Chapter 152 152: Werewolves On The Move

Vampires and werewolves, for absolutely no reason, have always hated each other, despite both being creatures of the night and moon.

Just like the race of vampires, the race of werewolves also has its own world, known as Vargheim.

Unlike Nightingale, the world of vampires which has three moons and no sun, Vargheim does have a sun and two moons, one smaller and the other larger, positioned on opposite sides of the planet.

Vargheim is not completely shrouded in darkness like Nightingale, as it experiences more than 20 hours of nighttime and approximately 6 hours of daylight.

The world of werewolves, Vargheim, is characterized by freezing temperatures, heavy rainfall, extreme and uneven tides in its seas, and highly intense, unpredictable weather and seasonal changes.

With two moons, eclipses are more frequent and complex.

This type of environment would be completely uninhabitable for ordinary humans, but for werewolves, it is a comfortable habitat.

Werewolves possess high metabolism, extraordinary healing abilities, immense vitality, and extremely durable bodies capable of surviving the most extreme conditions.

Like the vampires and other races, the werewolves do not have a known progenitor and are also on the path to extinction.

In Vargheim, as in Nightingale, there is no king. Instead, the world is ruled by alpha werewolves, with territories divided among them.

However, unlike the vampires, where a noble group called the Five Countesses holds the most power, the werewolves do not have such a ruling elite.

Instead, they are governed by a Council of Alphas, composed of representatives from all alpha werewolf clans.

This council makes decisions on political matters or any issues that affect the werewolf race as a whole.

The council is usually only summoned when something arises that could potentially impact the entire race.

A few days before such an event, something unprecedented occurred: the appearance of a human known as Damian Ignatius.

His arrival marked the first time in hundreds of years that the Council of Alphas was summoned.

At the top of a snow-covered mountain, in the heart of a harsh, frozen land where snow could bury a person even while standing, the night was dark and the ice blizzards howled relentlessly.

At the center of it all stood a castle, half-lost in the storm.

Deep within the castle, past ancient halls and guarded passages, there was a dome-like structure, an ancient council chamber with a massive, round stone table that could seat hundreds of werewolves.

Seated around the table were alpha werewolves, about two dozen of them.

Some appeared young, while others exuded an aura of power so intense it rivaled that of the vampire counts.

"Remind me why we're here again? I mean, what happened that was so important it needed a full council summon?" one of the alpha werewolves asked, her expression tinged with irritation.

"...The Goddess ordered the summoning of the council," another alpha replied, her tone calm and stoic.

"The Goddess?" The moment the word was spoken, every werewolf's expression shifted, serious, alert, almost reverent.

"Why would the Queen Goddess summon the council at this time? Did something happen?" another werewolf asked, unease creeping into his voice.

"I don't know... and I don't exactly have the guts to question the Queen Goddess's judgment," said Sia Silvara, the alpha whose presence was the most commanding among them.

She had grey hair and a muscular build, dressed in a dark suit, with a spear resting beside her.

"Anyway, before the Queen Goddess arrives, let's talk about the human who went to war with the bloodsuckers," Sia continued, gesturing toward the stone table.

It began to glow, and a projection appeared in the air, footage of a war between a lone human and a faction of vampires.

"Is it even appropriate to call him 'human' anymore?" asked another powerful alpha, Alash Lunark, whose presence nearly matched Sia's.

"I mean, he was human... then suddenly he appeared in the war as a high human, and then somehow transformed into a high demon. So what should we call him, exactly?"

"Call him whatever you want, Alash, it doesn't matter. What matters is what he now represents..." Sia continued.

"This human was just as normal as any other human once. And now, he has somehow evolved into a High Human, and even gained the ability to become a High Demon."

"This proves that there is a way, a possibility, to stop this extinction from coming to pass. If he can evolve into a High Human, there must be a way to create more Alpha Werewolves," Sia said, narrowing her eyes as she looked over the two dozen Alpha Werewolves gathered at the council.

"I get where you're coming from... but no offense, this is a long shot. That human evolving into a High Human, he might have just been lucky. I don't really think it means anything as great as you're trying to say," another Alpha Werewolf with long dark hair, named Zor Rughal, said, tapping his clawed finger and creating dents in the stone tablet before him.

"It's still a possibility. Even if there's a small chance that we could save our race, then I'm fully prepared to take this long-shot chance," Sia said, snorting.

"...She's right, though. There's still a possibility that whatever helped that human evolve into a High Human might help our situation. Even if it's a long shot, considering what's at stake, if this works, we could save our entire race from extinction. Shouldn't we take that chance?" Alash Lunark agreed, nodding his giant head.

Following him, a few more Alpha Werewolves also agreed with what Sia was suggesting.

However, one young werewolf's eyes showed anything but agreement, yet he remained silent.

It was not his place to speak in the presence of the god-level powerful Alpha Werewolves.

Compared to them, he was just a pup.

He was none other than Silas Moonrend, the same Alpha Werewolf that Damian had fought in the Power Ranking Battles.

Silas had held the second position before Damian defeated him in humiliating fashion, pushing him back to third.

