237: Mysterious Altar

Originally, Xia Qi thought that beneath the Sand, there was the floor of this grand hall.

However, the movement under his feet forced him to immediately become vigilant.

The Sand throughout the grand hall began to squirm, like boiling water.

Xia Qi unleashed a Sword Qi, striking the Sand not far away.

The Sword Qi plunged into the Sand, causing it to fly everywhere.

Within that Sand, Xia Qi discovered countless thumb-sized, chopstick-long insects.

These insects were hidden beneath the Sand, and their numbers were immense.

Just from the single Sword Qi Xia Qi struck, there were hundreds of them.

Xia Qi immediately released a fierce Fire, engulfing all the Sand in the grand hall in a Fire Sea.

Under the scorching heat of the fierce Fire, those insects became even more active.

Originally, they were only moving beneath the Sand, but now they had crawled out from under the Sand.

And from the two sets of statues not far away, groups of moths with twisted patterns flew out.

The wings of these moths were covered in various strange patterns, like ancient runes, shimmering with a faint glow.

They circled in the air, forming a stark contrast with the insects that crawled out of the Sand.

And the insects on the ground were all wriggling towards Xia Qi.

Although their bodies were small, their speed was very fast.

More and more insects crawled out, surrounding Xia Qi.

Xia Qi immediately used a Wind Blade, instantly killing the insects closest to him.

Then he quickly condensed Sword Qi, preparing to deal with their upcoming attacks.

Just then, the massive statue in the center of the grand hall suddenly emitted a deafening roar.

As the sound rang out, the entire grand hall began to shake violently.

Xia Qi quickly stabilized himself, his gaze fixed on the two statues.

He saw the eyes of the statues suddenly light up with a faint blue light, like two brilliant stars.

Immediately after, the statue's mouth slowly opened, spitting out beams of brilliant light.

These lights condensed into powerful energy attacks in the air, heading straight for Xia Qi.

Xia Qi did not dare to be careless; he quickly swung his long sword, and countless sword shadows flew from Xia Qi's hand, engaging in a fierce confrontation with those energy attacks.

Sword Qi and energy attacks collided in the air, producing a deafening roar.

However, Xia Qi soon discovered that these energy attacks seemed endless.

After a while of stalemate with Xia Qi, there was no sign of weakening at all.

And all around, there were still those insects and moths eyeing him covetously.

The moths had not made any moves, only watching from the side.

But their constant hovering in the air gave Xia Qi a sense of danger.

Just as Xia Qi was engaged in a bitter struggle, he suddenly noticed that those moths and insects were not attacking him, but flying towards a certain corner of the grand hall.

A doubt arose in Xia Qi's mind, and he immediately chased in the direction those creatures flew.

He avoided the attacks of that statue, circling to its base.

At the base, they seemed to have lost their target and returned to their original state.

When Xia Qi pursued, some of the moths flew back.

They formed a ghostly face in the air, then flapped their wings.

Instantly, countless powders surged towards Xia Qi.

Almost at the same time, those moths moved quickly, trying to surround Xia Qi.

Xia Qi immediately unleashed a flame, burning those powders to ashes.

Afterwards, a strong wind arose, and those ashes and gases produced by the burning were immediately blown away.

Demon Slayer!

Seizing the opportunity, Xia Qi aimed a fierce slash at those moths.

He instantly cleared out those moths, turning them into a pile of debris that drifted away with the wind.

He immediately went to pursue those insects and moths; their disappearance from his sight was not a good thing.

As Xia Qi chased, he suddenly found that the insects and moths ahead were gone.

Only a stretch of Sand remained, and there was no sign of insects beneath it.

After some searching, he finally found an ancient altar hidden in a corner.

The reason Xia Qi was able to discover it was because this altar was constantly devouring the Sand.

Xia Qi approached the altar and found that it seemed to be made of a peculiar black stone, its surface covered with complex runes and patterns.

These runes seemed to contain some profound power, giving Xia Qi an inexplicable sense of oppression.

There was nothing else around, even when Xia Qi used fierce Fire to burn the Sand, there was no further movement.

Xia Qi glanced at the two statues behind him; they had not followed him.

However, at this moment, they were facing Xia Qi's position.

Just now, they were facing the other side.

Two hollow eyes seemed to be staring intently at Xia Qi.

This scene made Xia Qi feel a little creepy.

He became vigilant; this place was not as calm as it seemed on the surface.

Just then, the disappeared insects and moths actually surged out from the altar, appearing even more active and ferocious, constantly flying around the altar.

Xia Qi immediately took action, unleashing a cold Sword Qi, freezing the Sand.

Numerous insects were frozen into a single block of ice, and the moths in the air instantly froze as well.

At the same time, Xia Qi felt a chill down his spine.

He immediately swung a sword behind him, which collided perfectly with the energy released by the two statues.

The two forces exploded in the air, even blasting a pit in the Sand.

He raised the long sword in his hand, preparing to launch an attack.

However, just then, the two statues suddenly emitted an even more violent roar, as if something terrible was about to happen in the next second.

Xia Qi ignored their strange behavior; he took a deep breath and swung a full-force sword at the altar.

Boom!

With a loud bang, a dazzling light erupted from the altar.

Xia Qi only felt a powerful force surge from the altar, instantly sending him flying.

He fell to the ground, a pang of pain coming from his chest.

However, he ignored the pain and immediately looked up at the altar.

He saw that the altar was already shattered beyond recognition, and the runes and patterns had become blurred.

And those insects and moths also seemed to have lost control, like a runaway carriage, beginning to fly wildly throughout the grand hall.

At the same time, a powerful aura spread from the depths of the altar.

However, this aura was completely different from the previous monsters.

Xia Qi's heart filled with joy; he knew he had successfully destroyed the altar.

And these disorderly monsters posed no threat to him.

Now he just needed to eliminate these out-of-control creatures to safely leave this dangerous place.

He tightened his grip on his sword, preparing to launch another attack.

However, just then, the two statues suddenly unleashed even more powerful energy attacks, heading straight for him.

Xia Qi was startled; he hadn't expected these two statues to still possess such immense power.
