40: Chapter 40 The First Batch of Fortune 500 Companies Buying In (Part 2)
After the market closed in the afternoon, Li Xin was in no rush to leave.
He sat on the sofa, watching the white clouds chasing the sun in the sky outside the window.
Sipping his tea slowly, he felt indescribably content, while Li Jiayi was busy organizing the day's trading records, her keyboard clattering away.
"I just carefully studied the stocks we bought today," Li Jiayi said without looking up.
"Apple is a company with very stable profitability. Its mobile phone sales are number one in the world, its profit margins are huge, and it is definitely a cash cow."
"Microsoft's cloud services have been doing quite well over the past two years. Of course, it is currently still the hegemon of the internet, and its prospects are unquestionable."
"Google's advertising revenue growth has slowed down a bit, but it holds the core technology. Needless to say, Amazon is even more impressive; selling things online is just a small part of its business. They are all truly world-class enterprises."
"You're quite fast," Li Xin smiled.
"For someone in finance, looking at these is a basic skill," Li Jiayi looked up. "But honestly, these companies are too big. If you throw 200 million USD into them, you won't even hear a ripple. Are you sure this is the best choice?"
"Then what do you think is good to invest in?"
Li Jiayi thought for a moment: "If it were me, I would take a portion of the money to buy some faster-growing companies. For example, Tesla, Netflix, or NVIDIA. Although these companies are expensive now, they will rise fiercely later on."
Li Xin didn't make a sound, deep in thought for a while.
Li Xin certainly knew about the companies Li Jiayi mentioned. In his past life, the stocks of Tesla, Netflix, and NVIDIA had risen dozens or even hundreds of times. However, he didn't want to touch them right now.
It wasn't that he didn't have a positive outlook, but the time hadn't come yet.
Tesla was still losing money in 2017, and its stock price was jumping up and down. Netflix's competitors were also increasing. As for NVIDIA, the mining business was unstable. It wouldn't be too late to buy these companies after they stabilized.
As for the six companies—Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Tencent, and Alibaba—they were the ballast. No matter how the market fluctuated, they had a solid foundation and wouldn't fall too far.
"You're right," Li Xin didn't deny her. "But that's a matter for the next step. Currently, these few are just the base positions; others can be added later, right?"
Li Jiayi was startled, "200 million USD is just the base position?"
"Otherwise what?" Li Xin looked at her. "This is just the beginning. Do you only want to manage this little amount of assets?"
Li Jiayi's thin lips parted slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but she swallowed it back a moment later.
She lowered her head to look at the holdings in the account, then looked at Li Xin, pondering for a moment, "This man, who is about the same age as me, always speaks in a breezy way, yet every sentence makes it impossible to refute."
"Fine," she closed her laptop. "You're the boss; it's up to you how to do things."
Li Xin stood up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.
The lights in the Science Park were turning on one by one, and traffic was rolling along Shennan Avenue. This city was in its prime, and he happened to be standing on the crest of this wave.
"Li Jiayi," he suddenly spoke.
"Hmm?"
"How much money do you think is enough for a person?"
Li Jiayi thought for a moment: "It depends on how you live. Some people can live very well with a few million. But for those who want to do something, even a few hundred million isn't enough."
"And you? Have you thought about what you want to do?"
Li Jiayi was silent for a few seconds: "I have. But I don't have the money."
"You do now," Li Xin turned around. "Xinyuan Capital is your capital."
Li Jiayi looked at him, something flashing in her eyes.
"Aren't you afraid I'll lose your money?" she asked.
"I am," Li Xin smiled. "But I'm more afraid that you wouldn't dare to pull the trigger."
Li Jiayi lowered her head, the corners of her mouth curling up slightly.
"By the way, what do you want to eat this weekend?" Li Xin walked to the door and asked, turning back.
Li Jiayi was stunned, then smiled: "A big meal, of course. Since the boss is treating, how could I justify myself if I didn't eat something good?"
"Okay."
