198: Counterattack in the Dark

The night grew thicker, and the torches on the Great Wall cast a faint glow, illuminating Han Fei’s stern face.

He stood at the edge of the Great Wall, his gaze cold and resolute, looking into the deep darkness—an unknown Domain he was about to step into.

He had already sensed the approximate location of the enemy, an obscure place far from the Great Wall, where the power of darkness permeated like an invisible poisonous mist, slowly seeping into the land.

“Since you’re hiding in the dark, I’ll drag you out,” Han Fei muttered, a cold glint in his eyes.

He knew this operation would be extremely dangerous.

Since the enemy had the ability to inflict mental erosion, they would clearly not be easily defeated, and might even be hiding more powerful forces.

But he had made up his mind; no matter how dangerous the path ahead, he would step forward and utterly destroy the source of darkness.

He did not say goodbye to anyone, nor did he notify other Cultivators.

This was his solo mission; he didn’t need companions, no burdens, just him alone was enough.

The defense of the Great Wall still needed others, while he chose to go alone to the core of the darkness, to eradicate that unknown threat.

Under the moonlight, Han Fei’s figure quickly disappeared into the shadows of the Great Wall, heading alone towards the source of darkness.

Under the night sky, the surroundings were eerily silent, with only the cold wind howling in the wilderness, as if playing a dirge for the impending battle.

Han Fei’s steps were light and steady; he circulated his spiritual power to its utmost, his body merging with the darkness, avoiding all unnecessary sounds.

After several hours of walking, he finally arrived at the area filled with the power of darkness.

Before him lay a desolate ruin, with crumbling walls and scattered stones, carrying an ancient Aura, as if this place had once experienced a devastating catastrophe.

Han Fei looked around, his brows slightly furrowed.

The ruins exuded a strange Aura, and the power of darkness enveloped the surroundings like a thick fog, giving him a sense of oppression.

He took a deep breath and slowly stepped into the ruins.

The moment he stepped into the ruins, the surrounding air suddenly became exceptionally heavy, as if an invisible force was slowly squeezing his body, trying to bind him in place.

“Already prepared, are we?” Han Fei sneered, his internal spiritual power burning like a fierce flame, instantly shattering the oppressive force.

He continued forward, steadily approaching the source of darkness.

As he delved deeper, the power of darkness around him grew more intense, and the decaying Aura carried endless malice, as if it wanted to devour all living beings.

Han Fei stared coldly ahead, his heart unwavering.

He had already sensed that in the center of these ruins, there was a powerful energy source—that was the core of the dark power.

“Come out, I know you’re here,” Han Fei’s voice echoed in the darkness, cold and fearless, carrying an undeniable resolve.

After a moment of silence, a low, sinister laugh rang out in the darkness.

“To think there’s such a foolish Cultivator, daring to trespass into my Domain alone; truly seeking death,” the voice carried endless malice, echoing from all directions, as if the entire ruin was its Domain.

Han Fei sneered, “A coward who hides his head and shows his tail, worthy of being called a power?”

His internal spiritual power erupted violently, and he, like a sharp sword, plunged straight into the core of the darkness, with an unstoppable Aura.

A tall figure suddenly appeared in the darkness, imbued with a heavy power of darkness, as if it were the Incarnation of darkness itself, its eyes gleaming with a faint blue light, coldly staring at Han Fei.

“How dare you be so presumptuous! Today, I shall let you taste despair!” the dark figure roared, and with a raise of its hand, a black ripple surged towards Han Fei, carrying endless destructive power.

Han Fei’s eyes turned cold; he formed a hand seal, and his internal spiritual power condensed into a shield, blocking the black ripple in front of him. The ripple struck the shield, emitting a harsh grinding sound, trying to corrode his spiritual power.

However, Han Fei’s spiritual power was exceptionally pure; the black ripple could not penetrate even an inch, and was instead shattered and dispersed.

“Is that all you’ve got?” Han Fei said coldly, then his figure moved like lightning, suddenly closing in on the dark figure, his fist carrying a fierce Qi, smashing hard into the opponent’s chest.

The dark figure instantly raised a hand to block, but Han Fei’s strength was fiercer than he had imagined. The spiritual power crashed into him like a mountain torrent, shaking him back several steps.

The dark figure roared, a venomous light flashing in its eyes. It spread its hands, and the surrounding power of darkness rapidly condensed, forming a giant black vortex that enveloped it.

Han Fei watched this scene coldly, realizing that this was the enemy’s true power.

The black vortex carried an Aura of world-ending destruction, as if it would devour everything.

Han Fei did not retreat; his internal spiritual power erupted, he formed a hand seal, and softly chanted an incantation. A faint golden light appeared around him; this was a secret technique he had comprehended under the guidance of the Luna Fairy Spirit, capable of resisting the erosion of darkness.

“You think your darkness can devour me?” Han Fei said coldly, then with a fierce wave of his hands, the golden light transformed into a sharp sword, piercing straight into the core of the black vortex.

The golden sword light pierced through the darkness, instantly striking the dark figure in the center of the vortex. The figure let out a shrill scream, its body began to twist, struggling as if being torn apart, trying to escape.

“You are merely a Puppet of darkness; what right do you have to contend with me?” Han Fei said ruthlessly, his spiritual power surging into the golden sword light like a tidal wave, completely enveloping the dark figure.

The dark figure’s body gradually disintegrated under the scorching golden light, emitting a strong stench of decay, as if the resentment of countless undead was struggling and roaring.

“You can’t kill me! I am part of the endless darkness; you Cultivators will all become nourishment for darkness!” the figure let out a frantic roar, as if making its final struggle.

Han Fei’s gaze was utterly cold, not wavering in the slightest.

He took a deep breath, condensed all his spiritual power in his palm, and thrust it forward. The golden light instantly expanded, carrying endless might, completely engulfing the dark figure.

The shrill screams gradually faded into the darkness, and the dark figure’s body slowly disintegrated under the golden light, finally turning into a wisp of black smoke and completely dissipating into the air.

Silence returned to the ruins, and the power of darkness gradually receded. The decaying Aura in the air finally disappeared.

Han Fei slowly retracted his spiritual power, feeling a deep fatigue wash over him, yet his heart was incredibly calm.

He knew that this enemy was not the true entity, but merely an extension or Clone of some power.

But even so, he had already severely wounded the opponent; at least for a period, the Great Wall would no longer be threatened by mental erosion.

Han Fei looked at the empty ruins, his eyes still cold.

He knew that the true enemy was still hidden in deeper darkness; this victory was only temporary.

But he did not flinch because of this; instead, his resolve grew even stronger.

He would return to the Great Wall, continue to guard this land, until all darkness was completely dispelled.

The night was still deep, the cold wind howled, and Han Fei stood alone in the ruins, looking up at the starry sky, his eyes filled with an incredibly firm light.

“No matter how deep the darkness, one day, I will destroy you all,” he murmured, his tone filled with undeniable determination.

Turning, he slowly left the ruins and walked towards the Great Wall.

His figure gradually faded into the night, solitary and resolute.

He knew that this path was still full of unknowns and dangers, but he no longer feared it.

Because he was already prepared to use his strength to tear through the darkness and welcome the coming dawn.
