Chapter 152 Angelina's Tea Party 21
A bomb, of course, was not an offering. After all, it was only natural to burn gold, silver, treasures, beautiful wives, concubines, and sturdy male Servants for one's ancestors underground. Burning a few surveillance cameras could be explained as wanting peace in the household, but what was the deal with burning a bomb?
One couldn't exactly expect their ancestors to rise up in rebellion and change the dynasty down there, could they?
Even if Lin Xiangjun had wanted to buy one, those Paper offering shops didn't have any in stock.
She had bought this bomb on the Forbidden APP.
It was no empty boast that the Forbidden APP had everything; forget bombs, even if you wanted to buy planes or cannons, it was just a matter of how much underworld currency it would cost—these things were strictly regulated in China, but that wasn't the case in America.
If you could buy these things from them during times of peace with enough money, there was no reason you wouldn't be able to buy them just because the apocalypse had arrived.
Lin Xiangjun thought as she charged forward.
This bomb really was useful; she'd have to restock a bit more when she got back.
There were quite a few Black Bow Tie Servants, at least thirty by the look of it.
A dozen or so fast ones were blocking the doorway, but Lin Xiangjun took them out with a wave of bombs. The remaining dozen or so were scattered in the hallway; though they weren't caught in the explosions, they were quickly taken down by Lin Xiangjun with two stabs of her knife.
Lin Xiangjun didn't aim for any instantly fatal spots; those Servants were still alive, and at the very least, they wouldn't die within the next five minutes.
4:31 PM.
Lin Xiangjun pushed open the door to Angelina's bedroom.
The room was still as messy as when Lin Xiangjun had left—half of the canopy on the large bed in the center had been torn down, the quilt was half-draped on the floor, and tapestries and paintings had been ripped down and thrown on the ground, while the ornaments meant for the floor had been tossed onto the bed.
Everything was in disarray, and the room was dim. The details were hazy and unclear, like a horror scene in an escape room, eerie and somber.
The Ivory Jar sat squarely on the table.
However, in the pitch blackness, a writhing black snake was coiled around the surface of the Ivory Jar, its body reflecting the light from the doorway. The snake's tail hung in the air, twisting and swaying gently.
Looking closer, what snake? It was clearly a length of long hair, constantly growing and writhing!
Lin Xiangjun got goosebumps from her head to the soles of her feet.
When it came to hair, you only wished you had more when it was on your own head, but as soon as it fell off, it was disgusting no matter where it landed; you'd even want to use a tissue just to pick it up from the floor.
Let alone the fact that this hair belonged to someone else!
Even more disgusting!
Unfortunately, time was tight, and Lin Xiangjun didn't even have time to be repulsed by it.
She dashed to the desk and slashed fiercely at the writhing hair—
It didn't break.
Not only did it not break, but as Lin Xiangjun looked closely at where she had just struck, she confirmed there was only a shallow dent; perhaps the outermost few strands had been slightly marked.
At this rate, if she wanted to cut through this thing, it wouldn't be possible without an hour or so.
Something that a sharp knife couldn't cut meant that she couldn't use brute force to break the situation, much like how an escape room required a specific item to progress.
What did she need?
Before Lin Xiangjun could figure it out, the head of the Hair Snake coiled around the Ivory Jar suddenly reared up and hissed at her twice in anger. Its head was held high, its tongue flicking in and out; even though it was a creature made of hair, Lin Xiangjun thought she saw a bit of liquid dripping from its fangs—
This snake is poisonous too?!
Before Lin Xiangjun could react, the snake's head lunged to bite her hand that was holding the knife.
Lin Xiangjun's knife tip flicked upward with lightning speed, interrupting the snake's trajectory and catching it mid-air. From its wide-open mouth, venom sprayed from its two fangs and landed on Lin Xiangjun's arm, instantly burning two large holes in her sleeve.
This thing is a spitter? How devious!
The venomous snake missed its bite, its body rearing high and its head lowering as its tongue flicked rapidly, clearly plotting its next attack.
Lin Xiangjun had a slight headache.
She hadn't known when she was scouting the place that this tea canister actually had a guardian beast. This instance was entirely about free exploration from start to finish; she had gone through the whole house and basically figured out the general course of events, but she hadn't seen any NPC come over to give her an item.
...Wait.
A flash of inspiration struck Lin Xiangjun, and she pulled a silver butter knife from her pouch.
She had gotten this from the dining room. She had originally wanted to take a jar of sugar cubes, but taking them had triggered an [Ordinary Rose Sugar] notification, so she had touched everything once, which triggered the [Ordinary Silver Butter Knife] notification.
This silver butter knife wasn't made of hard material and was very difficult to use for cutting things; she hadn't figured out what she could use it for at the time.
Now, she knew.
When the Hair Snake opened its mouth wide and lunged at her again, she swapped her sharp knife for the silver butter knife and slashed hard at the snake's vital spot.
This time, like a knife through butter, the snake's head was completely severed with a smooth cut and almost no resistance.
As expected.
A slight curve appeared at the corner of Lin Xiangjun's mouth. The butter knife flipped in her hand like a butterfly; having found the right method, the Hair Snake was sliced into small sections like duck necks in a few strokes.
She successfully obtained the Ivory Jar.
Now that she had both the sugar cubes and the tea leaves, she immediately turned and ran toward the tea room.
However, the moment she picked up the tea canister, the bed canopy that had been hanging precariously finally gave way and fell down completely.
Lin Xiangjun instinctively glanced over, and her breath hitched.
On the large bed that was originally empty, a person was now lying in the center, though she hadn't known when they arrived.
It was Angelina, wearing a dark green evening gown.
But her once fair and smooth skin had now become slightly wrinkled, like a vegetable leaf wilted from dehydration. It looked as if countless insects were writhing beneath her skin, with black shadows darting through. Her vitality seemed to have been sucked dry by those insects, leaving her looking quite listless.
Lin Xiangjun's gaze shifted downward.
On her dark green dress, dark red patterns resembling blood vessels began to spread. The color of the dress seemed to deepen, and its overall texture became stiff as if it were pulsing... as if the entire dress had come to life.
[2. The mistress, Lady Angelina, loves dark green. If you see dark red patterns resembling blood vessels appearing on her dress, do not make a sound, and immediately praise her pearl necklace.]
4:33 PM.
Lin Xiangjun took a deep breath and said loudly, "Oh, my Lady, this string of pearls on your neck is a handful of moonlight that has fallen upon your throat. They are so round and full, like a rainbow, like congealed fat, like satin, like silk, like the pages of a book, like a seashell, like the shells of braised prawns, like the bones of steamed crucian carp, like the gravy of Four-Joy Meatballs—"
