Chapter 78 Breakthrough in Cultivation, Peeking into the Wheel of Fate!

Inside the imperial palace, whether it was the Imperial Kitchen, the Bureau of Music, or the Pear Garden, everyone was working overtime.

Because tomorrow was the day the Mid-Autumn Feast would officially begin.

"My Lord, how many people are coming for the banquet tomorrow?"

"I do not know either. In any case, Your Majesty has invited high-ranking court officials, as well as Daoist and Buddhist Schools, and even foreigners. For this banquet, follow the highest specifications!"

"It is said that this banquet was a last-minute decision by Your Majesty, specifically for that young Immortal Master from the Maoshan Sect?"

"How close the relationship between the Maoshan Sect and the imperial family is! Immortal Master Li Hanguang was even a relative of the imperial family before becoming a monk!"

"Hey, which foreign guests are coming this time?"

"It is said there are high monks from Tianzhu in the West, as well as envoys from the Wa Kingdom. I do not know if it is true or false."

"Enough! If you don't want to lose your heads, talk less!" At this moment, the man addressed as 'My Lord' spoke up to stop them, suppressing the previous discussion.

In the evening, Jiang Chen stood in the courtyard, looking up at the bright moon.

He saw the bright moon in the sky, clear and flawless, round like a jade plate.

Wisps of Lunar Essence drifted down from the moonlight, more pure and transparent than before.

Just like the strand of purple Qi in the rising sun's essence, tonight's moonlight also contained specks of Lunar essence.

Jiang Chen sat cross-legged in the courtyard, absorbing the Lunar Essence like a great demon.

Compared to the overbearing nature of the sun's essence, which one could not absorb too much of, the Lunar Essence was not so fierce, though one still had to pay attention to the balance of Yin and Yang and not absorb too much.

Many Cultivators mistakenly believe that only demons absorb Lunar Essence; in fact, this is a fallacy, a cognitive error.

The better the Cultivation Technique, the more it accepts all comers, capable of absorbing any kind of energy.

Most practitioners, however, can only absorb Heaven And Earth Spiritual Essence from the world.

If one's cultivation is insufficient, absorbing even a little of the sun's essence would likely result in death by solar fire burning the body. This is the gap between Cultivation Techniques.

Inside Chongren Ward, in a tall zither pavilion located in the center.

Even though the sky had darkened, wisps of zither music still echoed throughout Chongren Ward.

In the attic at the very top of the zither pavilion, Su Baiwei leaned against the window, gazing at the moon in the sky.

Such a scene could only be seen once or twice a year.

"Hmm?" Suddenly, her brows furrowed slightly, and she looked toward the east.

"Interesting. That is where that little Daoist lives, right?"

Ripples flowed in her eyes, her pupils exceptionally beautiful.

As a being who cultivated the phases of the moon, her sensitivity to the fluctuations of Lunar Essence and Heaven And Earth Spiritual Essence was much sharper than that of ordinary Cultivators.

In her gaze, a huge funnel seemed to have formed above the area where Jiang Chen was located.

Lunar Essence and Heaven And Earth Spiritual Essence were pouring in as if they were free.

There were one or two other places in the capital with such activity, but Su Baiwei knew what kind of figures were responsible for the phenomena in those places.

At this moment, Jiang Chen's cultivation phenomenon appeared exceptionally prominent among all of them.

"No wonder he could be taken as a Disciple by Grand Master Sima Chengzhen. Indeed... Hmm?"

She suddenly paused, then withdrew her gaze and looked back at the moon in the sky.

"It seems I still underestimated this little Daoist..."

A meaningful smile appeared on Su Baiwei's charming face.

The balance of Yin and Yang is the supreme principle of Heaven and Earth, and the same is true for cultivation.

In the past, although Jiang Chen also absorbed Lunar Essence, even after absorbing it for a whole night, it was far inferior to that strand of purple Qi at sunrise.

