202: Special Forces soldier Guo Shu

Guo Shu climbed onto the small wooden boat and had only rowed a few strokes when a wave hit him. Losing his balance, he tumbled into the water with a splash.

This threw Guo Shu into a panic. Although he grew up by the water, that didn't mean he knew how to swim. After flailing around for a while, he finally shakily climbed back onto the shore. Once he recovered and looked over, the box was long gone; only the boat remained, rocking back and forth with the waves.

But at that moment, Guo Shu had no mind to think about the box. Covered in a cold sweat mixed with the icy lake water, a gust of wind made him shiver uncontrollably. He quickly scurried back to the house, wiggling his behind as he ran.

After warming up by the heater for a while, he finally regained his composure. He then made a phone call to his uncle to explain the situation.

"Are you a fucking idiot!!! Are you a fucking idiot!!!"

"I told you long ago, just drive over normally. How much trouble could that be? You're out there rowing that damn little broken boat every day. Do you think you're Special Forces or something!!!"

Listening to his uncle's roaring, Guo Shu felt utterly aggrieved.

"I was just being cautious for safety's sake. That's how they do it on TV..."

Before he could finish his sentence, his uncle couldn't hold back and unleashed another torrent.

"Act, act, act, act your mother's Team Name!!! Are you a fucking idiot!!"

"You know damn well it's all acted on TV, and you still go and copy it!!!"

"Do you know what they're saying at the bureau? They all say you're like Special Forces!!! Rowing that damn broken-ass boat for several kilometers in the middle of the night!!! How the hell didn't you drown!!"

After yelling for a good while, the person on the other end of the phone finally calmed down.

"Don't try to do anything about it tonight. Wait until tomorrow during the day to figure out how to retrieve it."

Hearing that his uncle was no longer angry, Guo Shu finally breathed a sigh of relief. As for going to salvage it now, he had absolutely no desire. He knew perfectly well which was more important: money or his life.

"Okay, Uncle. I'll take care of it first thing tomorrow morning."

"Mm. Next time, install a Diesel Engine on the boat. It won't cost much. Even if you enjoy playing around, you need to pay attention to safety."

Guo Shu chuckled. "Uncle, I'm not tired. It's mainly that engines are noisy and loud, too conspicuous, not stealthy."

There was a long silence on the other end of the line. Just as Guo Shu was looking puzzled, a furious roar came through the phone.

"Stealthy your mother's hammer! How come you didn't drown! Huh??? How come you didn't drown!"

"Do you think you're so damn awesome! Why don't you go compete in the Olympics!!!"

"You deliver a gift like a damn spy making a secret rendezvous!!! Are you sick in the head!"

After venting for a while longer, the other party directly hung up, afraid Guo Shu might spout some other bizarre nonsense.

Feeling aggrieved, Guo Shu tossed his phone onto the sofa. His mood was completely ruined.

Early the next morning, Guo Shu went straight to the Fishing Ground, locked the entrance gate tightly, and hung up a sign.

"Temporarily Closed."

Then he went back inside, plopped onto the sofa, and fell asleep. It wasn't until noon that he woke up naturally and staggered down to the shore.

Last night, he hadn't thought much about it and was even a bit happy to have escaped with his life. But after a night's sleep, Guo Shu's heart was now bleeding!

A whole case of Golden Leaf!!! An entire box!!!

Fifty cartons in a case, each carton bought for 900, that's 45,000 yuan!!!

That's a whole month's earnings!!!

Please don't let it be unrecoverable~

Shaking, Guo Shu picked up the fishing net he used maybe once a year and cautiously climbed onto the boat.

"It should be around here~"

Muttering to himself, Guo Shu cast the net down. After waiting a bit, he pulled it up to find nothing.

He cast the net to the side. Still nothing.

After struggling from afternoon until evening, Guo Shu was utterly exhausted, his legs trembling as he crawled back onto the shore.

His legs weren't tired, but squatting on that wobbly boat was truly terrifying. He had been shaking all afternoon.

Back in the house, seeing several missed calls on his phone, Guo Shu wiped the sweat from his face and called his uncle back.

"How did it go? Did you retrieve it?"

As soon as the call connected, his uncle's voice came through.

"Ah, no. I worked on it all afternoon. I'm exhausted."

Guo Shu's voice was full of weariness, hoping to calm his uncle's temper.

It worked. His uncle's gentle voice came from the other end.

"Did you go to retrieve it alone this afternoon?"

"Yeah, it was exhausting!"

On the other end of the line, there was a long silence after hearing Guo Shu's words.

"Do you really think you're Special Forces? Since when do you know how to dive? Are you omnipotent? Why don't you just fly up to the sky?"

The sudden barrage of questions through the quiet phone hit Guo Shu like a physical blow, leaving him dizzy.

"What else could I do? I couldn't let an outsider retrieve it. What if they discovered it?"

"You're afraid of being discovered? You're fucking afraid of being discovered, yet you buy a Mercedes??? Buy it if you want, but you also set off those damn Ten-Thousand-Cracker Firecrackers for over half an hour???"

Guo Shu scratched his head. "But the money I earned is legitimate. If I hide it, isn't that like Wearing Fine Clothes at Night—no one sees it!"

"Screw your 'Wearing Fine Clothes at Night'! You're even spouting fancy phrases now. If you can't handle it, let someone else do it. Are you implying that gift-giving is all dirty?"

As he spoke, his uncle's voice suddenly grew calm, so calm it sent a shiver of fear through Guo Shu. He felt he had said something wrong.

"Uncle, I was wrong. I'll hire someone to retrieve it tomorrow."

The call ended. Guo Shu let out a long sigh, tossed his phone aside, and lay down on the sofa.

I clearly fell into the water right there. How come I can't retrieve it~

Staring at the ceiling, Guo Shu couldn't help but ponder. Since he was going to hire outsiders to retrieve it anyway, he might as well reopen the Fishing Ground. He could even earn back the money spent on hiring the salvagers. Thinking this, he got up and trotted over to the gate to take down the 'Closed' sign.

Although hiring outsiders didn't fit his cautious persona, it seemed there was no other good option at the moment.

Having resolved this in his mind, Guo Shu's mood improved again. He called a nearby deli to deliver some Braised Meats and happily started drinking... "Holy shit, Brother Wo Zi, don't you ever call yourself an Angler again!"

"Truly·Everything Can Be Fished, you directly hooked a whole case of Golden Leaf!"

"What's the big deal about a case of cigarettes? How much can that stuff be worth~"

"Market price is 50,000. Buying a whole case probably gets a discount, but it still starts at over 40,000. That's not worth money?"

Holding the Gimbal, Gao Xiaofan looked at the scattered cigarettes in front of Qiu Gu and couldn't help but click his tongue in amazement.

"What do we do now, Xiaofan?"

Qiu Gu also looked shocked.

"What do you mean, what do we do? Are you planning to smoke it yourself? We don't even know if this stuff is real or fake~"

Gao Xiaofan curled his lip.
