228: The Real Function of Hextech Mosquitoes

"Xia Cang, don't our rescue teams have any other way to speed up the progress of excavation in the ruins?"

"Or, can we find a way to deliver supplies to the survivors buried underground, so they have enough food and water to keep going?"

The Host asked a crucial question, which was also the most pressing concern for all the viewers.

A hint of hesitation flashed across Xia Cang's face. Based on the information she had gathered from other disaster relief personnel, out of the forty-seven marked locations, only a few might ultimately be rescued.

Even the twenty-two-year-old male university student she had been following at the beginning of the broadcast was now in a state of semi-disconnection.

On the surface, rescue workers had adjusted the call frequency to once every ten minutes, but the Young man's responses became increasingly slow.

Several times, contact had been lost entirely.

If not for the persistent calls from the rescue workers, which eventually roused the Young man from his coma, he might not have been able to hold on.

But this was not a long-term solution.

Being able to wake him once did not guarantee a second time!

Severe dehydration and lack of food made his flickering flame of hope for survival precarious. The endless darkness underground made Chen Wentao feel an unprecedented despair.

Was he really going to die like this?

No! But he didn't want to die!

He still had so many things he wanted to do that were unfinished!!

After an arduous attempt to respond to the ground rescue personnel's signal once more, the weak and powerless Chen Wentao laboriously turned his neck.

He was pinned beneath a large rock in the corner of the wall, unable to move.

While he was fortunate not to have sustained serious injuries, maintaining a fixed posture for three whole days meant he could no longer feel other parts of his body.

Aside from his head, which he could still move, only his two hands could barely twitch.

And it was precisely by using his hands to pick up a small piece of rubble and continuously tap the flattened steel frame to produce faint sounds that he was able to let the rescue personnel on the surface know he was still alive.

He didn't know how much longer he could last!

At this moment, Chen Wentao had only one thought: just hold on a little longer! Hold on for a little while more!!

Perhaps a miracle would happen!

...On the surface.

Rescue efforts were still progressing slowly.

The Deputy Captain of the rescue team was currently sitting in a temporarily erected shelter, silently observing the rescue experts below.

There were over a dozen people sitting inside the shelter.

They were all top experts in disaster relief, drawn from across the country, each possessing extensive practical rescue experience.

But faced with the current predicament, everyone fell silent.

The inability to use large excavation equipment for digging through the ruins alone stalled many rescue plans.

Of course, some had suggested using helicopters to lift various debris from the ruins, but this was quickly rejected.

Helicopter take-off required sufficient airspace, and at most, only two or three helicopters could operate simultaneously above the ruins. Moreover, if helicopters were used, manual removal in other ground areas could not be carried out.

This, in turn, might reduce rescue efficiency.

Just as all the rescue experts were at a loss, suddenly, a voice came from outside the room.

"Deputy Captain! Academician Zhang's recommended rescue expert has arrived!"

As the words fell, a Young man who appeared to be in his early twenties strode in.

Everyone looked up at Su Yu.

However, upon seeing that the newcomer was merely a Young man, they all shook their heads and lowered their gaze once more.

Ultimately, their expectations had been set too high.

Who was Academician Zhang?

He was an Academician of biotechnology research at the Chinese Academy of Sciences!

A person who had received countless medals and made immense contributions to the nation!

But at such a critical moment of life and death, let alone a callow youth, even if Academician Zhang himself came, it probably wouldn't solve any problems.

One must know that the problem they were currently facing was extremely difficult worldwide.

Su Yu looked around, noticing the somber atmosphere in the room, and simply spoke directly.

"Greetings, seniors. I am Su Yu. I have already learned about the specific situation of the survivors underground on my way here."

"Currently, the most urgent issue is to find a way to deliver food and water to these survivors, who haven't eaten for several days, to extend their survival time. Only then will there be a chance to continue the rescue."

Before Su Yu finished speaking, a Middle-aged Man in his forties, wearing a fire rescue suit, snorted coldly and interrupted him.

"We know this without you telling us!"

"And it sounds simple, but do you have any way to deliver food and water to the survivors?"

Su Yu's breath hitched at the words, and he looked towards the man in the fire suit.

Seeing this, the Deputy Captain at the head of the table spoke, attempting to ease the tense atmosphere.

"Mr. Su, you've just arrived, so you might not have a deep enough understanding of the situation here."

"What you said is correct, and what Instructor Liu said is also correct. But our most crucial problem right now is precisely that we have no way to deliver these things to the survivors."

"Then I say, what if I have a way to help them?"

"What? You can?!"

"Young man, don't joke around! A dozen of our top rescue experts here can't come up with a solution, and you're telling me you can?!"

"If you really have a way, I, Liu Yuntao, will be the first to charge to the front lines to help you implement it!"

The Middle-aged Man in the fire rescue suit stared intently at Su Yu, seemingly wanting to see what kind of ability this arrogant Young man, who dared to speak such words, possessed to follow through.

Su Yu did not explain immediately upon hearing this, but slowly turned around and had the person waiting outside the shelter help him carry in two large wooden boxes.

"Inside are the latest Hex Tech Mosquitos I've developed."

"There's a type of Mosquito inside that has been modified to survive in extreme environments. After modification, this Mosquito retains its characteristic of actively seeking out humans, but it does not feed on blood."

"Instead, their biological instinct will prompt them to absorb various nutrient solutions, then find humans, and deliver them in reverse through their proboscis!"

"Instructor Liu just said that we have no way to directly deliver water and food to the survivors. But modified Hex Tech Mosquitos can!"

"They can carry various nutritional supplements, anti-inflammatory drugs, and adrenaline solutions through the ruins, search for survivors underground, and perform painless injection and supplementation! This way, their survival time can be greatly extended!"

Everyone on site was dumbfounded!

After a long pause, Liu Yuntao finally came to his senses.

"But even if such a unique hex technology truly exists, how small is a Mosquito? Even if one Mosquito can pass through the ruins to deliver nutrients to the survivors, it's just a drop in the bucket, a temporary measure."

"You're right, one certainly can't solve the current problem. But what if I have five thousand of them!"

Su Yu's lips curved into a faint smile.
