152: The assassin arrives at the dragon camp!
Dragon Battlefield Outpost 01.
Several second-tier students from West Wind Academy appeared at the outpost entrance, all dressed in casual clothes and wearing soldier badges.
The leader was an Assassin, who had Advanced to Shadow Assassin after the second tier. His Vanish skill was very impressive, and his strength was quite good.
"According to Young Master Kong's arrangements, we'll first spread out to gather information and then regroup at the outpost entrance."
"Yes, Captain."
The students nodded and dispersed.
About ten minutes later, the group reassembled.
"Captain, we found out that Xia Qi went to the Military Permit Office and the Exchange Office."
"He left the outpost two hours ago. According to the guards, he headed northeast alone."
"There are a few dungeons in the northeast. I'll check them later."
The Assassin Captain took out a map, confirmed the direction, and roughly determined the area.
"There are only two dungeons around Rank 30 in that area."
"Dragonkin Camp and Ogre Manor."
"The two dungeons are not far apart. We'll split into two teams, each going to one dungeon to stake out."
"Remember, once you find the target, don't rush to act. Use the special communicator to contact us to prevent the target from escaping. You must kill them in one blow to eliminate future troubles."
"Understood, Captain."
After giving his orders, the Assassin led a Mage and a Warrior from his team to Ogre Manor.
The other three formed a small team consisting of a Knight, a Mage, and an Archer.
The six people split into two teams, heading to the Dragonkin Camp dungeon and the Ogre Manor dungeon respectively.
At the same time, Xia Qi, having traveled intermittently, was already close to his destination, the Dragonkin Camp dungeon.
"Another five minutes of travel, and I'll be there soon."
As he got closer to the dungeon, the monsters along the way began to decrease significantly. The mist was thin, and he could already see the scenery a hundred meters away.
In this situation, it was likely that passing Professional had already cleared the area. New monsters were just spawning or wandering in from other regions, so their numbers were greatly reduced.
Demon Slayer!
With a soft shout, the Qi and blood power within his body condensed. The longsword in his hand emitted an eerie red glow as he swiftly struck, splitting a monster in two.
Xia Qi looked straight ahead and could already faintly see the flickering firelight.
[Killed 35th Rank Two-Faced Demon, Experience +500,000, Military Merit +1]
[Obtained Two-Faced Demon Leg Bone X2]
On his shoulder, the Private badge was glowing faintly, absorbing Military Merit.
Killing monsters not only yielded Materials and experience but also Military Merit.
However, as he killed his way through, the Military Merit acquisition ratio was not 1:1.
For some monsters, Xia Qi had to kill ten to get one Military Merit point, while for others, three or five would yield one. Xia Qi still hadn't figured out the exact calculation method.
But one thing was clear: the higher the Rank of the monster, the more Military Merit was gained from killing it; that was certain.
Rank 35 monsters in the Dragon Battlefield were at the bottom of the monster hierarchy, and their strength was also the lowest, so naturally, they didn't yield much Military Merit.
To gain more Military Merit, one either had to kill higher-Rank monsters or elite-Rank or boss-Rank monsters.
However, he hadn't encountered such monsters yet.
The soldiers within the outpost also regularly cleared the area to prevent excessive monster breeding around the outpost and to avoid harassment.
Therefore, it was normal for Xia Qi not to encounter Advanced monsters in his current location on the battlefield's edge.
After advancing another five hundred meters or so, his vision suddenly cleared. The Devilish Qi-condensed mist dissipated completely, as if it had encountered a natural enemy.
A giant swirling teleportation gate appeared before Xia Qi's eyes; he had arrived at the dungeon entrance.
Flashes of firelight illuminated an area around the dungeon entrance.
Many Professionals were gathered at the dungeon entrance.
There were people from Dragon Country and also from other countries.
These people were mostly gathered around their respective campfires, eating barbecue and resting on the spot.
Listening to the lively discussions, Xia Qi felt like he had arrived at an outdoor dungeon, and his tense mood relaxed.
The monsters near the dungeon entrance had already been cleared. It was very safe here.
Even if new monsters spawned, with so many Professionals here, they would be quickly killed.
Xia Qi put away his crimson longsword and walked over silently.
His arrival still attracted the attention of quite a few people.
"Such a young Professional, probably not even twenty years old."
"A Black Iron Private, without even a single star. Looks like it's his first time on the battlefield."
"So young and daring to come alone. Being able to reach here means he has some skill."
"Young man, want to chat? Brother Bing knows everything."
A group of big men, drinking and eating roasted meat, were commenting on Xia Qi.
The people here were very uninhibited, not as reserved as those back home.
The moment Xia Qi stepped into the area, several Detection spells were cast on him.
"How boring. Why wear a shielding badge?"
"Can't see his Rank, but he probably hasn't reached the second tier yet."
"Young man, want to team up? We're still short a person here; we can let you make up the numbers."
"Dragon Country people don't deceive Dragon Country people. The fact that you could get here means you have strength. No matter what Rank you are, we'll let you join."
Most of the people at the dungeon entrance were Dragon Country soldiers, and they were all very enthusiastic.
On the battlefield, people wouldn't mock Xia Qi for his low Rank; instead, they admired him for being able to reach this area.
Such enthusiasm was not seen back home.
It could only be seen on the battlefield and in military camps.
When traveling abroad, Dragon Country people were very united, a point that many other countries could not achieve.
Xia Qi shook his head and politely declined these soldiers. He was used to being a lone wolf.
He truly couldn't adapt to going into dungeons with someone else's team.
Seeing Xia Qi refuse, those people didn't say anything, continuing to drink, eat meat, and chat.
Approaching the dungeon vortex, Xia Qi checked the dungeon information.
The dungeon was named [Dragonkin Camp], and its Rank was 33, making it a low-Rank dungeon on the battlefield.
The difficulty was divided into five Ranks:
Normal, Hard, Elite, nightmare, Purgatory.
Just like back home, after dungeons surpassed Rank 30, a Purgatory difficulty was added.
At the same time, Dragonkin Camp's requirements for the number of people and Rank were relatively lenient.
A maximum of twelve people could enter the dungeon, and the Rank could fluctuate by 5 Ranks, meaning anyone between Rank 28 and Rank 38 could enter the dungeon.
Xia Qi, at exactly Rank 28, met the entry threshold.
Most of the Professionals at the dungeon entrance were around second-tier Rank 35.
The lowest were also second-tier Rank 30. As for Professionals below Rank 30, currently, Xia Qi was the only one.
As for those above Rank 35, there were none here. Those people could choose better dungeons and generally wouldn't come to Dragonkin Camp unless there were special circumstances.
This situation was also normal. The battlefield was inherently a place with an extremely high mortality rate.
Many people would naturally choose the optimal path to become stronger.
