89: Chapter 89 The Player Hiding Behind the Scenes? Your IP Address Has Been Exposed
The air in the basement was stiflingly turbid, a mixture of the smell of aged mold and the lime dust kicked up when they had broken in just moments ago.
Dozens of red laser aiming beams, like the gaze of the Grim Reaper, converged densely upon Zhao Feng, bathing his pale face in a deep crimson glow.
Zhao Feng leaned his back against the cold wall, his legs trembling uncontrollably. He stared fixedly at the man in uniform standing before him with an indifferent expression, wheezing like a broken bellows.
He did not understand.
He had clearly exchanged for the most Advanced [Breath Concealment Cloak] from the Main God Space, and had even spent a small fortune purchasing a [Karma Shielding Card].
By all logic, even with a Cultivator's Divine Sense scan or the highest precision radar detection, he should have been nothing more than non-existent air at this very moment.
"You... how did you find me?" Zhao Feng's voice trembled, filled with intense disbelief. "I shielded all my presence! Even thermal imaging shouldn't be able to see me!"
Gu Changan stood three meters away, the black baton in his hand tapping rhythmically against his palm, producing crisp sounds. He did not answer immediately, but instead looked up and down at this Reincarnator who fancied himself noble, with the gaze one might use on an illiterate person.
"Presence? Thermal imaging?" Gu Changan shook his head, his tone filled with mockery and a sense of disappointment. "What year do you think it is? Still playing with that metaphysical stealth nonsense?"
He raised his hand and pointed at the Main God watch on Zhao Feng's wrist that was still emitting a faint blue light.
"You think you are summoning monsters, but in our eyes, you are simply performing a massive data upload."
Gu Changan pulled a tablet computer from his pocket and swiped it a couple of times; the screen clearly displayed a huge red peak graph.
"Every time you initiate a summoning program, this watch transmits an extremely high-frequency wave signal to specific spatial coordinates. That signal strength is even more blinding than a searchlight in the dark night within our full-spectrum monitoring network."
Gu Changan paused, a cold sneer tugging at the corner of his mouth: "It's just like stealing something and hiding in the bushes, but holding a megaphone and shouting 'I am here'. Honestly, it would be hard not to find you."
"Impossible! This is high-dimensional technology from the Main God! How could you natives possibly crack it!" Zhao Feng roared hysterically, the fear in his eyes gradually transforming into madness.
His worldview was collapsing. The System he took pride in, the Main God technology he regarded as divine, had been reduced by this man to nothing more than some Elementary radio communication malfunction.
"Natives?" Gu Changan's eyes turned cold as he took a step forward. "In my view, you guys who only know how to rely on the System and don't even understand basic physics are the truly uncivilized savages."
"Don't come over!"
Zhao Feng screamed and abruptly thrust his hand into his bosom.
Since stealth was useless, and since he couldn't escape, he would fight! He still had a [Pulse Burst Gun] he had exchanged for in his hand; with just one shot, he could blast this damn civil servant into dust!
His movements were fast, the speed of one who had undergone genetic enhancement. The black muzzle rose instantly, pointing straight at Gu Changan's brow.
"I have System protection! I am immortal!" Zhao Feng's face twisted as his finger slammed down on the trigger.
Bang!
A gunshot rang out, clean and crisp.
But this gunshot did not come from the burst gun in Zhao Feng's hand, but from the sniper who had been silent behind Gu Changan.
No one had even seen when Gu Changan gave the order, nor had anyone seen how he had raised his hand.
Zhao Feng only felt a tremendous impact on his wrist, followed immediately by excruciating pain. The alien technology pistol was knocked away instantly, tracing a parabola through the air before slamming heavily onto the ground, shattering into scattered parts.
"Ah!" Zhao Feng shrieked, clutching his blood-soaked wrist as he staggered backward.
Bang!
A second gunshot followed immediately.
This time, the bullet precisely pierced through Zhao Feng's right knee.
The sound of shattering bone was exceptionally harsh in the enclosed basement. Zhao Feng didn't even have time to scream before his whole body collapsed as if his bones had been removed, and he fell heavily to his knees.
