211: Mosquito figurines? No, they're Hextech mosquitoes!
The entire process of catching Ant went smoothly!
However, it was a bit more troublesome compared to catching Mosquito.
Because Su Yu had already prepared the tools for catching Mosquito at home, he only needed to find a suitable location in the mountains, then set up the tools and wait quietly.
No other complicated operations were needed.
But catching Ant was different; attracting them with food was one thing, but ultimately, he had to do it himself!
Su Yu prepared a plastic bottle with its outer shell removed, and when the Ant colony began to move out in large numbers to carry the Oreo crumbs, he seized the opportunity and started catching them frantically.
When catching the first few, his movements were still a bit clumsy; one reason was fear of accidentally killing or injuring these little guys, and the other was concern about being bitten!
Don't underestimate them; Ant' mouths also secrete a unique, toxic formic acid!
If one is bitten carelessly, the resulting swelling can be more severe than a bite from a flower Mosquito!
However, as time passed, Su Yu's movements became more and more skilled.
In less than ten minutes, he had successfully caught a whole bottle.
That's enough!
With these guys, Su Yu felt he had enough for his research experiments.
If he continued to catch more, he wouldn't mind, but the audience's patience would probably run out.
After all, his current identity was that of a veritable top-tier artisan Streamer! With hundreds of thousands, even millions, of people watching him engage in such 'unprofessional' activities, no matter how popular he was, over time his popularity would only slowly decline.
So, once he had caught enough for his goal, Su Yu decisively chose to return home.
Although he had now acquired various technical knowledge about biological technology modification, he had never actually tried it.
Developing insect figurine/model kits was not as simple as imagined!
Successfully completing the live dissection was just the beginning; how to restore them after dissection, and how to install the desired hex technology equipment on these little guys before restoration, that was the most difficult part of the entire process.
If it were other larger creatures, the process of modification might be simpler.
After all, a larger size also meant that making replacement equipment wouldn't be so miniature.
No, the size of these two creatures could no longer be described as miniature; they were microscopic!
Su Yu actually felt a bit anxious inside!
The system task gave him a time limit of fifteen days.
But he had, in a moment of enthusiasm, made a public promise in the live broadcast that this entire production would be completed on camera!
Even if the audience knew the difficulty of making this figurine/model kit, it didn't mean they would tolerate too many failures!
One or two failures might be acceptable to everyone.
But if the number of failures was too high, people would naturally begin to question his abilities.
This was beyond doubt!
Therefore, upon returning to his office laboratory, Su Yu did not rush to immediately dissect these biological test subjects, but instead prepared to first start making the mechanical prosthetic parts.
Coincidentally, this was also a segment that the audience enjoyed.
For the modification of the Mosquito figurine/model kit, Su Yu focused mainly on its abdomen and that detestable blood-sucking tube, commonly known as the "proboscis."
Through observation with an electronic optical magnifying glass, Su Yu discovered that a Mosquito's mouth is actually composed of six needle-like structures. Each needle has its unique function.
Two of these proboscis needles have barbs, which they use to anchor themselves to the skin. Another two are like sharp tiny knives, capable of easily cutting through the skin's surface.
The fifth is a "probe" for detecting blood vessels; once it locates a blood vessel, they activate the sixth needle to begin drawing blood.
This complex and unique structure allows the Mosquito to reduce human pain during the blood-sucking process.
This is why it often happens that when bitten and sucked by a Mosquito, people don't feel any abnormality until the Mosquito flies away and a small bump appears on the skin, only then realizing it.
To put it another way.
If this function of the Mosquito could be appropriately modified, it might sometimes have surprising uses!
For example, redness and itching after a Mosquito bite are mainly due to the unique saliva secreted by the Mosquito's blood-sucking tube.
The saliva contains anticoagulants and various allergens.
Therefore, after a human is bitten, it will produce an immune rejection reaction with its own immune system.
But what if there was a way to clear the saliva from the Mosquito's body and reverse-engineer the Mosquito's blood-sucking mechanism? What kind of situation would arise then?
Changing blood-sucking to injection, replacing saliva rich in allergens with glucose, adrenaline, saline, and so on.
Plus the unique talent of the Mosquito family to locate humans in harsh environments!
If the extreme modification truly succeeded, it would absolutely be a surprisingly effective weapon at critical moments!
That's right.
This was Su Yu's original intention in wanting to create the Mosquito figurine/model kit!
Strictly speaking, this had already exceeded the scope of figurine/model kit making; it should belong to biological hex technology modification.
And the first parts that needed to be extremely modified were the Mosquito's "proboscis" and "abdomen."
Taking a deep breath, Su Yu reviewed all the knowledge in his mind, then officially began the production... Ten minutes later.
He successfully produced six mechanical proboscis needles that could perfectly replace the Mosquito's "proboscis"!
Through an optical electronic microscope, Su Yu displayed them to the audience in the live broadcast.
And seeing this scene, some of the audience who had not understood his actions suddenly realized.
"Holy crap, the Brothers from before were right! The Streamer is really going to make a Mosquito figurine/model kit! He even made those blood-sucking needles of the Mosquito!"
"???!!! Can such fine needles really be made?! What is the Streamer trying to do? An extreme modification of a Hex Tech Mosquito?!"
"Hahahaha, what the heck, an extreme modification of a Hex Tech Mosquito! This is too abstract!"
"Am I getting old and can't keep up with the times? What use could this modified Mosquito figurine/model kit possibly have?"
"Alright, let me rephrase the question. Mosquito, this creature is so small! I'm genuinely impressed that the Streamer can perfectly replicate it one-to-one, but who would be bored enough to buy this Hex Tech Mosquito? It's difficult to even see it with the naked eye."
"I don't know. The Streamer has been mysterious from the beginning, making everyone unable to guess. Anyway, I still don't understand what the Streamer ultimately wants to do!"
"You say if he's really making a figurine/model kit, catching one as a specimen would be enough, so why catch so many? Could it be that the Streamer wants to observe the flight movements of various Mosquito in the air and create Mosquito with different forms and shapes?!"
