550: The low-key Su Chen

The two of them had already planned their script: they would first heap praise upon the Haoran Sect, and then, after defeating the Haoran Sect, they would emerge and say with faces full of shock.

"I originally thought the Haoran Sect would win easily, but I didn't expect them to actually lose?"

"The Haoran Sect always used to win; who knew this batch of Disciples would be so mediocre."

And other words to that effect.

They were already simulating it in their minds, even fantasizing about Yun Mo's ugly expression later

—that feeling alone was satisfying to think about.

Yun Mo's expression was somewhat grim. If their Haoran Sect Disciples had been stronger in the past, these words would have been flattery, but now he only felt intense mockery.

Not many people participated in the Three Sect Grand Competition; each Sect only had thirty people.

Furthermore, the Grand Competition was not a simple test of strength; there were other contests, divided into three parts.

The first stage was Ghost Shadow Maze. Participants only needed to exit the Ghost Forest within the stipulated time. Su Chen understood that this Ghost Forest was an Illusion Formation, jointly refined by the three great Sects.

The second stage was the Zhou Tian Secret Realm.

Inside the Secret Realm, there were many Yao Beasts, including Mortal Immortal, Earth Immortal, Heavenly Immortal, and True Immortal Rank Yao Beasts. Different ranks of Yao Beasts yielded different points, and the top thirty ranked individuals would proceed to the final stage.

The final stage was a martial strength competition, continuing until someone achieved first place.

This Three Sect Grand Competition was considered quite rich in events.

Su Chen stood among the Haoran Sect crowd, showing interest. This was the first time he had experienced things from the perspective of a Disciple

—a feeling he had never known before.

It was like being a billionaire who enters a group of ordinary people, watching them chat and laugh while he stands nearby, smiling silently.

Su Chen was also a participant in the Three Sect Grand Competition. In the previous selection assessment, Su Chen barely squeezed into the list of contestants by ranking twenty-eighth.

Furthermore, several other people from Seeking Dao Peak also joined.

Although they were usually low-key, when it concerned the Sect's reputation, Seeking Dao Peak was still willing to step forward.

On the surface, the Three Sect Grand Competition looked like a simple exchange of skills, but in reality, it was a battle for Luck. The winning side would naturally accumulate stronger Luck.

For example, the reason the Haoran Sect could keep winning before was that after they won initially, the outside world naturally rumored that the Haoran Sect was the strongest, and Prodigies were naturally more willing to join the Haoran Sect.

This situation persisted for many years, and the quality of Disciples in the other two Sects slowly declined. Unfortunately, this time, two Geniuses unexpectedly emerged from the two Sects, disrupting everything.

Yun Mo stood up, gave a simple speech, and then said loudly:

"The contestants should stand on the square. I have already explained the rules of the competition, so I will not repeat them here."

Ninety people walked out from the viewing platform and then stood in the center of the square.

Yun Mo looked toward the two Sect Heads beside him. The three of them nodded to each other, then began chanting Incantations. The ninety people on the square only felt the surrounding Void Realm begin to twist, and before they could fully react, they felt dizzy.

A Spatial Formation!

Su Chen raised an eyebrow. He was quite sensitive to space, so he naturally knew what this was.

After a few breaths, their vision returned to normal. They saw that the surrounding trees were pitch black, and the sky was also dark, making the ground extremely hazy, which gave the Ghost Forest a sinister and terrifying feel.

After some people reacted, they immediately ran toward the distance.

But the Ghost Forest seemed endless. No matter how hard he tried, the surrounding scenery remained motionless; he was still walking in place.

The key to the Ghost Forest was finding the core of the illusion; only then could one exit. Walking directly would not allow them to leave.

Above the Ghost Forest, there was a countdown. Contestants needed to exit within five hours, or they would be considered failures. Although this Ghost Forest presented a challenge, the difficulty was not considered high; at least sixty percent of people passed this stage every time.

Su Chen did not act too low-key; instead, he made his Breakthrough when there was just over an hour remaining.

It was written in that book that one should not be too low-key.

Being too low-key would be counterproductive, attracting attention instead, but being moderate was the best way to avoid observation.

But this was indeed true. Li Yaoguang of Seeking Dao Peak was very meticulous; these were practical conclusions he drew after personally testing them, proving very reliable and useful.

In the second stage, hunting Yao Beasts, Su Chen still barely managed to squeeze into the top thirty.

It is worth mentioning, however, that in previous Three Sect Grand Competitions, the Haoran Sect usually had around fifteen people advance, while the other two Sects had seven or eight each. But this time, only six people from the Haoran Sect made it into the top thirty.

Inside the Zhou Tian Secret Realm, besides gaining points by hunting Yao Beasts, one could also steal points from others, requiring both strategy and courage.

This meant that if one side was powerful, the number of contestants from the other Sects would decrease. Since the rules allowed it, robbery was certainly possible, and the stronger side naturally held more advantages.

Huang Bingyan looked at Yun Mo with some surprise: "Sect Head Yun, what is the meaning of this? Are you deliberately going easy in the second stage because our two Sects lost so badly before?"

Sect Master Jinyang also chimed in opportunistically: "It must be so. The Three Sect Grand Competition has always revolved around the Haoran Sect. Sect Master Yun has such great foresight; no wonder the Haoran Sect Disciples are so formidable. We are truly impressed."

The words of the two were very calm, but the mockery was extremely thick. Not just Yun Mo, but even the Elders below had ugly expressions.

Although they had long known these two would cause trouble, being genuinely mocked felt terrible

—their hearts were itching, and they wanted to hit someone.

Some Elders were even about to lose their temper; if they hadn't been held back by the people next to them, they probably would have confronted the two Sect Masters.

However, confronting them now would clearly be even more embarrassing, as they were indeed inferior in skill. Wasn't it the same when Yun Mo went to mock the other two Sects when they lost before?

The two Sect Masters also clenched their jaws, their eyes spitting fire, but they didn't say a single word.

In the beginning, Sect Master Jinyang also lost his temper, finding Yun Mo infuriating. But after he confronted Yun Mo, Yun Mo simply said:

"Sometimes, bravely admitting your shortcomings is beneficial for growth."

How infuriating were those words? Sect Master Jinyang completely exploded at the time.

The tables had turned, and now it was their Haoran Sect suffering. If they dared to lose their temper and confront the others, they would certainly be met with the same words, which would only make them look even more embarrassing.

It was better to remain silent and wait for the Three Sect Grand Competition to end. Once they left, everything would be over...
