"You still haven't answered what my role in any of this is," Damian said, narrowing his eyes slightly as he released a speck of his aura, getting the Countesses to focus on the matter at hand.

"Well, as we said earlier, no vampire has the ability to enter the tomb at the center where the future of the vampire race lies, or so it's believed. So until a vampire capable of reaching the tomb appears, the vampires cannot obtain their future," Lillian Brenlith continued.

"Like you said, you are a vampire of your own essence... We don't know if it's possible, but we, no, I, believe that you can somehow walk through the land poisoned with the blood of the Night King, reach the tomb, and obtain the future of the vampires," Lillian Brenlith said with a confident expression.

After a few seconds of letting the Countess comprehend that the human progenitor was now the new master of the Spear of Torment, the spear transformed back into its pendant form around his neck.

Damian spread his senses into the territory of the Blood of the Night King and peeked into the House of the Tomb where the Vampire Progenitor's body was entombed.

But before his senses could reach the inside of the tomb, they were stopped and yanked out.

After that, no matter how much he tried, his senses couldn't enter the territory itself.

It seemed that whatever the Blood of the Night King had become after gaining sentience, it had grown so strong that it could even block Damian's senses in his base form, and in his base form, he had the strength of a low to mid-level god of the Lower Plane.

Damian was trying to get as much information as possible before he even considered stepping into the blood territory.

"It can even block senses?" Damian asked.

"Yes... With the tomb at its center, the Blood of the Night King has continued to expand until it reached about two hundred meters in radius before it formed some sort of domain that it rules as its own."

"Whenever a vampire tries to enter this land of blood, their abilities are almost completely restricted. They cannot escape and end up being devoured by it without mercy," Countess Lillian Brenlith explained.

"Hm..." Damian rubbed his chin, thinking deeply.

He wasn't in any rush.

He had all the time in the world.

He wanted to make sure that by helping the vampires, he wouldn't end up becoming someone who would need help himself.

"When I was trying to assess it, it yanked out my senses, but before it did, I was able to catch a glimpse of what was in there, and it was empty. There was nothing inside," Damian said.

"If there's nothing in there, then what's the point of even trying to get to the tomb of the Vampire Progenitor?"

"It's... hard to explain, because we don't really know what is meant to be found."

"The only thing the ancient text says is that we have to walk the territory of blood and reach the tomb to obtain the future of the vampire race. It doesn't specifically claim that we must get something from the tomb," Countess Amaya Kuroyami said.

"So all I have to do is walk and reach the tomb?" Damian asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Yes," the five countesses nodded simultaneously before everyone went completely silent as Damian went deep into thought.

Damian was cautious by design.

He wouldn't do anything without knowing it wouldn't affect him negatively, and he had to be sure of that.

"Well, let's look at it perceptively," Damian thought.

"No matter what happens, as soon as I step on it, the Blood of the Night King will do its best to devour me."

"But since I'm not a vampire descended from the Vampire Progenitor or have his influence in me, it cannot project its will on me."

"Which means, unlike the countesses, I have the ability to fight back. Then the question is: how much can I fight? How long can I fight back? Can I resist it long enough to reach the tomb?"


Damian took a deep sigh before looking at the two-hundred-meter land filled with thick blood that reflected the red light given off by the giant red moon hanging in the sky.

Any other day, for any other vampire, it would have been a sight to remember but Damian knew what kind of terrifying thing the Blood of the Night King had become.

Damian could sense it.

Even though the Blood of the Night King didn't have a form, it still gave off a very powerful presence.

From the memories of the beings in his [Spiritual Library], Damian was able to assess the presence it emitted and it had reached the level of a higher to god-king level being.

Damian closed his eyes and let his instincts take over.

His instincts had always been on point.

They never let him down.

He trusted them more than his own judgment sometimes.

"It seems even my instincts feel I should do this, huh?" After a few minutes, Damian opened his eyes, revealing an intense golden glow.

Then, as if by command, his whole body began to release an intense golden aura as specks of his [Infinity Essence] surrounded his figure, as if protecting him.

Without a single hesitation, Damian took a step forward, and the countesses watching immediately moved far away to a safe distance from where they could observe without getting caught in it.

Damian, releasing an intense burning golden glow around him, walked toward the tomb and took his first step into the territory of the Blood of the Night King.

As the surface of his foot touched the pool of blood, dozens of ripples were formed and then everything went silent, as if Damian had entered another world.

There was no air, no moisture, no life, only coldness.

Coldness that should have frozen him, but didn't.

After a second, Damian put his other foot down on the land of blood.

Again, normal ripples formed like when a drop of water lands in a bucket, ripples that reached the very edges in every direction.

After a moment, the ripples started to grow more intense, more violent, until the entire land of blood began to quake violently.

The Blood of the Night King, covering the area of a two-hundred-meter radius, began to simmer all over like it was being exploded from underneath.

Damian felt a sort of pressure building up beneath his feet, and the blood, now reaching the depth of his hips, began to grow hotter and hotter.

The coldness he had felt until now disappeared instantly.

As if having a mind of its own, thousands upon thousands of tendrils manifested from the land of blood and shot toward the intruder, trying to force their way into the tomb of the Vampire Progenitor at lightning speed.

Before Damian had time to take his second step, the tendrils were already on him, grabbing his arms, neck, head, and legs over and over again, using an incredible amount of force to try to pull him into the Blood of the Night King.

It was trying to submerge him under its power, to devour him whole and make his blood become a part of it, just as it had done with millions of beings before him.

Damian felt as if hundreds of thousands of bulldozers were pulling him down, along with a creeping feeling that even the world itself wanted him to be devoured by it.

Damian could feel it, the entity that was formed from the blood of the Night King was gaining sentience.

It wasn't just some mindless monster; it also had some sort of mental attack patterns.

And how efficiently it performed…

It wasn't just attacking him physically, but also mentally, trying to break him any way it could.

But this wasn't anywhere near enough to cause harm to Damian.

Still, Damian didn't know if this was the full extent of its power.

Damian didn't even feel any kind of force it was exerting on him now.

In the background, his talents were still working as usual.
