13: Chapter 13 Su Man—A uniquely seductive young woman.
Chen Ming's face turned ashen, choked by Yu Bo's rhetorical question, and for a moment, he was actually speechless.
Lu Yuner was even more thunderstruck. Tears welled in her eyes, and her lips trembled: "Yu Bo, you... how can you say that about me..."
"Am I wrong?" Yu Bo's tone was calm. "Aren't you with him because he buys you things and spends money on you?"
He held the La Perla shopping bag, his gaze sweeping over the clearly brand-new Chanel dress Lu Yuner was wearing and the luxury store bags in Chen Ming's hands.
"But don't worry," Yu Bo continued. "The nature of me being kept is different from the nature of you being kept."
He shook the bag in his hand, which contained over seventy thousand yuan worth of lingerie and pajamas.
"At least the person keeping me," a sliver of a smile curled at the corner of Yu Bo's mouth, "has much better taste than the one you picked."
After saying that, he no longer looked at Lu Yuner's pale face or Chen Ming's distorted expression and walked straight to the counter.
"Check out."
The clerk quickly swiped the card, and the machine made a crisp printing sound. Yu Bo signed, put the pen back on the stand, and then picked up those heavy shopping bags.
The entire process was smooth and seamless, without a hint of hesitation or embarrassment.
He didn't even give Lu Yuner another glance as he turned and walked out.
...
At seven in the evening, Yu Bo parked the car downstairs at the Yin Group on time.
He sat in the driver's seat, looking at his phone. Yin Tianxue had sent a message five minutes ago: "Coming down now."
Outside the car window, the office building was brightly lit, and white-collar workers were constantly walking out after work.
Yu Bo's gaze searched through the crowd and quickly found Yin Tianxue's figure.
She was wearing a dark gray professional suit, her high heels making a crisp sound as they struck the ground. Her long hair was tied in an elegant bun, and her whole being exuded a cold and powerful aura.
But Yu Bo noticed that there was another woman following beside her.
That woman looked to be just past thirty, about the same height as Yin Tianxue, but with a fuller and more rounded figure. She wore a well-tailored wine-red dress that outlined her seductive curves. Her long hair was slightly curled, draped casually over her shoulders, and she had a bright smile on her face as she talked to Yin Tianxue.
When the two reached the car, Yu Bo got out.
"Yu Bo," Yin Tianxue introduced, "this is my Older Female Cousin, Su Man."
"Hello," Yu Bo nodded politely.
Su Man sized Yu Bo up from head to toe, a hint of pleasant surprise flashing in her eyes, and then she laughed: "So you're Yu Bo? Tianxue mentioned you to me. You're much more handsome in person than in the photos."
Her smile was very bright and her voice was hearty, forming a sharp contrast with Yin Tianxue's coldness.
"You flatter me, cousin," Yu Bo pulled open the car door. "Please, get in."
Just as Yin Tianxue was about to get in, Su Man suddenly pulled her: "Oh right, Tianxue, my car is in for maintenance. Can I hitch a ride with you guys? I live not far from your Residence Name."
Yin Tianxue glanced at Yu Bo, and Yu Bo nodded: "Sure. Where do you live, cousin?"
"Jinxiu Tiancheng," Su Man gave the name of a high-end residential area. "It's just two blocks away from your Residence Name."
The three of them got in the car, and Yu Bo started the engine.
In the back seat, Su Man naturally found a topic: "Yu Bo, I heard from Tianxue that you're in investment?"
"Something like that," Yu Bo glanced at her through the rearview mirror.
"That's perfect. I've been wanting to buy some financial products lately. Do you have any recommendations?" Su Man leaned forward, her hand resting on the back of the front passenger seat. "I don't understand these things, and Tianxue is so busy she doesn't have time for me."
As she spoke, a faint scent of perfume drifted over, the kind of seductive fragrance often used by mature women.
From the corner of his eye, Yu Bo noticed Yin Tianxue's brow furrow almost imperceptibly.
"I don't know much about financial management," Yu Bo said. "You can look for a professional financial advisor, cousin."