This created a situation where Yang was strong and Yin was weak. Although it did not affect Jiang Chen's cultivation for the time being, in the long run, it would certainly be detrimental to his cultivation.

However, in just one night today, he had made up for the previous Yin deficiency.

The result of the balance of Yin and Yang was that his cultivation improved significantly, from the third layer of the Xuanguang Realm to the seventh layer, stepping into the Late Stage of the Xuanguang Realm in one fell swoop.

That point of spiritual light and intent had now grown significantly stronger.

Time is truly a wonderful thing. From being a newcomer, stepping into the Daoist School, and knowing nothing, to now—he had already achieved the Late Stage of the Xuanguang Realm.

Moving further up, he had reached the same Realm as his Fourth Senior Sister.

With his current cultivation, he was no longer a person of no consequence in the Daoist sect.

If he displayed his full strength and faced that old monk Master Chengjue again, even without using the Maoshan Dharma Sword, he would likely be able to firmly suppress that old monk.

However, just a moment ago, he didn't know if it was an illusion.

When Jiang Chen was balancing Yin and Yang and making a Breakthrough, his intent interacted with Heaven and Earth, and he vaguely perceived a prying gaze.

This gaze was very secretive. If it hadn't been for the moment of his Breakthrough, when his own spiritual perception was amplified, he probably wouldn't have noticed it.

Moreover, Jiang Chen had just captured a trace of the owner of this gaze, feeling that it was somewhat familiar, as if he had seen it somewhere before.

The faces of Vajra Tripitaka and Master Chengjue flashed through his mind. In Chang'an, among the people he knew, these two were likely the only ones with such cultivation.

But it did not match this aura. He tried to think further, but he could not recall anyone else.

"That person seemed to be using the moonlight to spy on me. Could it be her?"

Jiang Chen did not pay too much attention to it; he did not perceive any malice from this gaze.

At this moment, he was already immersed in the fruits of his cultivation.

Just now, during that moment of interaction with Heaven and Earth, in addition to a great Breakthrough in his spiritual perception, he had also gained other significant rewards.

He had just vaguely seen his own Life Wheel.

What is the Life Wheel? The Bitter Sea is boundless, the Life Wheel acts as the boat, and the Mystic Light acts as the lamp.

The Life Wheel is equivalent to a small boat carrying a person drifting on the Bitter Sea; it is the foundation of a Cultivator.

If the Mystic Light is extinguished, one just loses direction in the Bitter Sea. If a Cultivator has enough time, they can always find the shore of the Bitter Sea.

Of course, this time would likely be counted in thousands of years, and a Cultivator of the Bitter Sea Realm does not have such a long lifespan; the final outcome would only be turning into dry bones.

But if the Life Wheel is damaged, it is equivalent to becoming rootless duckweed, destined to sink in the Bitter Sea, doomed forever, with no chance left.

The Mystic Light is located in the Divine Soul, while the Life Wheel is suspended in the middle palace. The outlines on it are the Karma and origin of a person.

A person's Life Wheel can only be observed when in the Bitter Sea Realm, and then one can carve their own unique Dao and principles onto the Life Wheel.

If the Dao and principles are recognized by the Bitter Sea, one can walk out onto a broad path, step onto the Bridge of Heaven, and escape the Bitter Sea.

From then on, one's lifespan will increase greatly, and one can no longer be regarded simply as a "human."

Jiang Chen seeing the Life Wheel two Realms ahead of time was of no small benefit.

But the Life Wheel that Jiang Chen saw was slightly strange.

The Life Wheel is the manifestation of one's own Dao, ever-changing, and everyone's Life Wheel may look different.

But the Life Wheel that Jiang Chen saw was a "human"!

This "human" was covered in red-gold light, its face had no features, and strange Inscriptions were constantly flowing over its body.

He only looked at it for a glance before feeling dizzy and his consciousness becoming chaotic.

That would be one thing.

But the problem was, Jiang Chen had read many books since he started Cultivating the Dao, and he had never heard of anyone whose Life Wheel was in the shape of a human!
