149: Chapter 149 Investment Plan Adjustment (Part 2)

Three months. He couldn't wait that long. Stocks don't wait for anyone, and the funding windows for unicorns don't wait either.

He thought for a moment and sent a message to Li Jiayi: "Still busy?"

A few minutes later, she replied: "Organizing some documents, what's up?"

"Come over here, I have something to discuss."

"Now?"

"Yes."

Twenty minutes later, Li Jiayi pushed the door open and walked in. She was holding a cup of coffee, her hair tied loosely behind her head, and wearing a loose hoodie, looking as if she hadn't stepped out all day.

"Did something happen?" She sat down on the sofa.

"Nothing happened." Li Xin turned the laptop around, the screen displaying his spreadsheet. "Take a look at this."

Of course, for the market capitalization estimates for 2026, he had modified them into rough projections. This made them appear more realistic.

She took the laptop and scanned it from top to bottom.

Less than half a minute later, her brows furrowed. The further down she read, the tighter they knit. When she flipped to the second sheet, she paused, glanced up at Li Xin, and then lowered her head to continue reading.

After finishing, she placed the laptop on the coffee table and took a sip of her coffee.

"Are you serious?"

"I am."

"How did you calculate these projections?"

Li Xin looked at her without answering the question. It was impossible to say he had transmigrated back in time; no one would believe it. Even if they did, explaining the aftermath would be even more troublesome.

"I have my own channels; just assume I analyzed it myself," he said, his expression indifferent.

"To summarize, these companies will have fierce growth momentum in the coming years. Once the family office is properly set up, our next priority will be to acquire equity in these companies."

Li Jiayi stared at him for a few seconds without pressing further. She had been with Li Xin for so long that she knew he had secrets. But she also knew not to ask about things she shouldn't.

"Even if your predictions are correct," she picked up the laptop and looked at the sheet again, "acquiring equity is not that easy; there are many obstacles."

"You want to invest in 20% of these companies? Let alone anything else, look at ByteDance's current valuation. Even if we throw 15 billion USD to get 20% equity, the other party might not be willing to let go."

"I know," Li Xin said. "Not every company will allow us to acquire 20%. Some we can get, some we can't. But regardless of how much we get, we should get as much as we can."

"Then how can you ensure these companies will rise?" Li Jiayi asked with some confusion.

"I cannot guarantee that these companies will definitely rise in the future." Li Xin's expression was calm. "But I believe in my judgment."

Li Jiayi was silent for a while.

"Your investment amount is over 320 billion. We currently have over 440 billion in cash, plus that batch of gold and cultural artifacts; the funds are sufficient."

"The biggest problem right now is that time is tight. The family office structure has only just begun to be built, the trusts haven't been finalized, private banks are still registering, and not a single Cayman SPV has been set up. What are you going to use to invest?"

"It's fine, we can invest a portion first," Li Xin said. "Doesn't Xinyuan Capital have some offshore accounts? Let's use those to invest. We can transfer them once the structure is fully built."

"What about taxes? Compliance? CRS reporting?"

"I'll figure those out; you just focus on building the positions for now."

Li Jiayi was silent again for a while. She was weighing the pros and cons. What Li Xin said wasn't unreasonable; opportunities don't wait for anyone. However, for such a large-scale investment, without a perfect legal structure as a safety net, it would be very troublesome later on.

"In batches," she said. "We'll invest a portion first, and then invest the rest once the structure is built. This way, we won't miss the window, and the risk will be controllable."

Li Xin thought for a moment. "How much for the first batch?"

"50 billion. Is that enough?"

"It's a bit short, but it should be enough." He quickly did the math in his head. "Let's build positions in NVIDIA, Tesla, and OpenAI first—those are the most urgent. We'll discuss the others once the structure is built."

Li Jiayi jotted down a few notes in her notebook. "Alright. I'll start contacting brokers and counterparties tomorrow. NVIDIA and Tesla stocks are easy to handle; we can buy them directly on the secondary market. OpenAI is private equity, so we'll have to talk to existing shareholders."

"Can you find them?"

"Yes, the company is currently involved in internal lawsuits, so there's a great chance of acquiring shares, though the price might be higher than you expect."

"If it's expensive, so be it," Li Xin said. "As long as we can get in."

The two talked for another hour, finalizing the targets, amounts, and priorities for the first batch of investments. By the time Li Jiayi left, it was nearly midnight. She stood at the doorway carrying her laptop bag and glanced back at Li Xin.

"With this investment plan, you're looking to build an empire."

Li Xin shook his head. "It's an empire, but also a legacy."

The next morning, Li Jiayi sent a message saying she had contacted an early investor in OpenAI who was willing to transfer a portion of their shares. The price was 15% higher than Li Xin's estimated valuation, and she asked if he wanted it.

Li Xin replied with one word: "Take it."

He added another sentence: "Regardless of the premium, get as much as you can."

Li Jiayi replied with a "Good."

Over the next few days, Li Xin didn't go out. He sat in his study every day, staring at the investment progress reports in his email. Li Jiayi's team was working intensely; primary market equity negotiations, secondary market stock position building, and the registration processes for various private banks were all proceeding simultaneously.