The intense pain caused him to lose all ability to resist instantly; cold sweat poured out like a waterfall, soaking his clothes in an instant. He curled up on the ground like a boiled shrimp, twitching in agony.
Gu Changan walked forward expressionlessly, his black leather shoes making dull sounds as they stepped on the dusty floor.
He walked up to Zhao Feng, raised his foot, and unceremoniously stepped on his remaining uninjured wrist, pressing down with slight force.
"Ahhh—!" Zhao Feng let out a howl like a slaughtered pig, his face contorting into a ball from the pain.
"According to the 'Anti-Terrorism Law' and 'Endangering Public Safety'," Gu Changan looked down at him, his tone as cold as if he were reading an autopsy report, "you deployed biological weapons in a downtown area, caused numerous casualties, severely damaged public facilities, and created social panic."
Gu Changan bent down, staring into Zhao Feng's bloodshot eyes: "Zhao Feng, your crimes are enough to drag you to the execution ground and shoot you ten times over, and it would have to be with a Gatling gun."
"I did it for the Main God! This is a mission! This is a trial!" Zhao Feng roared, spit and cold sweat flowing into his mouth. "What do you Mortals know! This is evolution! Survival of the fittest is the Law of the Universe! You are just NPCs! You are expendable materials!"
Even now, he remained immersed in that sense of superiority. In his view, killing a few natives didn't count as a crime at all; it was merely a necessary loss for completing the mission.
"Evolution?"
Gu Changan sneered, as if he had heard some huge joke.
"Treating innocent civilians as expendable materials, relying on external power to wantonly slaughter the weak—this is not called evolution, this is called atavism. This is worse than being an animal."
He straightened up and fished a pair of handcuffs gleaming with a silver metallic luster from his waist. These were not ordinary handcuffs; their surface was engraved with dense, intricate runic circuits, and they were [spirit-suppressing handcuffs] specifically designed to restrain those with special abilities.
"If the so-called 'Main God' only teaches you this, then it is nothing more than a slightly more Advanced garbage disposal station."
Click.
The cold handcuffs locked onto Zhao Feng's wrists.
In that instant, Zhao Feng felt the energy that had been active within him being drained away as if by a water pump, vanishing without a trace in an instant. His connection to the Main God System was completely severed; even that virtual panel would no longer pop up.
At this moment, he had completely reverted to a Mortal. A cripple with a shattered knee and severely injured wrists.
"Take him away."
Gu Changan waved his hand, and two Special Police officers wearing exoskeleton armor immediately stepped forward, hauling Zhao Feng up as if dragging a dead dog.
"Send him to the lowest level of the Earth Core Prison, solitary confinement, twenty-four-hour bright light exposure." Gu Changan added indifferently as he took off his gloves, "Oh right, lock him next to that Rubik's cube. It's perfect to let him be neighbors with that shy little cutie."
Hearing this, Zhao Feng, who had still been struggling and cursing, suddenly froze.
What was locked inside that Rubik's cube?
That was Containment-096! The monster that would pursue you to the ends of the earth if you even glanced at its face!
Although the monster was currently spatially folded, who knew if that kind of Law power would seep out through the cube? Locking him next to that kind of thing was even more terrifying than killing him!
"No! No!"
Zhao Feng's face turned deathly pale in an instant, his pupils constricting violently; this was true, deep-seated fear from the depths of his Soul.
"Don't lock me there! I don't want to hear it cry! I don't want to die! I beg you! Send me to a normal prison! I'll go to jail! I'll go work on a sewing machine!"
He twisted his body desperately, trying to break free from the Special Police's grip, his face smeared with snot and tears; there was no longer any trace of the arrogant aura of the "high-dimensional player" from just moments ago.
"Too late."
Gu Changan didn't even glance at him, turning and walking outside. "This is the 'survival of the fittest' you pursued. Now, you are the one who has been eliminated."
The shrill screams echoed in the basement, gradually fading away.
