162: Chapter 162 You Created a Biohazard to Sell Houses?

Following the previous chapter, Manager Zhang went mad.

His eyes were bloodshot, like a gambler who had lost everything down to his underwear.

"You refuse a toast only to be forced to drink a forfeit! You forced my hand!"

Manager Zhang roared wildly in his mind. "System, switch modes for me! Dump all the remaining Shock Value into it, activate the highest-Advanced disaster horror effects!"

"Since the immortals can't save this game, let's use the apocalypse to reshuffle the deck."

The sky outside the sales office went completely black.

It wasn't the darkness of a cloudy day, but a deathly silence where you couldn't even see your own fingers.

The white mist that had been drifting around instantly turned into a thick, blood-red color.

The pungent smell of blood mixed with the inferior perfume from before, making anyone who smelled it gag.

The intermittent thunder from the speakers turned into shrill wails and the sound of fingernails scratching at a door.

The elderly men and women who were just shouting for refunds froze.

Manager Zhang climbed onto the highest display platform in the sales office, holding a microphone, his voice hoarse and frantic.

"Foolish Mortals! The Spiritual Vein has been polluted by your greed, and now the gates of Hell have opened!"

"The apocalypse has arrived!"

As soon as he finished speaking, countless withered, rotting hands reached out from the blood-red mist.

The floor tiles of the square outside the sales office were pried open, and one by one, ragged "zombies" with rotting flesh on their faces crawled out, twisting their bodies.

They let out eerie low growls, dragging their broken limbs as they slowly approached the sales office lobby.

Combined with the realistic AR holographic projections in the air, the entire Cloud Top Palace residential area instantly turned into the set of a Resident Evil movie.

A few timid homebuyers wet their pants on the spot, collapsing to the ground and scrambling away.

"Help! Zombies are eating people!"

"Run!"

Manager Zhang stood on high, watching the panicked crowd, and a surge of ecstasy rose in his heart again.

This was it.

Fear was humanity's most primal purchasing power.

"Everyone, don't panic!" Manager Zhang raised his hands and shouted, "Cloud Top Palace is the only blessed land that possesses an ancient defensive array! As long as you pay for the house now and enter the residential area, these monsters won't be able to hurt you!"

"To survive, what is money? Hurry up and swipe your cards! They're only selling for 150,000 per square meter!"

Under the influence of fear, a few muddled wealthy businessmen actually took out their bank cards, trembling as they prepared to swipe them on the POS machine.

Gu Changan stood where he was, unmoved, watching the scene of demons dancing outside, and couldn't help but sigh.

"The makeup is indeed quite good, and they were generous with the fake blood. Pity, they didn't bring their brains."

Gu Changan waved his hand.

"Chen Xiaobei, go get the military-grade infrared thermal imager from our car and connect it to their big screen."

Chen Xiaobei moved extremely fast, pulling out a black device and plugging it into the sales office's display terminal.

The 100-inch LED screen, which had been playing promotional videos of the residential area's landscaping, flickered and changed to an infrared thermal imaging view.

On the screen, those "zombies" stumbling around the square all appeared as bright red and yellow.

Those were the normal body temperature characteristics of living people.

Gu Changan picked up a loudspeaker and turned it to maximum volume, his voice drowning out the wails from the speakers.

"Everyone, open your eyes and look at the screen. Zombies are dead, and dead people don't have body temperature."

"Manager Zhang, in order to sell houses, not only bought projection equipment but also hired quite a few extras."

Gu Changan stared at the thermal imaging on the big screen and suddenly pointed to a red dot in the upper right corner.

"That zombie brother over there in the red clothes, hiding behind the money tree in the landscaping. Yes, that's you."

"Playing on your phone in a pile of dead bodies, the screen reflection is leaking out; you're not taking the special effects seriously at all. Manager Zhang, this extra isn't professional, you should deduct his wages, right?"

The sound of the loudspeaker echoed across the square.

The red-clad zombie who was called out shuddered violently, quickly stuffing his phone back into his pocket, his rotting flesh makeup looking extremely awkward.

The air suddenly went quiet.

The zombies who were originally crawling forward desperately all froze.

Everyone looked at each other, and no one took another step forward.

The atmosphere of panic was like a pricked balloon, instantly leaking away completely.

A large zombie man with a prop axe stuck in his head stood up, ripped off the silicone mask on his face, revealing a sweaty face.

"Damn it, I'm not acting anymore! It's too hot!"

The big man pointed at Manager Zhang on the high platform and shouted loudly.

"Boss Zhang! We agreed on three hours of acting for payment, and now it's been four hours! You didn't even provide a meal!"

This shout triggered a chain reaction.

More than two hundred zombie extras took off their headgear, tore off the rotten rags on their bodies, and walked out of the blood-red mist.

They didn't care about zombie walks anymore, switching to an Aura-filled and menacing stride, and directly surrounded the sales office completely.

"Pay up! Two hundred a day, if you're even a cent short, I'll smash this sales office today!"

"That's right! Give us the money! Otherwise, we'll really bite you to death!"

Manager Zhang looked at the dark mass of extras demanding wages below the stage, his legs going weak, and he almost fell off the display platform.

"System! Give me more special effects! Blow up this mob of unruly people demanding money!"

Manager Zhang urged frantically in his mind.

A cold, mechanical voice came from his mind.

"Warning. Host's balance is insufficient. Shock Value has been cleared to zero. Cannot purchase special effects material library. System energy exhausted, forced into hibernation."

Manager Zhang twitched all over, as if his spine had been pulled out, and fell to his knees on the display platform with a thud.

Gu Changan held the loudspeaker, his tone flat.

"Everyone, by all means, demand your wages, but line up and don't resort to violence. If you do, it becomes a brawl."

"Manager Zhang, how are you going to clean up this mess? Why don't you perform a zombie eating a living person yourself to pay off the wages?"

"They've already gone crazy over there!"