"Oh, those advisors are all scammers," Su Man laughed. "Acquaintances are more reliable. Tianxue, wouldn't you say?"
Yin Tianxue didn't respond, just looked out the window.
The atmosphere in the car was subtly quiet for a few seconds.
Yu Bo turned the steering wheel, and the car veered into a quiet road.
"Do you live alone, cousin?" he asked.
"Yeah, I'm divorced," Su Man's tone was relaxed. "I'm with my daughter. She's six this year and very cute. I'll bring her over to play next time."
Yu Bo saw through the rearview mirror that when Su Man said this, her eyes glanced toward Yin Tianxue, intentionally or otherwise.
Yin Tianxue was still looking out the window, her profile lines tense.
"We're here." Yu Bo parked the car at the entrance of the Jinxiu Tiancheng residential area.
Su Man pushed the door open and got out, then turned back to Yin Tianxue: "Tianxue, tomorrow is Saturday. Should I bring Wenwen to your house to play? She's been nagging about wanting to see her aunt."
Yin Tianxue finally turned her head: "I have plans tomorrow."
"What plans?" Su Man blinked. "A date?"
Yin Tianxue didn't answer.
Su Man smiled: "Alright then, I won't disturb you two. Yu Bo, thanks for driving me back."
She turned and walked toward the main gate of the residential area, her wine-red skirt swaying with her steps, her figure graceful from behind.
The car started again and headed toward Residence Name.
The silence in the car was somewhat oppressive.
"Your cousin is quite enthusiastic," Yu Bo spoke first.
"Mhm," Yin Tianxue responded, her tone cold.
Yu Bo turned his head to look at her: "Are you unhappy?"
"No."
"Jealous?"
Yin Tianxue finally turned to look at him, a hint of annoyance in her eyes: "Yu Bo!"
"Okay, okay, I'll stop," Yu Bo laughed and reached out to hold her hand. "But seriously, your cousin... is quite feminine."
Yin Tianxue immediately pulled her hand back: "You like that type?"
"I like your type," Yu Bo looked at her. "The cold and aloof kind that, at first glance, keeps people a thousand miles away."
Yin Tianxue glared at him, but the corners of her mouth turned up slightly.
"But seriously," Yu Bo said, "is your relationship with your cousin not good?"
Yin Tianxue was silent for a few seconds: "She's my maternal aunt's daughter. We grew up together."
"And then?"
"She used to..." Yin Tianxue paused, "steal the people I liked."
Yu Bo raised an eyebrow: "When was this?"
"University," Yin Tianxue said. "A senior I liked for two years; she had him in three days."
"What happened after that?"
"After that, they dated for a month and broke up," Yin Tianxue's tone was calm. "She just enjoys the thrill of stealing things. Once she has them, she loses interest."
Yu Bo glanced at her through the rearview mirror: "So you're unhappy because she just..."
"I'm not unhappy," Yin Tianxue interrupted him. "I just... don't like the way she looked at you."
Yu Bo laughed: "What look?"
"The kind of..." Yin Tianxue seemed to be searching for the right word, "evaluating look. Like she's sizing up a commodity."
The car drove into the Residence Name underground garage.
Yu Bo parked the car and turned to look at Yin Tianxue.
"Then what about you?" he asked. "What kind of look did you have when you first saw me?"
Yin Tianxue was stunned for a moment.
Yu Bo leaned in and whispered in her ear: "Was it also an evaluating look?"
Yin Tianxue's face turned red, and she pushed him away: "Don't talk nonsense."
"Then I'll change the question," Yu Bo looked at her. "If your cousin really wanted to steal me, what would you do?"
Yin Tianxue stared at him, her gaze gradually turning cold.
"I would let her know," she said word by word, "that some things, she cannot steal."
Yu Bo laughed, very satisfied with this answer.
He unbuckled his seatbelt, leaned over, and lightly imprinted a kiss on Yin Tianxue's lips.
"Don't worry," he said. "I only like tough nuts to crack. Things that are too easy to get are boring."
Yin Tianxue looked at him, and the coldness in her eyes gradually melted away.
She proactively leaned in and kissed him back.
