105: Wu'an Trial Results

When the presiding judge's clear and powerful voice declared their judgment word by word in the courtroom, Xibike and Wu Qiu stood silently in the dock, their faces devoid of any emotional fluctuation, as if all of this was within their expectations.

They silently lowered their heads, as if all their strength had been drained, and calmly accepted these penalties.

Once, they acted recklessly in the vortex of power, but now, they would ultimately pay a heavy price for their actions.

What awaited them was a long century of imprisonment, a period that, for ordinary people, was almost equivalent to a lifetime.

Fortunately, thanks to the important positions they once held, they had already undergone physical enhancement modifications and still had several hundred years of life left.

Otherwise, with the physical functions of ordinary people, in this long century, they would probably not have been able to withstand the prison environment and would have long since perished in this cold cage.

As for the Deputy Commander of the Guard Division, due to his special status as a high-ranking officer of the Guard Division, he was transferred to the more professional and serious Imperial Military Department Court for trial, in accordance with the Imperial judicial procedures.

Li Yang did not participate in the subsequent trial process, as different judicial bodies have their own independent trial systems and jurisdictions.

However, the news that eventually came was astonishing: he was directly sentenced to life imprisonment.

Compared to Xibike and Wu Qiu, his fate was even more tragic; he was originally entrusted with the important task of maintaining the security and order of the Galaxy, but due to a momentary greed, he lost himself and embarked on a path of illegal crime, ultimately ending up with a life sentence, spending the rest of his life in endless darkness and regret, paying the most painful price for his mistakes... In the solemn and majestic trial hall of the Solar System Imperial Court, a similar trial concerning justice and punishment was underway.

"The Solar System Imperial Court, in accordance with the Xili Empire's legal procedures, is now lawfully trying the defendant Wu An."

"After investigation and verification, the defendant Wu An, for a long time, relied on his uncle's position as the Deputy Commander of the Imperial Court of the Trapai Galaxy, and unscrupulously wove a large web of illegal crimes.

He used public power as a tool to seek personal gain, frantically seeking a large number of illegitimate benefits for himself, and in commercial activities, completely disregarded market rules and fair competition principles, maliciously competing with business rivals. Through despicable means such as coercion, inducement, and slander, he forced many legally operating enterprises into difficulties, seriously disrupting the normal market economic order."

"Not only that, the defendant Wu An also disregarded the personal safety and legitimate rights and interests of Imperial Citizens, and carried out a series of heinous violent criminal acts.

He openly and illegally kidnapped Imperial Citizens, imprisoning innocent people to achieve his ulterior motives, causing great physical and mental trauma to the victims. In the process of kidnapping, he further inflicted illegal harm on the victims, with cruel methods and heinous acts, bringing heavy disaster to the victims and their families."

"At the same time, Wu An's criminal acts also involved provoking trouble, wantonly stirring up incidents, disturbing public order, and causing the public to live in fear and unease.

Through forced transactions, he compelled others to engage in commercial dealings against their will, seriously infringing upon others' right to free choice and property rights."

"In accordance with the clear provisions of the Xili Empire Criminal Law, the Xili Empire Citizen Rights Law, and a series of other relevant laws and regulations, after rigorous and meticulous deliberation and review by the collegial panel, the judgment is as follows:

The defendant Wu An is found guilty of bribery, bid rigging, malicious competition, kidnapping, intentional injury, provoking trouble, and forced transaction. For multiple crimes, the defendant Wu An is sentenced to death, deprived of Imperial Citizen rights for life, and all personal property is confiscated."

After the presiding judge finished reading the verdict, the entire trial hall instantly fell into silence.

When the presiding judge's thunderous pronouncement echoed in the trial hall, Wu An's originally composed face instantly turned ashen white.

He widened his eyes, filled with horror and disbelief, and his body trembled uncontrollably.

Originally, in his imagination, even if his crimes were exposed, at most he would receive a life sentence, and he might even have a chance for parole later in prison.

But he never expected that the court would hand down a death sentence, which was like a bolt from the blue, instantly shattering his last glimmer of hope.

"I refuse to accept it! I want to appeal!" Wu An cried out hoarsely, his voice tinged with despair and unwillingness.

He truly could not accept this cruel reality, and his strong will to live instinctively drove him to grasp at the last straw, hoping to appeal for a new trial and reverse this already fated outcome.

However, Li Yang, who had already anticipated Wu An's desperate move, had made arrangements for this.

This was precisely why he insisted on having Wu An tried at the Solar System Imperial Court.

Firstly, at the Solar System Imperial Court, Li Yang, leveraging his influence and prestige, had considerable say and could ensure the fair progression of the trial process within reasonable and legal bounds, while also controlling some key aspects.

Secondly, according to the Imperial judicial appeal procedure, if an appeal was made at the Solar System Imperial Court, the case would be directly escalated to the Galaxy Imperial Court, whereas if an appeal was made after a trial at the Galaxy Imperial Court, it would then have to be submitted to the Inter-Galaxy Cluster Imperial Court.

Although Li Yang had a certain degree of influence and could speak up in both of these levels of courts, appealing to the Inter-Galaxy Cluster Imperial Court, whether in terms of the complexity of the process or the time required, would far exceed appealing to the Galaxy Imperial Court.

Li Yang naturally would not give Wu An the opportunity to live a few more days. Therefore, when the Galaxy Imperial Court received Wu An's appeal request, under Li Yang's impetus, the court immediately rejected the appeal and upheld the original judgment.

The entire process was swift and decisive, with only one day in between. If it had been at the Inter-Galaxy Cluster Imperial Court, according to normal procedures, it would probably have taken several more days.
