143: Chapter 143 is worth a try.

On the other side.

"Sister Na, what should we do? These Black Iron Cavalry are like ghosts—we can't kill them, and we can't outrun them," Tao Shuishui said, clearly seeing the situation.

She didn't want to take another step into the Black Desert, looking so aggrieved she seemed ready to burst into tears.

"There, there, we'll find a way," Chu Yaoyao comforted her like an older sister.

Gu Na said, "Mhm, let's take it slow. I don't believe they're really that powerful."

"My dear sister, if you're tired, just rest. Let us handle it," Tao Mumu volunteered and stepped into the Black Desert again.

As expected, nothing changed; she was surrounded by the Black Iron Cavalry once more and returned within minutes, unable to hold out.

"Let's go one by one! We'll find a way eventually," Gu Na continued immediately after.

However, her situation wasn't much better. She lasted only slightly longer than Tao Mumu before returning in a disheveled state.

Then it was Chu Yaoyao's turn.

On the other side, Mu Cheng was more clever; he didn't continue to waste energy on meaningless efforts.

"Next... what should we do?" Mu Cheng was completely at a loss, unable to think of a better plan.

Yue Chan thought for a moment and said hesitantly, "Should we try to just push straight through?"

Aside from that, she couldn't think of a better way.

"Fine! If that doesn't work, we'll try flying again." Mu Cheng also felt this method was viable and decided to act on it immediately.

The two stood back-to-back, constantly repelling the Black Iron Cavalry as they began to move forward.

"This method is good, let's keep going!" Seeing a glimmer of hope, Yue Chan's attacks became even more ferocious.

Seeing the situation was off, Mu Cheng quickly warned her, "I say, Sister... save some stamina! Who knows what might happen later?"

This world was very different; stamina was actually consumed. Attacking so fiercely now was no different from seeking death.

Plus, as they moved further away from the City Ruins... they definitely had to be extra cautious and conserve their energy.

"Alright!" Yue Chan realized the issue as well and kept her attacks within a reasonable range.

As the two continued forward for nearly an hour.

Suddenly, the Black Iron Cavalry vanished without a trace, and the area became terrifyingly quiet once again.

"Is that it? We're through? But it looks like there's nothing but desert ahead!" Mu Cheng looked forward in confusion.

Yue Chan said, "There shouldn't be any danger, right? Otherwise, Dun Dun would have been on alert long ago."

Just as she finished speaking... she was immediately proven wrong. Indeed, Dun Dun began its performance again.

"Dun Dun! Dun Dun!"

It became very fierce, looking quite menacing...

"Just pretend I didn't say anything!" Yue Chan was speechless, but there was nothing she could do now.

She could only remain vigilant.

Mu Cheng asked, "Among the Black Iron Cavalry soldiers, a general wouldn't appear, would he?"

His jinx actually came true. As even darker clouds pressed in, a massive figure appeared.

It was also a Black Iron Cavalry, but this one wore golden armor, and both its horse and its own size reached a staggering ten meters.

"Damned humans, all of you shall die!" With an overbearing voice, the Golden Iron Cavalry thrust a golden spear toward Mu Cheng and Yue Chan.

"Let me handle it." Mu Cheng charged forward recklessly with his black gold spear.

But then something strange happened—the Golden Iron Cavalry was actually killed instantly, dissolving into dust and vanishing.

Only its... golden spear remained, and it was now of normal size.

"What's the situation? It seems like I didn't even touch it, and it's already dead?" Mu Cheng was completely stunned.

Yue Chan, having seen everything, didn't bother thinking about it and instead picked up the golden spear to examine it.

"This spear... could it be a Divine Artifact?"

"Let me take a look." Mu Cheng snatched it over, but after studying it for a while, he couldn't figure anything out.

"It shouldn't be a Divine Artifact... I've never heard of a weapon like this before."

Despite having inherited memories, he still couldn't make sense of this mysterious golden spear.

"Why don't you try testing it?" Yue Chan asked slowly.

Mu Cheng instantly understood her meaning. He tossed the golden spear into the air and swung his black gold spear hard against it.

The result... was quite an eyesore. Although the golden spear looked impressive, it was all show and no substance.

It was snapped in half by the black gold spear, then turned into digital fragments... vanishing without a trace.

"Is this a game? Do you think our world will eventually become like this?" Yue Chan suddenly had a bold thought.

Wasn't this just like killing monsters for loot? If it wasn't... there really was no better explanation.

"Isn't it called the Global Survival Game? But thinking about it, it really has started to become gamified. Yet, it's not 'Global Survival' at all," Mu Cheng also couldn't figure it out.

Global Survival? Where was the survival? Cities were being built quickly, and there were many, many ordinary people.

Yue Chan said, "Regardless... for this descending apocalypse to be called the Global Survival Game, it shouldn't be that simple."

"Think about it, so many ordinary people are being protected... Do you think someone is doing this on purpose?"

"When you put it that way, it does make sense. But for now... it doesn't seem to matter much, does it?" Mu Cheng stopped overthinking it.

Yue Chan immediately changed the subject. "I'm hungry, hurry up and get some food so we can keep moving!"

She sounded very much like a pampered little girl...

"Coming right up!" Mu Cheng was indeed hungry too, so he stopped talking and got to work.

On the other side.

"Damn it, what should we do if this continues?" Chu Yaoyao emerged from the Black Desert, already losing her temper.

Tao Shuishui, Gu Na, and Tao Mumu had actually given up long ago. It was no exaggeration to say they were practically on vacation over there.

They were lying on a sofa eating barbecue and drinking 'Happy Fat Boy Water'... letting Chu Yaoyao do all the work alone.

"Hey! Sister Yaoyao, why don't you eat something first before thinking of a plan?" Tao Shuishui called out, not worried at all.

Chu Yaoyao had no choice but to give up. "Fine! I'll eat first... also, aren't you guys being a bit too much?"

"Sister Yaoyao, you've misunderstood us... we've tried every method, and we just can't get through, okay?" Gu Na said reasonably.

Tao Mumu suddenly said seriously, "Wait... Sister Na, what did you just say? Can you say it again?"

"Whatever, let's eat first." Chu Yaoyao took out a sofa, lay down, and started eating.

Gu Na: "We've tried every method?"

Tao Mumu: "Not that sentence."

Gu Na: "Could it be 'we just can't get through'?"

"Yes, yes, yes, that's the one." Tao Mumu thought about it, but she couldn't quite put it into words.

Tao Shuishui chimed in with a question, "What if... we just try to push straight through?"

"That... is a way. We can try it, but let's eat our fill first," Chu Yaoyao agreed.
