15: Chapter 15 Fiery Tiger: What a Black Dog!
Inside the classroom of Beast Taming Class 1.
"You have completed the class assignments, the selection of the class monitor, and the beast taming assessment. Now, let's begin our lesson."
Wang Chunfa stood on the podium, with a PowerPoint presentation illuminated on the screen behind him.
"Today is the first lesson. We will talk about our Chang City, as well as the strength of the spirit beasts in the nearby wilderness, and so on."
As he finished speaking, the PowerPoint flipped to the next page, and Wang Chunfa continued, "Most of the spirit beasts outside Chang City are between level one and level forty, so all of you better stay honestly inside the school for now."
"If you want to try fighting spirit beasts, work hard on learning cold weapons. The school will give you the opportunity to try and prove yourselves."
What he was referring to was self-evident: it was that mountain from just before.
"I'm not letting you go now because I don't want you to go die. However, I will explain clearly which spirit beasts are common around Chang City, what they can do, and what you need to watch out for. You will find this useful in the future."
Next, they entered the familiar lecture segment.
At the beginning, Qin Ding listened with some interest, but as the lecture went on, he became increasingly listless. Why?
Because after the initial explanation of the habits, attack patterns, and whether certain types of spirit beasts lived in groups, that was it. It then turned into a discussion about potential spiritual items that might exist near Chang City, what they looked like, what their effects were, and so on.
Qin Ding wasn't very interested in these because the Life Records in his mind weren't just effective on spirit beasts; they were equally effective on spiritual items. He had discovered this once when he passed by a spiritual herb shop.
So, unable to listen any longer, Qin Ding began to practice his Mental Energy just as he had before, while Bai Muxue studied attentively from beginning to end.
Qin Ding's actions left the other students who weren't in Class 1 bewildered.
Seriously, man? The teacher is teaching brand-new content that concerns our future, and you're just sitting there practicing?
Wang Chunfa, however, was already somewhat indifferent to it.
The Beast Taming Class began to get on the right track, but in that beast taming garden, something different was happening.
The Brocade Fighting Chicken, which was focused on pecking at the flesh of the Ball Squirrel with its beak, suddenly sensed that 'the sky had gone dark'.
"Cluck?"
"Woof!"
[What are you eating!]
The dog's paw slapped the head of the Brocade Fighting Chicken with lightning speed, directly knocking it over. This scene attracted the attention of the other tamed beasts.
But they were all scared off by Big Black's fierce dog eyes, especially those spirit beasts that had never killed anything themselves or awakened their ferocity; they just took one look and withdrew their gazes.
The white fox, which had been lying on the ground bored, saw Big Black's actions, and a light of curiosity flashed in its eyes.
This big Black Dog... does it want to steal food? But doesn't it have a huge trophy? Could it be that such a big wolf isn't enough for it to eat? That can't be, right?
The white fox didn't quite understand, but it was very curious.
"Cluck!"
The knocked-over Brocade Fighting Chicken was unconvinced. After standing back up, it angrily flapped its wings to fight back. Seeing this, Big Black slapped it again, but this slap had much more force than the previous one, sending the Brocade Fighting Chicken flying.
A few of its feathers fell off, and this strike triggered the ferocity of the Brocade Fighting Chicken. The Fire-Treading Tiger, seemingly sensing something, immediately turned its attention over, its massive tiger eyes revealing a hint of anticipation and amusement.
When it was arranged by Instructor Liu Jun to 'babysit' here, it wasn't very willing, but now, it was quite willing.
There is a saying that goes well: at the village entrance, watching dogs fight.
Big Black glanced at the Brocade Fighting Chicken with disdain. A little chicken, and it dared to be so arrogant?
"Woof!"
[What are you looking at! You can't beat me. If you have the guts, have your master fight my big brother again. Believe it or not, my big brother will beat your master until he vomits blood all over the floor!]
Once these words were out, the Brocade Fighting Chicken, which had originally wanted to have a go, immediately lost its fire. It had seen the battle between its own master and Qin Ding with its own eyes, so naturally, it didn't dare to accept the challenge.
"Cluck!"
"Woof."
[You're such a big beast, and since you can't beat me, you're going to tell your beast master about me stealing your food? Truly shameful for a beast.]
In an instant, the Fire-Treading Tiger, which was watching the show, was amused. Its tiger mouth pulled into a human-like smile, its tail flicking idly, staring fixedly at this side.
In the eyes of the Fire-Treading Tiger, stealing food was perfectly normal. If it were in the wilderness, stealing things happened all the time—spiritual items, female beasts, territory, etc. Stealing food was actually the most insignificant one.
Seeing the Brocade Fighting Chicken staring at the remaining half of the Ball Squirrel, looking dispirited and not daring to step forward, Big Black let out a haughty whimper. Carrying the remaining half of the Ball Squirrel in its mouth, it walked in front of the Pink Pig, ignoring the Brocade Fighting Chicken's reluctant gaze.
"Grunt?"
The Pink Pig, which had already gobbled down a whole Ball Squirrel, fur and all, was just about to sleep when it was startled awake by the smell of blood.
Hmm? There's more food!
"Woof!"
[Fat pig, I see your master is quite obedient. This remaining half is a reward for you.]
"Grunt!"
Seeming somewhat incredulous, the Pink Pig lying on the ground immediately stood up, and drool began to secrete at the same time. As for Big Black's address, "fat pig"?
The Pink Pig didn't care, because its beast master, Wan Kang, called it that.
Looking at the Pink Pig's expression of incredulous and cautious inquiry, Big Black raised its paw and patted the half of the Ball Squirrel under its feet.
"Woof."
[I, Big Black, keep my word. You seem honest. How about this: be my mount in the future, and there will be plenty of meat for you to eat.]
"Grunt, grrr!"
Fire-Treading Tiger: ...?
What does this mean? Is this the human equivalent of "borrowing flowers to present Buddha"? But if it is, shouldn't it be giving a female beast?
How strange... but one thing is certain, it counts as... school bullying among humans, right? However, from what this Black Dog said, it was the chicken's master who offended the Black Dog's master first.
This Black Dog is quite vengeful. I've never heard of such a vengeful Black Dog; I've only seen plenty of honest and cowardly ones.
After reaching an agreement and getting the go-ahead, the Pink Pig immediately opened its mouth wide, ate the remaining half of the Ball Squirrel directly, and swallowed it in just a few bites.
Big Black: ???
After a brief silence, Big Black saw the Pink Pig lie down and signal for it to ride on top, to which Big Black expressed refusal.
"Woof."
[Go to sleep, I don't need you right now.]
The Pink Pig, not quite understanding, nodded and lay back down. It was already quite satisfied, and now it was even more satisfied.
Big Black, on the other hand, turned and walked toward the white fox with its head held high and chest puffed out.
White Fox: Hmm? Why is it coming towards me? It's not going to steal my food, is it?
Fire-Treading Tiger: Is there more of a show?
