127: One-hit kill, too weak.

Consultant paused slightly, his brows furrowing tightly!

Normally, in this situation, two young children who had just been rescued should feel the relief of surviving a disaster, even if they weren't crying from fear.

But the two children in front of him not only lacked this emotion but also showed some fear and regret!

What were they regretting?

"B-Brother... big brother, we won't run away again, please don't hit us, okay?"

The older child trembled, protecting the one behind him, looking at Consultant with a terrified expression, and speaking in a faint voice.

This made Consultant even more confused.

Hit?

Wait!

Consultant thought of something, frowned slightly, and carefully examined the two children.

Their clothes were tattered and clearly old, covered in grease stains and dust.

On the corners of their clothes, there were also some bloodstains that had long become indistinct.

Not only that, but Consultant also discovered that these two children had various scars on their bodies!

These scars were both new and old, but they were clearly not caused by magical beast attacks; they looked more like injuries inflicted by humans using tools like whips!

Plus the shackles on their hands and feet.

These two children are... slaves?

But didn't slavery disappear from this world long ago?

Consultant recalled the 'history' he had learned in the academy.

The status of 'slave' certainly existed hundreds of years ago, but it has long since been abolished.

Keeping or selling humans is illegal in any city!

But... this is a City of the Abandoned!

This is a Lawless Land!

Consultant looked at the two trembling children and quickly figured out what might have happened.

"Don't be afraid, I'm not a bad person, and I won't hurt you."

Consultant deliberately put on a gentle expression, softened his tone, and even tucked Black Marsh, who was raising its head and flicking its tongue out of his collar, back inside.

"Can you tell me what happened here?"

Consultant squatted down about a step away from them, not moving any closer.

This action clearly gave them a sense of security.

Although the two children didn't trust Consultant yet, they relaxed slightly.

Consultant was just about to press on.

At this moment, Black Marsh suddenly popped out of Consultant's collar again, leaned close to his ear, and whispered:

"Kid, someone is approaching!"

Consultant's ear twitched slightly, and he immediately noticed that two people were indeed approaching from not far away.

A shout echoed from the ruins nearby.

"Where did those two little brats run off to?!"

"They should be right ahead, I just heard the hunting dogs!"

"Hurry and chase!"

Following the sound, some thick vines were pushed aside, and two figures appeared before Consultant.

They were two men who looked to be in their thirties, unshaven and dirty.

They held swords and knives, looked annoyed, and their eyes lit up when they saw the two children.

"Found them... huh?"

Just as they shouted, they saw Consultant slowly standing up.

The two men froze for a moment, then a sinister grin appeared on their faces.

"Heh heh, another Bounty Hunter. This is truly a big haul!"

"Too bad he's a guy, otherwise... hehehe!"

Listening to the two men's words, Consultant quickly understood their identities.

If these two children were captive slaves, then the identity of these two men went without saying.

And hearing them mention Bounty Hunters meant that the previously missing Bounty Hunters were also connected to them!

"You take care of those two little brats, and leave the remaining Bounty Hunter to me!"

"Heh heh, whatever works. That Bounty Hunter looks like nothing more than a kid anyway!"

After speaking, the two men immediately split up and rushed toward Consultant from two different directions!

Consultant held his sword, standing still, a flicker of light passing through his eyes as he discerned the two men's levels and professions.

One was a Warrior, and the other was an ordinary Swordsman.

Their levels weren't low, both around level forty.

Moreover, in this dilapidated city, their familiarity with the terrain gave them a greater advantage.

But that was true for ordinary Bounty Hunters!

Consultant was clearly not among them!

In this situation, Consultant didn't even need to employ any tactics.

Consultant took in the movements of the two men completely.

He easily guessed their plan from the glances they exchanged.

The idea that one would deal with Consultant and the other with the two children was pure nonsense.

Although they spoke casually, they were actually very vicious.

This was just a way to paralyze their opponent, and it had proven quite effective, as many Bounty Hunters had fallen into their hands before.

But Consultant easily saw through their intentions.

"Hmph, two pieces of trash!"

Consultant sneered as he looked at the approaching Warrior, but his attention was focused on his flank!

The other Swordsman was lurking far away, ready to launch a sneak attack on Consultant.

Facing this situation, Consultant took a step without saying a word, then shook his head.

The Slime perched on his head shifted its body, dropped to the ground, and quickly expanded.

In just a few seconds, it transformed into Consultant's appearance.

This was the Power of Mimicry, which Consultant hadn't used in a long time.

Facing two enemies working together seamlessly, this move was the most effective!

This strange skill made both men freeze simultaneously.

Both of their movements slowed down for a moment at the same time.

And that moment was already enough for Consultant!

He and the Slime stood back-to-back, both holding the same famous sword moon shadow.

Like men in a mirror.

Tsing!

The blade scraped against the edge of the sheath, making a sound like the sigh of the wind.

This sound was exceptionally pleasant, but the resulting power far exceeded imagination!

Two flashes of different colored blade lights suddenly appeared!

One red, one blue!

Blue like crystal, red like fresh blood!

The two blade edges instantly tore through the air, even cutting some cracks into the space itself!

At this moment, the expressions on the two men's faces hadn't even adjusted, and they could only frantically raise their weapons to try and resist!

As the blade energy collided, the two men's weapons instantly shattered!

"Cough! Ha!"

"W-What is this?!"

The two men cried out in disbelief, knocked to the ground by Consultant after just a single exchange.

Although these two streams of blade energy didn't kill them directly, they eliminated their combat effectiveness!

"Duen Dwen, go bring that person over!"

The Slime nodded and walked toward the Swordsman in the distance.

Consultant, meanwhile, walked toward the Warrior.

"W-What are you going to do?!"

Seeing Consultant approach, the Warrior showed a hint of fear on his face, propping himself up with his arms and kicking his legs to retreat, while shouting loudly:

"Kid, I warn you, if you dare touch me, our High Priest will absolutely not let you go!"

High Priest?
