161: Chapter 161 The Tiger Clan
In less than thirty minutes, Mu Cheng carved a dark path of blood through the first floor.
He charged straight into the second floor.
“Good grief, the zombies have reached Tier 8 strength. This floor isn't as chaotic as the one above, but none of that matters now.”
Mu Cheng was slightly shocked as he looked around; these were hardly zombies anymore... they were clearly lines of defense.
“This is quite normal. Master, don't forget that Tier 8 Zombies already possess intelligence.” Xiao Yao wasn't surprised at all.
“Forget it... I'll just slaughter my way through.” Mu Cheng didn't take it to heart and continued his direct assault.
It took a full twenty minutes to clear the second floor, but he still arrived at the third floor in what felt like seconds.
“Master, be careful. There are quite a few Ninth-Order Zombies here, and the lowest are at the Seventh Order.” Xiao Yao suddenly gave a serious warning.
“That's not right... the hidden hint didn't show a count. Could it be because these don't pose a threat to me?” Mu Cheng expressed serious doubt.
But on second thought, that made sense. Usually, only things that posed a threat, or things like Traders and treasure chests, were displayed... things that were useful to him.
Just Ninth-Order Zombies... in front of Mu Cheng, it was still effortless. One sword strike per 'child'.
“Master's bloodline suppression is truly perverse. With so many zombies... why not devour them?” Xiao Yao suddenly asked in confusion.
Mu Cheng actually wanted to, but he had been stuck at the Seventh Order Peak for a very long time now; devouring them would be useless.
“I'd like to, but it seems devouring them is of no use.” Feeling quite speechless, he could only make up an excuse.
Xiao Yao: “True, the energy source in Master's consciousness space is continuous; you don't need these at all.”
But then something strange happened. The Ninth-Order Zombies weren't dropping star-glow crystals, but weapons and armor instead.
“What's going on now? Killing mobs to drop equipment? But this armor and weaponry seem completely useless.” Mu Cheng picked up a sword and crushed it with a casual squeeze.
Though it was incredible, the dropped items were utterly useless.
After studying them for a while, Xiao Yao said, “Master, these aren't physical objects; they are energy bodies.”
“energy bodies? Let me see.” Mu Cheng picked up a longsword again and began to study it.
Sure enough, he managed to figure something out. “These are indeed energy bodies... the more I look, the more they resemble a Talisman Array.”
“Why don't you... try to fuse the energy body into a black gold weapon, Master?” Xiao Yao suggested.
“I think that'll work. Let's try it!”
Mu Cheng also thought it was feasible. No sooner said than done, he took out a black gold weapon and actually managed to fuse it in.
However... the black gold weapon suddenly cracked, and the energy body disappeared without a trace.
“It really can be fused... could it be a divine artifact?” Mu Cheng expressed serious suspicion.
No sooner said than done, he took out a piece of million-year-old special metal and began forging again.
In less than five minutes, a green sword was forged by him, and it looked very extraordinary.
Xiao Yao: “Master, this is a semi-divine artifact. I really didn't expect these energy bodies could actually forge a semi-divine artifact.”
“A semi-divine artifact? Whatever... this should fetch a good price too.” Mu Cheng had absolutely no interest in these things.
However, he wouldn't pass up a way to make money. He immediately transmitted information to Gu Na, telling her to collect them all if she encountered any.
Xiao Yao also agreed. “Mhm, semi-divine artifacts aren't actually all that great; they aren't as easy to use as black gold weapons.”
The biggest difference between the two was that one had attributes while the other had none.
As for everything else, they were about the same, but using them... it really was better than having no attributes.
“That's true. While having attributes can increase strength significantly, it also consumes more energy at the same time.” Mu Cheng naturally knew this best.
There were pros and cons, but as a trump card, it was still a good thing.
After another thirty minutes or so, the Tier 8 and Ninth-Order Zombies were all dealt with by Mu Cheng.
He soon descended to the fourth floor.
“This is the Tiger Clan. It looks like the other energy veins also have alien species. In that case, the rumor that the Ancient Battlefield is an ancient prison is true.” Xiao Yao was suddenly shocked.
Even though Mu Cheng was mentally prepared, he still couldn't remain calm. “These alien races... what exactly do they want?”
“It's hard to say. The Tiger Clan is incredibly fierce. Master, you should be extra careful!” Xiao Yao warned.
“Even so, I'll charge in and see what's going on.” Mu Cheng didn't think more on it.
As before, he charged straight in.
Soon, he was surrounded by many Tiger Clan soldiers—humanoid with tiger heads, each wearing black gold armor.
And they all looked particularly fierce...
“These guys are strange... why aren't they attacking?” Mu Cheng was very confused, but he remained extremely cautious.
The Tiger Clan soldiers before him only surrounded him and had no intention of attacking.
“Master... they seem to want to talk to you. Should we wait a bit?” Xiao Yao couldn't be sure either.
“Let's try!” Mu Cheng certainly wouldn't just wait foolishly; he suddenly released his Battle Qi.
It worked as expected. Suddenly, a Tiger Clan soldier stepped forward.
“Please don't do that. We can talk.”
“You should have said so earlier.” Seeing that his goal was achieved, Mu Cheng naturally withdrew his Battle Qi.
In less than ten minutes, all the soldiers suddenly retreated.
Three Tiger Clan members walked over slowly, each wearing gold armor. It was clear their status was unusual.
“I am A Hu. These are A-Mo and A-Ge. You came here for this energy vein, didn't you?” The leader stepped up and went straight to the point.
Mu Cheng asked with some confusion, “Wait... make things a bit clearer first?”
“Well... the fact that you could reach this place proves your strength is not below ours. And of course, the main point is that we are not enemies.” A Hu answered very politely.
“Good grief, he's completely left me with no way to argue.” Mu Cheng found it quite incredible, but he still wanted to clarify things.
“This energy vein... what's the deal? Also, explain clearly what you mean by us not being enemies.”
“These nine energy veins are connected. Besides my Tiger Clan, there are also the Swift Leopard Race and the Fierce Lion Race. As for not being enemies—the enemy of my enemy is my friend.”
Xiao Yao: “Master, still be careful.”
“The enemy of your enemy... is it the Demon God Clan?” Mu Cheng asked again to be sure.
A Hu replied, “No. It can only be said that the Demon God Clan is the greatest enemy, but almost all races in the universe have a grudge against the Human Race.”
“Then... what else is there to talk about?” Mu Cheng was instantly confused by the circular logic.
A Hu laughed and said, “You're quite interesting, kid. The Human Race itself is internally divided, and of course, we are the same.”
“In short, your Human Race and the Demon God Clan are locked in a fight to the death. We are simply choosing which side to stand on.”