The position in NVIDIA was built the fastest, with 5 billion USD bought in three days. Tesla was slower because of the high stock price volatility; they used algorithmic trading, breaking it down into small orders every day to slowly accumulate, keeping the average price within a reasonable range.

The OpenAI negotiation was the most tedious. The early investor's asking price was very high, and they were only willing to transfer 5% of the shares, not 20%. Li Jiayi had negotiated two rounds without success; the other party wouldn't budge on the price or the share amount.

Li Xin thought for a moment and sent her a message: "We'll take the 5% too. Don't cut the price; go with what they quoted."

Li Jiayi replied with an ellipsis, then sent another: "Are you sure?"

"Sure. Let's get in first, and we can add more later if there's a chance."

"Alright. Then I'll sign the contract today."

After more than a week of busyness, the first phase of investment was basically settled. 8 billion was invested in NVIDIA, 6 billion in Tesla, and 600 million in OpenAI for a 5% stake. The others were still being negotiated, with varying progress.

Li Xin looked at the new holding figures on the system panel and did a quick calculation. He was still far from his target of 320 billion, but there was no use being anxious now. The structure wasn't finished, the money couldn't go out, so he could only take it slow.

He closed the panel, stood up, and walked to the window.

The night in Dubai was as bright as ever. The Burj Khalifa glittered in the distance, and a few yachts drifted slowly on the sea.

He took out his phone and sent a message to Luo Maifa: "I'm heading back to the country in a couple of days. Let's get together."

Luo Maifa replied instantly: "Holy crap, you're finally willing to come back? The guys have missed you to death."

"Things are done, I'm coming back to stay for a while."

"Alright, the usual barbecue place; you pick the time."

"Okay."

He also sent messages to Yang Hong and Qiang Zi about returning to the country. Yang Hong replied "Good," and Qiang Zi called him directly.

"Brother Xin, how long can you stay this time?" Qiang Zi's voice sounded a bit muffled, as if he were outside.

"It depends. Why, something up?"

"Nothing much. It's just that Zhuzi's shop has opened several branches, and he wants to invite you to take a look. He keeps talking about you, saying that without you, he wouldn't be where he is today."

Li Xin smiled. "That's because he's willing to work hard; it has nothing to do with me."

"Let's talk when you get back. We'll be waiting for you."

After hanging up, Li Xin stood by the window and looked at the night view for a while longer.

The AI System popped up in the system panel: [Zhuzi, are you missing your brothers again?]

"I'm homesick. I've been out for over half a year; I'm going back to enjoy myself this time. Li Jiayi is watching over the family office matters, and I'll let her handle the investments too. I'm going back to drink with the guys."

[Oh wow~ deep brotherly love, huh? Your brothers still don't know how much money you have, right?]

"They don't."

[Don't you plan to tell them?]

"No need. If they knew I had so many assets, it would invisibly affect them. When we hang out, they might not be able to let loose."

[You're doing the right thing. Once they know you have hundreds of billions of dollars in assets, they will subconsciously overthink things when hanging out with you.]

[They might be overly cautious when interacting with you, accommodating you in everything. In the long run, even the best friendship will change flavor.]

"Yeah, it's best not to have financial entanglements between brothers. When I had the ability, I gave them a hand, not expecting anything in return. Now that they've made it, it's time for me to step back."

[That's pretty good. If you give voluntarily, don't expect a return; that way, your mindset will remain stable. Zhuzi, you've realized it!]

"..."

Li Xin turned back to his desk, closed the laptop, and tidied up the scattered documents on the table. He had printed out those two investment sheets; he glanced at the dense numbers on the paper, folded them twice, and tucked them into the drawer.

There was no need to bring these things back to the country.

He went upstairs to pack his luggage. Just the old backpack, a few changes of clothes, his passport, and his wallet. Most of his belongings were stored in the system space; the backpack was just a cover.

The next morning, Chen Hu drove him to the airport.

"Boss, how long are you staying this time?" Chen Hu glanced at him through the rearview mirror.

"Not sure. Maybe a few days, maybe a few months. You keep an eye on the family office's progress here; contact me anytime if something comes up."

"Okay. What about the gold? Mr. Hassan has asked several times."

Li Xin thought for a moment. "Give him the silver first. We'll talk about the gold when I get back."

"Understood."

At the airport, Li Xin shouldered his bag and walked into the terminal. Chen Hu stood by the car, watching his back disappear behind the glass doors.

When the plane took off, it was just dawn in Dubai. Sunlight shone in through the porthole, blindingly bright. He pulled down the window shade and leaned back in his seat.

His mind was occupied with thoughts of returning home. He hadn't seen his brothers for half a year and wondered how they had changed. He occasionally looked at reports for Yang Hong's tech company, and the data was good. It was said that Luo Maifa's logistics company was expanding very quickly. Zhuzi's breakfast shop had opened several branches, and Qiang Zi had been helping him keep an eye on things.

They had all built things up themselves; he hadn't really managed much. He had just invested money initially and given them a hand. That was enough.

The plane flew through the clouds, jolting a few times. He closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep.
