19: Chapter 19 Taking the Initiative

After letting the second spy go, Wang Jie knew he couldn't wait any longer.

King Kong had already sent two groups of people. The first was to test the waters, and the second was for infiltration. The third would likely be an all-out attack.

He had to strike first and seize the initiative before King Kong could make a move.

He gathered all his combat units and held a pre-war meeting.

"On King Kong's side, there are about seventy or eighty people with over thirty guns," he said. "On our side, we have forty soldiers, five tanks, and one infantry vehicle."

He paused for a moment.

"In terms of numbers, we are fewer. But in terms of firepower, we are much stronger."

He spread a map out on the table—it was drawn by Chen Xue, marking the detailed layout of King Kong's camp.

"King Kong's camp is located at Factory Building No. 13 in the Industrial Park. It's a four-story building surrounded by a wall, with sentries at the entrance."

He pointed to several key locations.

"Our plan is as follows—"

He explained the operational plan once through.

The tanks would attack from the front to draw fire.

The infantry would infiltrate from the sides to take out the sentries.

The Snipers would occupy the high ground to provide cover for the assault.

The Special Squad—composed of Heavy Soldiers—would charge directly into the core area to capture King Kong alive.

After finishing his explanation, he looked at the soldiers.

"Any questions?"

No one spoke.

"Good," he said. "Move out."

The convoy moved through the night without lights, the only sound being the roar of the engines.

Wang Jie sat in the lead tank, observing the road ahead through night-vision goggles.

The Industrial Park drew closer and closer.

The abandoned factory buildings looked exceptionally eerie under the moonlight.

"Stop the vehicles," Wang Jie said.

The convoy came to a halt.

He jumped out of the tank, walked over to the infantry vehicle behind it, and knocked on the window.

Chen Xue poked her head out from inside.

"You stay here," Wang Jie said. "Wait for our signal before coming in."

Chen Xue nodded. "Be careful."

Wang Jie smiled slightly. "Don't worry."

He returned to the tank and said to the driver, "Move out."

The five tanks restarted and drove toward the factory building where lights were visible.

They reached Factory Building No. 13.

The sentry at the gate was smoking when he suddenly saw several behemoths charging out of the darkness; he was so startled he dropped his cigarette.

"Ene—Enemy attack!"

Before he could finish shouting, the tank opened fire.

A shell scored a direct hit on the sentry tower, causing the entire structure to collapse.

The other four tanks charged at the gate, smashing the iron doors to pieces.

Chaos immediately erupted inside the factory.

King Kong's men rushed out from every corner; some held guns, some held knives, and some were still pulling up their pants.

But what greeted them were the tanks' machine guns.

"Da-da-da-da—"

The 12.7mm heavy machine gun bullets mowed them down like grass, as the thugs fell row by row.

At the same time, gunfire erupted from the sides—the infantry had begun their move. They vaulted through gaps in the wall, taking out the enemies hiding behind cover.

The Snipers took up positions on the roof of a three-story building, looking down from above to specifically pick off the leaders trying to organize a counterattack.

Everything was proceeding according to plan.

Wang Jie climbed out of the tank and, leading a few Heavy Soldiers, charged into the factory building.

It was even more chaotic inside.

People were everywhere, guns were firing everywhere, and screams could be heard everywhere.

But Wang Jie had only one target—King Kong.

Following the information provided by Chen Xue, he fought his way up to the fourth floor.

There was a large room there with two bodyguards standing at the door.

Seeing Wang Jie, they immediately raised their guns.

But the Heavy Soldiers were faster than them.

Two shots, and the two bodyguards fell to the ground.

Wang Jie kicked the door open and rushed inside.

Inside the room, a burly bald man was standing by the window, a pistol in his hand.

He was stunned for a moment when he saw Wang Jie, then he smiled.

"You're that Wang Jie?"

Wang Jie looked at him. "And you're King Kong?"

King Kong nodded and raised his gun.

"Come on, let me see how tough you—"

Before he could finish his sentence, Wang Jie fired.

The shot hit the hand he was holding the gun with.

The pistol flew out of his hand, and King Kong screamed, clutching his hand.

Wang Jie walked over and stood before him.

"Your men are finished," he said. "Your territory is gone too."

King Kong gritted his teeth and stared at him fiercely.

"Who the hell are you? Why the hell are you attacking me?"

Wang Jie looked at him and remained silent for a second.

Then he said, "Because you bully women."

King Kong was stunned for a moment.

"Because you beat survivors."

He was stunned again.

"Because you treat humanity as the enemy."

King Kong suddenly laughed.

The laughter was hideous and crazed.

"Humanity?" he said. "Is there still humanity in the apocalypse? They're all zombies! Sooner or later, everyone will be a zombie!"

Wang Jie looked at him with cold eyes.

"Then we'll just have to wait and see."

He said to the soldiers behind him, "Take him away."

King Kong was escorted out.

Wang Jie stood by the window, looking down at the battlefield below.

The gunfire had already stopped.

His men were clearing the scene, treating the wounded, and collecting spoils of war.

This battle was won.