He still held a powerful grudge against Damian, even though he knew just how powerful that damned human had become.

"So, what do you suggest we do now?" Alash Lunark asked, a grin forming on his face as he glanced at another Alpha Werewolf.

"Maybe we should ask Kiara, after all, her son was beaten to a pulp by that human in the Tower Realm of Solarta, right?"

"Shut up, Alash," Kiara Moonrend snapped, narrowing her eyes as she glared at her son, Silas Moonrend.

Silas lowered his head, gritting his teeth as all the eyes of the Alpha Werewolves turned toward him, looking down on him for losing to a mere human.

"Stop fooling around, Alash. Her son lost to that human because he was weak, nothing more. And it's irrelevant now. We have much bigger things to worry about," Sia said.

Even though she spoke those words, everyone knew she was thinking the same thing: Silas had brought shame upon the werewolves by losing to a human.

The entire Moonrend clan was now being looked down upon, and no one even tried to hide it.

"What do you suggest we do about this human, Sia?" the Alpha werewolf, Zor Rughal, asked, narrowing his eyes.

"...I suggest we make peace with him and ask for his assistance with our problem in exchange for anything he asks, as long as it's appropriate," Sia replied.

"What if he refuses?" Alash asked, smiling slightly.

"...Then we do nothing," Sia said simply.

"Wow. I was sure you'd say something like, 'If he refuses, we'll use force to subdue him,'" Alash said, genuinely surprised.

"I would, if it were a normal person. But this human… he destroyed a noble vampire and hundreds of others like it was child's play. He's also a ruler of Hell. Do you really think we have what it takes to go against a being like that?" Sia asked with a sigh.

Every single Alpha werewolf in the council gathering couldn't help but dwell on her words.

All of them had witnessed the war between Damian and the vampire faction.

They had to admit, none among them could stand a chance against him, not unless they wished for death.

And even death might not save them, since as a ruler of Hell, Damian could torment them for eternity.

None of them wanted that fate.

Suddenly, the entire council gathering fell into silence as each one began replaying in their minds the overwhelming display of power Damian had shown in that war.

"Fufu… Look at you all, so scared. But I suppose it's understandable, isn't it?"

The silence was shattered by the powerful voice of a woman, echoing through the werewolf council hall.

Every single werewolf snapped out of their thoughts, eyes wide in intimidation and fear because they all knew exactly whose voice that was.

A figure appeared out of nowhere, a godly beautiful woman with long, silvery-white hair and a divine presence radiating from her very being.

Her silver eyes swept across the gathering of Alpha werewolves with an amused expression. Instantly, the alphas dropped to their knees and bowed their heads.

"We greet the great Queen Goddess of the Werewolves," they said in unison.

The God-Queen of the Werewolves, known to very few by her real name, Lenora, smiled.

"Let's speak of the matter at hand, shall we?"

Back in the [Circle of Ouroboros] inside the throne hall, all the high humans had completed their transformation and stood before Damian, the pure-blooded human progenitor, awaiting his orders.

All 16 of them.

Damian had already sent two of the high humans, Noah and Cara, back to Midgard in the Norse pantheon to deal with their own matters and get used to their newfound strength.

So, right now, fourteen high humans were standing in front of Damian.

It had been two hours since everyone completed their evolution.

The human progenitor had given them two hours to get a grip on their feelings and bodies.

Turning into a high human, for the first few hours, the high humans would be in a state where their feelings and everything they sense would be greatly enhanced due to the remnants of high vitality energy left from the evolution process.

This energy would take a few hours to completely dry up. Until it did, they would remain in this magnified state.

The new generation of high humans, created by the new human progenitor Damian Ignatius.

The fourteen high humans were: Maria Lucia Augustine, Miriam D'Angelo, Agnes Walker, Anneliese Chapelle, Caitlín Augustine, Hannah Matthews, Helene Claremont, Francesca Claremont, Shiru, Eric Walcrown, Pietro Grimaldi, David Harris, Yuki Nonaka, and Ana Sánchez.

Plus, with the two who are not present in the throne hall, Noah Ravenfang and Cara Ravenfang, the new generation of high humans have finally come into existence.

Ironically, the first race to ever go into extinction in this universe was the high humans, and the first ever race to come back from the brink of extinction was also the high humans.

Damian couldn't help but smile thinking about this.

His smile widened even more as he looked at Maria and her seven adopted sisters.

He had to admit, after they transformed into high humans, they had become incomparably beautiful.

For a split second, he couldn't help but imagine having a harem of such beautiful girls...

But he shook his head because he knew it wouldn't happen.

Maria and her sisters were nuns, and even though with the authority of the human progenitor, he could have them, he wouldn't.

Damian was that kind of man.

Even though they themselves would be more than happy to become Damian's women because he was their progenitor, which meant he was the most compatible mate and lover for them...

Damian didn't like that kind of relationship.

"I should just focus on Elfie."

"She is a strong woman with beauty."

"If she became my woman, I would make her the queen..."

Damian sighed, thinking about a possible future, before shaking his head.
