35: Chapter 35 The Warning Pheromones of the Golden Wolf
Dahei, who had eaten half, immediately clamped the remaining piece in his jaws, trotted over to Qin Ding, dropped the snake meat, and looked up at him, tail wagging as if expecting praise.
"Very good. Leave the snake head; it can serve as the first income for the Class Competition."
The Class Competition was all about who could sever the most heads of Spirit Beasts, and now, they had their first.
"We don't have a pot, so let's roast it. I brought a lighter."
The sharp-eyed Wan Kang immediately fished several lighters out of his pocket with a smile on his face. "Perfect."
Meanwhile, Qin Ding used his long spear to nudge the snake head aside.
"Two meters long and as thick as an arm; there's plenty to eat."
Wan Kang muttered to himself with a smile, but his hands moved quickly, using the lighter to start a fire. At that moment, the blade of Qin Ding's long spear transformed into a kitchen knife.
After the meal, the remaining Forest Snake meat had all gone into Dahei's stomach. Qin Ding had assumed this meal would have filled Dahei up, but when he looked over...
Dahei was actually still staring at him with eager eyes!
Qin Ding's temple twitched involuntarily. He was all too familiar with this look; it meant he still wasn't full.
The White Fox, having a smaller appetite, leaned forward and looked curiously at Dahei.
"Ying?" [You're still not full? Do you want to eat some fruit like that Pink Pig?]
Pigs are omnivorous Spirit Beasts. For the Pink Pig, there wasn't much difference between eating meat or fruit, as long as the quantity was enough to fill it up. The fruit the Pink Pig ate had been picked by Wan Kang from the fruit trees while they were roasting the meat; he had gone back and forth three times to get them.
"Woo..." [I want to eat meat...]
It wanted to eat meat?
The White Fox blinked, and then, alongside Dahei, turned to look at Qin Ding. This left Qin Ding, who had just pulled out a bag, speechless.
"Let's try. We'll follow the scent to find them. If we find them, we might be able to have another meal."
Everyone present understood what he meant by "them." Wan Kang's hand, which was holding a mace, trembled slightly, but he didn't say anything.
Seeing Qin Ding place several pens in front of him, Dahei immediately perked up. He had been craving that Brocade Fighting Chicken for quite some time now.
"Awoo." [Boss, don't worry, I can definitely find them.]
Dahei lowered his head and twitched his nose at the pens, then began to catch the scent carried on the wind.
A minute or two passed. Under the watchful eyes of Qin Ding and Bai Muxue, Dahei suddenly looked up in a specific direction.
Qin Ding and Bai Muxue exchanged a glance, said nothing, grabbed their long spears, and signaled for Dahei to lead the way. Wan Kang didn't hesitate either; he grabbed his mace and climbed onto the back of the Pink Pig, which had just finished eating and was preparing to sleep.
"Don't sleep yet. We're following them now; you can have another meal later."
It could eat again?
In an instant, the Pink Pig, which had been drowsy and ready to lie down, perked up and let out a series of grunts.
Qin Ding glanced at Dahei's size, which was comparable to a door panel, and suddenly grabbed Bai Muxue's hand.
Hm?
Bai Muxue turned her head to look at Qin Ding in confusion, but instead of an answer, she found herself being led to Dahei's side.
"Dahei is big enough to carry people now. Your stamina isn't great, so ride on Dahei and let him carry you."
"I get plenty of feedback from the Earth Dog. As long as the Earth Dog paces himself, I can keep up."
As he said this, Qin Ding waved his hand in front of his chest and made a V-sign.
Upon seeing the gesture, Bai Muxue's pupils shrank as she instantly understood what he meant. She subconsciously glanced at Dahei's size. Under Wan Kang's curious gaze, she didn't refuse; instead, her cheeks flushed slightly, and she nodded obediently.
"Okay."
Dahei blinked, looking at his boss and then at Bai Muxue. His dark, bright eyes were filled with a human-like, perceptive understanding of the situation.
Oh... isn't this just a male showing favor to a female before mating and reproducing?
I know how to do that too.
Thinking of this, Dahei felt a little proud, but then he thought of the White Fox's size and immediately lowered his head, his dark wolf eyes filled with a hint of distress.
Will she grow any bigger?
As for Bai Muxue, who was already sitting on his back holding the White Fox? Dahei felt nothing at all.
Having evolved once with the Stubborn Stone Body and Metal Element, he possessed immense strength now.
The White Fox gently patted the back of Dahei's neck.
"Ying." [I'm ready.]
After taking a quick look, Qin Ding took Bai Muxue's long spear into his hand and turned to look at Wan Kang.
Understanding what Qin Ding meant, Wan Kang nodded firmly.
"Don't worry. Although my pig eats a lot, it's not afraid of running in mountain terrain, and its load-bearing capacity is quite good."
"Good. Earth Dog, lead the way."
As soon as he said this, Dahei bolted ahead. Fearing that Qin Ding and the pig behind him wouldn't be able to keep up, Dahei only used thirty percent of his strength.
Qin Ding, carrying two long spears in his right hand, immediately followed, keeping pace steadily at Dahei's side, neither pulling ahead nor falling behind.
Bai Muxue turned her head, her gaze fixed on Qin Ding's profile.
Tier 2 Mental Power and the Life and Death Contract allowed him to receive a twenty percent feedback boost to his overall physical attributes from his Beast, which also included Dahei's endurance and reaction speed.
However, in the eyes of the confused Wan Kang following behind, this scene was shocking; his eyes nearly popped out, his mouth hung open in astonishment, and he unconsciously muttered to himself.
"Is he even human???"
Feeling as if this were surreal, Wan Kang looked around again. Upon confirming that the surrounding environment was blurring past like a slideshow, the shock in his heart intensified.
Meanwhile.
Under a fruit tree, Li Dong and the Zhou brothers were slaughtering three Ball Squirrels. As for their Spirit Beasts, there was no need for such trouble; after all, Spirit Beasts weren't picky about whether their food was raw or cooked—they could eat anything.
"It's afternoon. By dusk, we can go find Qin Ding and the others. Oh, right, Li Dong, do you have the items?"
Zhou Chang, who had been talking to himself, seemed to recall something. He turned to look at Li Dong and reached out his hand.
Upon hearing this, and under the gaze of the brothers Zhou Chang and Zhou Shen, he pulled two small glass vials from his pocket. Instantly, the two of them stared at Li Dong as if they had seen a ghost.
This couldn't be urine from Qin Ding's urinal, could it?
Seeing this, Li Dong gritted his teeth tightly and hissed a few words through them.
"What are you thinking?"
"This is what was left over when Qin Ding and Bai Muxue drank mineral water; I collected it. If that's not enough, I also have the pens they used."
As he said this, Li Dong pulled several pens and a handkerchief from his pocket.
The thoughts of Qin Ding and the Zhou brothers coincided at that moment.
The moment they saw the handkerchief, the Zhou brothers' expressions became extremely meaningful, but they didn't say anything.
Zhou Chang turned to look at his Green Wolf, which was eating. "Go. Go over and see if you can pick up their scent. With so many different items, surely one of them will work, right?"
The Green Wolf subconsciously stopped eating, hesitated for two seconds, and then got up and walked toward Li Dong to sniff the items.
From the water at the beginning, to the pens, and finally the handkerchief, the Green Wolf began to track the scent carried on the wind.
Under the curious and expectant gazes of the three, the Green Wolf's expression suddenly froze.
The owners of these scents were approaching rapidly, and there was an 11th-level, Metal Element wolf frantically emitting alarm pheromones!
