193: Lone traveler in the night
Night enveloped the Great Wall, and all around was dead silence, with only the cold wind whistling through the cracks in the city walls, emitting a mournful wail.
Han Fei stood alone on the city wall, gazing into the depths of darkness, as if some invisible presence there was silently watching him.
He knew, that was the new enemy.
Even though there was no fear in his heart, he still felt an inexplicable pressure.
This was the dark curse brought by the resurrected wolf corpses, and even more, the cold killing intent emanating from the power hidden behind them.
"The night will devour the weak, and I, will walk alone in this darkness," he murmured softly, a chilling glint flashing in his eyes.
Not far behind him, the Cultivators and warriors were still busily clearing the battlefield, whispering to each other, an oppressive atmosphere hanging about them, seemingly preparing for the next sudden battle.
No one noticed Han Fei's presence, nor did anyone know that he had already embarked on a new path of cultivation alone.
This was his chosen method: to grow silently, to accumulate strength quietly, unknown to others.
He knew he did not belong to those Cultivators who sought glory, nor did he need to stand in the light and become the focus of everyone's attention.
He was just a lone wolf, a shadow silently guarding in the darkness.
Suddenly, a low howl echoed from the darkness; the sound was hoarse and piercing, as if coming from the depths of Hell, carrying a chilling and unsettling Qi.
Han Fei's gaze sharpened slightly, and his body leaned forward, ready to strike at any moment.
The howl grew closer and closer, and in the darkness, countless pairs of eyes, glowing with an eerie blue light, vaguely appeared, revealing endless malice within their ash-grey indifference.
They were the resurrected wolf corpses; they had once again crawled out from underground, bringing with them an undead curse, attempting to tear apart this land of protection.
"These beasts, they still dare to come?" Han Fei's voice was as cold as a sharp blade, carrying a hint of suppressed killing intent.
He waited quietly, waiting for the wolf corpses to approach, his fists slightly clenched, the spiritual Qi within him gradually rising, as if ready to erupt at any moment.
These resurrected wolf corpses were undoubtedly powerful; they not only possessed the ability to revive, but even after each defeat, they would rise again in the darkness, more ferocious than before.
But Han Fei was fearless.
This was precisely the tempering he needed.
Only under such pressure could he continuously Breakthrough his limits, only then could he completely release the nascent spiritual Qi within him, refining it to be purer and stronger.
The first wolf corpse, carrying a putrid stench, lunged at Han Fei, its sharp claws glinting coldly in the moonlight, as if to tear everything to shreds.
Han Fei's figure, however, was like a ghost; with a light leap, he dodged the claw's attack, then he swiftly struck the wolf corpse's flank with a palm, spiritual Qi exploding like flames, instantly tearing a huge gash in the wolf corpse's abdomen.
However, Han Fei did not stop.
He coldly stared at the wolf corpse's wound, watching it rapidly heal in a very short time, as if protected by some evil power.
"Indeed, it's the curse of resurrection," he murmured to himself, a cold light flashing in his eyes.
But he was not alarmed.
He knew that as long as he kept attacking, wearing down the resurrection power within them, he would eventually find a solution.
"The more undead they are, the more I want to see just how resilient they can be," a cold smile played on Han Fei's lips.
His figure moved like lightning, palm shadows carrying fierce winds, striking the wolf corpse's body continuously; each strike carried the pure spiritual Qi within him, tearing apart the wolf corpse's muscles, even faintly revealing its bones.
However, those wolf corpses, as if oblivious to pain, continued to snarl and struggle, lunging at Han Fei.
Their eyes glowed with an eerie blue light, carrying deep malice, as if mocking Han Fei's helplessness.
Han Fei paid no attention, his gaze growing even colder.
His attacks became more furious, the spiritual Qi in his palm burning hot like fire, continuously bombarding the core parts of the wolf corpses, attempting to completely destroy them.
Each attack carried the long-accumulated power within him, as if to completely tear apart this darkness.
This solo battle was unknown to anyone, and no one witnessed it.
Only Han Fei, alone, faced this group of undead monsters, alone in the darkness, fighting against malice.
The sounds of battle quickly attracted the attention of other Cultivators; several lights flickered in the distance, as if someone had noticed the commotion and was rushing over.
Han Fei glanced at the lights in the distance, a hint of indifference flashing in his eyes.
He didn't need help.
These wolf corpses were his own battle, his solo cultivation Trial; any intervention was unnecessary.
Thus, he accelerated his attacks, spiritual Qi boiling within him, pouring out with an unstoppable force.
He moved like the wind among the wolf corpses, his fists and feet carrying fierce gusts, accurately landing on the vital points of each enemy, tearing their bodies apart one by one.
The wolf corpses' resurrection power gradually slowed under his fierce offensive; their bodies could no longer heal as quickly as before, and their movements began to become sluggish and stiff.
"Finally can't hold on anymore?" Han Fei's voice was as cold as ice.
The spiritual Qi within him had already reached its Peak; the pressure brought by the battle completely activated every bit of spiritual Qi within him, as if at this moment, his body had reached some ultimate state.
The last wolf corpse lunged at him with a desperate howl; Han Fei sneered, and fiercely struck its head with a palm, spiritual Qi instantly surged in, shattering the wolf corpse's head.
In the darkness, the wolf corpse's body slowly turned to dust, dissipating in the wind.
Han Fei let out a long breath, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and felt a long-lost sense of exhilaration.
This battle made him realize that his strength had fully entered the A-rank, and had been further tempered and consolidated in the battle.
He looked back at the lights on the Great Wall; people were still busy there, but no one knew what had just happened.
Han Fei smiled faintly, then turned and melted into the night, disappearing into the shadows of the Great Wall.
He did not return to report the results of the battle, nor did he seek anyone's praise.
All of this was merely a part of his solitary cultivation.
His Dao was destined to be a lone journey in the darkness, destined to be without applause or cheers.
But this was also the path he had chosen, a path of battle that belonged to him alone.
