Transfer. From now on, she will be responsible for protecting your safety."

Ye Zhanying paused briefly, looking solemnly at Han Fei, and deliberately emphasized her next words.

"Of course, according to the agreement we signed, Heitong will strictly abide by the rules, maintain an appropriate distance from your daily life, and will never interfere with or monitor your every move without cause. She will only silently hide in the shadows, awaiting orders, and step in immediately to protect you whenever you encounter danger or face difficulty."

Hearing this, Han Fei's heart immediately relaxed somewhat.

He possessed a Cheat, and now was not the time for it to be exposed.

Although exposing the Infinite Matryoshka Plug-in might not be an issue, what if the military harbored malicious intent and captured him to use as a guinea pig?

Currently, he had absolutely no power to resist the military; his life and death rested entirely on their whim, so Han Fei had to be careful.

After Ye Zhanying gave a few more instructions, a sudden phone call made her expression turn serious.

After hanging up, she spoke to Han Fei with a tense face: "I have some urgent matters to deal with. What are your plans? Will you stay here, or go home for a while?"

Han Fei thought for a moment before replying, "I want to go home first. There are some things at home I haven't dealt with yet."

His room was piled high with treasure chests, and the door had been destroyed by the Garbage Monster. If he didn't return soon, the chests might be taken by others.

Ye Zhanying nodded. "I'll have someone take you back. I will contact you once I finish my urgent tasks."

"Alright."

After Ye Zhanying quickly gave a few instructions, she was enveloped in a yellow light and instantly vanished.

The next moment, her figure appeared aboard a flying saucer.

Simultaneously, a transparent, crystal-like floating screen silently materialized before her.

Light and shadow intersected on its surface, giving it a strong futuristic feel.

A beautiful blonde, blue-eyed woman appeared on the screen.

This beautiful woman bore a striking resemblance to Ye Zhanying.

Whether it was the facial contours, the curve of the nose bridge, or the subtle smile playing on the corner of her lips, they looked as if they were carved from the same mold, allowing anyone to immediately discern the extraordinary relationship between the two.

The person on the screen quickly spoke: "Do you think that young man could be the one mentioned in the Great Prophecy Granny's prediction?"

"I can't be certain yet, I can only say it's possible."

Ye Zhanying's expression tightened slightly as she recalled the contents of the classified intelligence report.

Although the classified report, which carried the fate of countless people, mentioned the matter of the opposing treasure chests, that was merely the tip of the iceberg, occupying a very limited amount of space.

The core content that truly shocked Ye Zhanying and could not be ignored concerned the key to the future survival of Dragon Country: a mysterious "child of prophecy."

The Great Prophecy Granny predicted that an incomparably terrifying catastrophe was about to descend upon Dragon Country.

That crisis would be like rolling black clouds, engulfing the entire nation.

Neither bustling cities nor remote villages would be spared.

It was a genuine crisis that threatened the nation's collapse!

Fortunately, at the critical moment of that crisis, a young hero would step forward.

He would be like the first ray of dawn breaking through the darkness, bringing hope and saving Dragon Country from disaster.

However, that hero might not necessarily appear.

The Great Prophecy Granny claimed that if Dragon Country made certain wrong choices, then when the catastrophe arrived, no hero would appear, and the only outcome for Dragon Country would be annihilation!

No one doubted the Great Prophecy Granny's prediction, because she possessed the diamond grade superpower, Absolute Premonition!

Absolute Premonition had never been wrong; every time, it accurately foretold the future.

The reason Dragon Country had consistently made the most correct choices over the past century was because of the Great Prophecy Granny's Absolute Premonition.

"Since you think it's possible, then let's proceed entirely according to the Great Prophecy Granny's prediction," the person on the screen instructed seriously.

Ye Zhanying nodded, agreeing with the sentiment in her heart.

The Great Prophecy Granny predicted that the child of prophecy would distinguish himself during a city crisis.

He would rescue the city from crisis and gain the military's attention.

The military would greatly desire to recruit him, but he would yearn for freedom. No matter how excellent the conditions offered by the military, he would always choose freedom.

The Great Prophecy Granny emphasized here that if the military encountered someone similar to the child of prophecy, they absolutely must not force him to join the military, nor must they restrict his freedom.

The best choice was to cooperate with him, maintaining an equal relationship.

Only in this way would the child of prophecy become a hero in the future and save Dragon Country from disaster.

This was precisely why, among the five contracts previously presented to Han Fei, there was the extremely lenient "Partnership Cultivation" contract.

Otherwise, given the military's dominance, how could they possibly sign such an equal contract with Han Fei? At the very least, they would seize the leading role and restrict Han Fei in multiple ways, rather than allowing him the freedom of action he currently had.

After all, Han Fei was likely the first professional of the Dual-treasure chest Era; the military could not possibly overstate his importance.

Under normal circumstances, the military would certainly use strong-arm tactics to hold him firmly in their grasp and plan out his future life.

In the face of immense national interests, nothing was too great to sacrifice.

However.

The Great Prophecy Granny had emphatically stressed this point.

Under no circumstances must the child of prophecy's freedom be restricted.

They could not coerce him, threaten him, or allow him to form a negative impression of the military. Furthermore, they had to give him sufficient respect, and they could not monitor him or probe into his privacy.

If even one of these points was handled poorly, it could lead to the child of prophecy failing to become a hero, and Dragon Country would naturally be destroyed as a result.

The Great Prophecy Granny's prediction hung like a sharp sword over Ye Zhanying's head, forcing her, a high-ranking military official, to maintain kindness when speaking to Han Fei and grant him the greatest degree of freedom.

"Is he truly the child of prophecy? If I make a mistake..."

Ye Zhanying felt a little heavy-hearted.

Although Han Fei's performance so far aligned with the Great Prophecy Granny's prediction.

Distinguishing himself during a city crisis.

Being discovered by the military.

Being very young, not yet over 20, clearly a young man.

Facing the excellent benefits offered by the military, he steadfastly held onto his original intention and yearned for freedom.

All of these points matched the prediction.

However, based solely on this, it was impossible to confirm that Han Fei was the child of prophecy.

After all, the Great Prophecy Granny had not predicted the exact time.

It was highly possible that in the near future, one or even multiple children of prophecy matching the prediction could appear.

If Ye Zhanying was wrong and Han Fei was not the child of prophecy.

Then her current decision to allow Han Fei freedom would be a massive mistake.

Failing to properly cultivate the first professional of the Dual-treasure chest Era and letting him develop freely was a complete waste of advantage—an offense that would typically lead to a court-martial.

The person on the screen noticed Ye Zhanying's worry and said in a very resolute voice: "Zhanying, you must understand, even if there is only a one-in-ten-thousand chance that he is the child of prophecy, we must treat him entirely according to the Great Prophecy Granny's prediction!"

"This concerns the survival of our Dragon Country; nothing is more important than this matter!"
