512: Um, I'll finish it tomorrow.
"Kesai Long?"
A flicker of unexpected delight crossed Li Yang's eyes, and he abruptly tapped his finger on the desk.
"Even he is involved? It seems the significance of this disc is heavier than we imagined."
He looked up at Bai Luo, his tone becoming more serious.
"Where is the disc now? Is it safe?"
"I'm not sure, but it was still in my office before I was taken away."
"In that case, take us there immediately!"
Li Yang's gaze sharpened, his voice filled with unquestionable urgency.
Seeing this, Li Yang immediately waved his hand, giving a signal.
"Prepare the ship!"
Before his voice faded, he took the lead and strode out. Bai Luo followed closely, and a squad of fully armed Imperial Soldiers quickly fell in behind them. Their footsteps echoed down the corridor, rushing like thunder toward Bianlong Star...
Inside the President's Office of the Yu Beast Association on Bianlong Star.
Several black figures urgently rummaged through the dim light. Drawers were roughly pulled open, scattering files across the floor. One of them urged in a low voice.
"Hurry! Be quick about it. They say the item is hidden somewhere in this room. Search carefully!"
They wore masks, revealing only pairs of vigilant eyes, clearly targeting the disc.
Just then, with a loud "Clang," the alloy door of the office was violently kicked open, and dazzling light instantly flooded in.
"Don't move!"
Several Imperial Soldiers carrying energy guns filed in, their dark muzzles uniformly pointed at the black-clad figures, their voices cold as ice.
The black-clad figures froze instantly, their movements halting abruptly. Even their masks couldn't hide their startled shock.
They never imagined running into Imperial Soldiers at this critical moment.
The lead black-clad figure swallowed, quickly raised his hands, and spoke with a shaky voice.
"We're not moving! Please don't shoot! We were just... passing by!"
Li Yang followed them inside, his gaze sweeping over the chaotic office before settling on the trembling black-clad figures, a cold, sharp curve forming on his lips.
"Passing by? The way you look, I wouldn't say so."
Seeing this, the black-clad figures' eyes instantly dimmed. With slumped shoulders, they gave up any thought of struggling; caught red-handed, there was no escaping now.
Li Yang surveyed the surroundingsthe scattered files, the pried-open drawers, and the lingering tension in the airand instantly understood the situation.
Clearly, someone had targeted the secret before them, but this group had failed to find the crucial item.
He slowly walked up to the office desk, casually picked up the flawless energy crystal resting on it, and toyed with it. His gaze swept over the black-clad figures attempting to shrink into themselves, and he suddenly smiled, his tone as relaxed as if he were making small talk.
"Could it be that you gentlemen were helping to tidy up the office?"
No one dared to answer; only suppressed breathing remained in the air.
Li Yang showed no embarrassment, tapped his finger on the desktop, and continued asking.
"Tell me, did you find what you were looking for?"
After a few seconds of silence, the lead black-clad figure reluctantly raised his head. His face was still smeared with dust, but his eyes held a hint of hopeful chance.
"We... we just took a wrong turn. We don't know what you are talking about."
His voice was tight, yet he stubbornly played dumb.
"Oh? Took a wrong turn?"
Li Yang raised an eyebrow, then suddenly waved his hand behind him.
The Soldier beside him immediately stepped forward, grabbed the black-clad figure closest to the edge, and aimed a light beam from his palm to scan him.
A blue light flashed, and the smart-brain emitted a cold notification sound.
"Identity match failed. Not an Imperial Citizen. No registered information."
"Extraterrestrial Civilizers?"
The smile faded slightly from Li Yang's face, and his tone gained a layer of coldness.
"Trespassing in an office area on Imperial territory, and you still dare to play dumb?"
He looked at the Soldier, his voice decisive.
"Take him away for interrogation. I believe someone will eventually be willing to speak."
The last few words carried an undeniable sense of oppression. The black-clad figure's face instantly changed. Just as he tried to struggle, the Soldier pinned him down, twisting his arms behind his back.
One of them couldn't help but roar.
"You can't do this!"
"Can't do this?"
Li Yang sneered, watching their backs as they were dragged away. His voice was low but clearly reached everyone's ears.
"Mere Extraterrestrial Civilizers, not even Imperial Citizens. Committing illegal and criminal acts, and you still expect human rights?"
The office door was shut again, cutting off the sounds of struggle outside.
"Clean this place up."
He ordered without turning his head.
"Furthermore, add three layers of guards. From now on, nothing in this officenot even a strand of hairis allowed out of sight."
"Yes, sir!"
He Dong quickly contacted command, dispatching more Soldiers.
"Now, go check if that disc is still there."
Li Yang nodded toward Bai Luo, his tone carrying a degree of certainty, though his eyes remained fixed on the seemingly smooth wall.
Bai Luo understood immediately. She quickly walked to her desk, bent her knees to squat down, and after a moment of fumbling under the desk, accurately pressed a raised button embedded in the wood graina soft "click" sounded, as if a mechanism had been triggered.
Without pausing, she stood up and quickly walked to the side wall. Her palm slid slowly along the cold metal surface, stopping at the edge of a wall panel. She pressed down hard with her fingertip.
Following another faint sound of mechanical rotation, a section of the wall quietly retracted inward, then slowly slid open, revealing a hidden compartment just large enough to hold a hand.
The compartment was lined with dark velvet, and resting silently upon it was a silver-gray disc, its edges gleaming coldlythe crucial item containing all the secret accounts.
Bai Luo sighed in relief. She carefully took out the disc, turned, and handed it to Li Yang, her voice carrying a trace of imperceptible tremor.
"It's still here. There are no signs of it having been touched."
Li Yang took the disc, his fingertips tracing the smooth surface, his gaze deepening.
Thankfully, the most crucial item hadn't been lost.
