471: Why not try a different way of living?

Everyone in the Su Family was stunned; clearly, they hadn't processed it yet.

Su Hao had actually abdicated voluntarily?

How could he bear to give up the position of Family Head just like that?

Su Hao's voice rang out again: "Does anyone have any objections?"

Everyone looked at one another, but no one spoke; mainly because no one could figure out what Su Hao was trying to do.

Seeing that no one was speaking, Su Hao looked toward the Grand Elder.

"Grand Elder, what do you think?"

The Grand Elder was a bit bewildered by the question; to be honest, he definitely wanted to sit in the position of Family Head.

The Su Family's assets were still very vast; as long as he secured the position of Family Head, his own branch would gain infinite benefits.

But the key question was why the Family Head wanted to yield the position at this point in time.

Su Hao had already made up his mind. Seeing that the Grand Elder remained silent, he didn't bother to dwell on it further and placed the Family Head's Identity Token directly on the table.

"Since no one has any objections, then it's settled."

"Grand Elder... no, Family Head, I'll have to trouble you to put more heart into the Su Family from now on."

With that, Su Hao turned and left directly, though his retreating figure seemed somewhat desolate.

Naturally, he wasn't willing to give up the position of Family Head either, but he had no choice. For the sake of his children and the Su Family, abdicating was the optimal choice for him.

Status and position are full of temptation for any man.

Su Hao was also a man, and his mindset was much the same.

Walking out of the hall, Su Hao suddenly felt a sense of relief all over; he suddenly realized that letting go of the Family Head position wasn't actually a wrong choice.

At least there wasn't so much pressure.

Not everything in the Su Family needed his attention anymore.

Being in a higher position inevitably meant having more things to handle.

"Sigh, from now on, I'll just focus on raising my two children well."

His own Aptitude was average—not bad, but not particularly good either. In the future, he would most likely be able to break through to the Profound Immortal Realm, but that would likely be the Peak of his cultivation career.

Afterward, he took Ye Qianqian and the two children and moved directly to the back mountain.

The back mountain was originally the domain of the Su Family's Old Ancestor; without a summons, members of the Su Family could not enter at will.

Su Hao moving directly into the back mountain caused much discussion, with people speculating about what had happened between Su Hao and the Old Ancestor.

The Grand Elder didn't mind much; Su Hao had gone this far and even yielded the position of Family Head to him. Having achieved his goal, there was no need to worry about what Su Hao did anymore.

He didn't frantically suppress Su Hao's lineage either; the positions of others remained unchanged, and Su Hao himself became an Elder of the Su Family.

After all, he was still a high-ranking member of the Su Family with great strength, making him an indispensable part of the Family.

In the blink of an eye, seven years passed.

Su Chen and Su Lan had grown up, and over these years, Su Lan had displayed astonishing talent. At two years old, she reached the Saint Realm; at four, the Emperor Realm; and at six, she broke through to the Immortal Rank, attaining the cultivation of a Human Immortal.

"Little brother, little brother!"

Su Lan's voice drifted from afar. She was skipping along, looking very happy, her chubby cheeks appearing quite adorable.

In an old little courtyard, Su Chen sat by the pond where fish were swimming merrily in the water.

Su Chen turned his head, looking helplessly at his 'Elder sister.' Originally, he was supposed to be the older brother, but Su Lan insisted that since she was born first, she was the Elder sister.

The key was that she was extremely stubborn, so in the end, Su Chen didn't bother to argue with her.

Su Lan ran up to Su Chen, tossed out a Medicinal Pill bottle, and said with her hands on her hips, acting quite proud, "Look at what this is! Your big sis used every means possible to refine this Medicinal Pill for you. It can make up for your Innate deficiencies, allowing you to start cultivating."

Su Chen raised an eyebrow, looking at Su Lan with great surprise.

Something that could compensate for Innate deficiencies was extremely precious, not to mention a Medicinal Pill; it would require someone at least at the Zenith Heaven Golden Immortal level to refine it.

How did this girl manage to get it?

However, this girl had been extremely mysterious since childhood, displaying insights far beyond her Realm. With Su Chen's experience, he could naturally guess a thing or two, but he didn't care to dwell on it and wouldn't actively pry into Su Lan's secrets.

Su Chen shook his head and said, "The main reason I can't Cultivate is my weak Physical Body. Even if the Innate deficiency is fixed now, I still have to wait until I'm around twelve to start cultivating; otherwise, my Meridians won't be able to handle it."

"I just have poor Aptitude; I'm not a waste."

To him, whether his overt cultivation level improved or not didn't really matter; what was important was his comprehension of the power of the Great Dao.

He only needed to slowly improve his Great Dao of Time, and it would provide feedback, naturally strengthening his Physical Body over time.

This had an advantage: he would appear to have no cultivation at all. Because it fell somewhat outside the normal scope of cultivation, he could remain very low-profile.

Just like Su Chen—though he currently had no cultivation, his actual combat strength was at least at the Immortal King level.

This was the boost provided by the Power of Dao Laws.

Su Lan's expression turned stern. "Are you being naughty again? If I tell you to eat it, just eat it. Why all the nonsense?"

Su Chen looked at her and was speechless. Since when did he have to take such a scolding from a little brat?

But he also knew he definitely couldn't win an argument with Su Lan, so he simply took the Medicinal Pill and put it in his mouth.

Su Lan immediately stepped forward, patted Su Chen's head, and said with a smile, "That's a good boy."

"Also, you're just a kid. Why do you stay in this courtyard all day instead of going out to play? People who don't know would think you're much older; you look so old-fashioned and solemn."

Su Chen was a bit speechless. This 'Elder sister' really was a meddler, but he could feel Su Lan's sincerity, so he didn't say much.

He turned and sat on a chair, saying with a look of leisure:

"Forget it, I still prefer to just lie flat at home."

Su Lan gave Su Chen a look as if he were a lost cause, but she didn't bother to say more and turned to leave to resume her own cultivation.

Although Su Lan often stayed in the back mountain, gold will always shine, and her strength eventually became known to many.

Gradually, she earned the nickname of the Su Family's Prodigy.

However, she never revealed her Physique to outsiders, so no one knew she possessed the Chaos Physique. The members of the Su Family assumed that Su Hao had voluntarily stepped down because the Old Ancestor had promised him benefits.

And those benefits were likely the cultivation of his children.

Thinking this way, everything seemed to make sense.

Why Su Hao had moved directly to the back mountain after abdicating that day, and why Su Lan's cultivation progressed so rapidly.

This could only mean that it wasn't necessarily because Su Lan had great talent, but perhaps because the Old Ancestor had showered her with resources.

The current head of the Su Family, the former Grand Elder, was even moved, thinking the Old Ancestor had made such a great sacrifice just to prevent internal strife within the Su Family.

In the back mountain of the Su Family.

Su Chen lay on his chair, and for some reason, he suddenly felt a bit bored.

In his previous life, when he 'lay flat,' it was because his wives were there, chattering around him all day. Now, they were gone.

Suddenly, Su Chen felt a bit sentimental, and a deep sense of nostalgia began to well up in his heart.

Finally, Su Chen gave a faint sigh.

Back when he was at Mount Wangyun, Su Chen wouldn't feel bored even if he sat there for tens of thousands of years.

But now, after staying at home for just a few years, he felt extremely lonely and bored.

Taking a deep breath, Su Chen's expression changed slightly as he raised his hand and looked toward the sky:

"In my previous life, I liked to lie flat. In this life, why not try a different way of living?"
