Chapter 32 Who Am I 31

That night, the Eerie Parents were still persistently pounding on the door, using all sorts of unoriginal words to try to lure Lin Xiangjun into breaking the rules.

Lin Xiangjun didn't move; she lay in bed, pondering why the Eerie Parents were not punished when they broke the rules.

Is it because the rules for the Eerie are different from those for humans?

Even the basic rules of the residential complex are different?

Could she get hold of the rules for the Eerie to take a look? Was this action necessary?

Where exactly was the problem with the clue from the trash can? Was there some metaphor she hadn't understood?

There was much to consider at night, and with the Eerie Parents pounding on the door for an unusually long time for some reason today, the noise was very annoying, which resulted in Lin Xiangjun not sleeping well tonight.

With slightly heavy dark circles under her eyes, she couldn't help but sigh.

Today is the third day of the instance.

The food prepared for the "friend" at the door remained untouched.

Although she knew that no one would likely eat today's food either, Lin Xiangjun still divided the food in half before leaving, placing one portion at the door and throwing her own portion into her purse.

Upon going down to the fourth floor, Zhuo Xing was blocking the stairwell like a ghost.

...Lin Xiangjun shed a bitter tear for her own level of bad luck.

Yesterday, Wang Min went downstairs first, and Lin Xiangjun happened to run into Wang Zixuan; today, she learned from the experience and went downstairs first, only to run into Zhuo Xing again.

Very good, very good; fate is standing behind her peeking at her cards, right!

Lin Xiangjun was first helpless, then somewhat surprised.

She had thought that with such a big commotion yesterday, Zhuo Xing should have died long ago. When she went downstairs, she was even considering whether to sneak into 404 to see if she had missed any clues that Zhuo Xing had given her.

But since he was still alive now, Lin Xiangjun could only abandon her plan with a slight sense of regret.

"What, didn't expect me to still be alive?" Zhuo Xing grinned. His voice had completely changed; it sounded like a saw cutting through wood—sharp, grating, and somewhat familiar.

It sounded like the cry of that monster-like cat.

Lin Xiangjun thought about it for a moment and knew which rule he had broken.

She raised her eyebrows in surprise.

She wasn't surprised that Wang Zixuan had given the ham sausage to Zhuo Xing; after all, the three of them had been together all along, and it wasn't strange for them to exchange information and share items.

What she found strange was that Zhuo Xing had actually broken the rule—it was best not to feed the cat ham sausage. She seemed to have reminded Wang Zixuan about this, right? Hadn't Wang Zixuan told him?

Did he not say it, or did he say it and the other person didn't listen?

"Don't look at me with that gaze!" Zhuo Xing dragged out his voice; it sounded like a saw slowly cutting through wood, long, sharp, and seemingly unable to stop.

Lin Xiangjun had no intention of paying him any mind.

She planned to investigate 104 during the day, check the trash can again in the afternoon, and on the way back, visit the Garden to find that old man who kept bumping into the tree and demand some clues.

Today's tasks were heavy. With only all of tomorrow and most of the day after left, and still no lead on the core clues, she herself was anxious.

Seeing that Lin Xiangjun was about to leave, Zhuo Xing stood up abruptly.

"What right do you have to leave? You made me like this; don't you feel guilty? If it weren't for you, I would still be fine right now. How could I possibly die in the instance?!"

Although Lin Xiangjun knew in her heart that the logic and thinking of heavily polluted people had already been distorted and mutated and could not be compared to normal people, she was still shocked by this person's logic.

She really wanted to know what kind of bullshit was going on in Zhuo Xing's water-logged brain.

He didn't know what kind of stupid thing he had done to get himself into this ghostly state, and now that he was about to die, he was blaming her? With this kind of blame-shifting, he should go make Indian flying pancakes!

This instance was really something—forbidding swearing, forcing her to keep all the profanity in her stomach, making her feel like her internal organs had gotten quite dirty.

Once she got out, she had to find someone to have a good cursing session with to vent, otherwise it would give her internal injuries.

Lin Xiangjun walked past him and rolled her eyes unceremoniously: "Who else can you blame for your own self-destruction?"

Who knew that when Zhuo Xing heard her words, instead of getting angry, he clapped his hands and laughed wildly: "You broke the rules! You broke the rules! You're going to die too, you're going to die too!"

Lin Xiangjun: ...

Lin Xiangjun, having been played by a lunatic, felt the fire in her chest burning even more intensely.

It looked like he already knew the rule that one couldn't shout in the stairwell, so he deliberately stood at the stairwell entrance to provoke her. Since he wasn't inside the stairwell, he wouldn't be punished even if he shouted.

A very clever scheme—compared to what happened at the window last night.

If it were someone else, they might really have fallen for the trick and been caught by that Stair Ghost. Even if they were lucky enough not to be polluted, they would not be able to avoid the fate of being injured.

But, who do you think you are talking to?

Lin Xiangjun was just worrying yesterday that the Stair Ghost had run away and she hadn't given Patrick Star an extra meal!

So what if the Stair Ghost came? She was actually afraid it wouldn't come!

Zhuo Xing clapped and laughed wildly for a while, but when he lowered his head, Lin Xiangjun had already walked past the stair corner. He only managed to catch a glimpse of the corner of her sportswear before she disappeared.

Zhuo Xing was horrified.

Then came deep jealousy.

Why? Why was Lin Xiangjun fine when she broke the rules, while he ended up in this state when he broke the rules?!

...

Downstairs, Lin Xiangjun and Wang Min had already agreed that Wang Min would continue to come forward to attract attention, while Lin Xiangjun would use the Invisibility Cloak to sneak into the room to look for clues.

However, the situation with Sun Tao was somewhat different from that of Qin Jianyuan, so the excuse was also different.

Wang Min knocked open the door. The person who opened the door was a woman with a worried look on her face. She was different from Han Yi; although Han Yi was haggard and aged because of Qin Jianyuan's disappearance, her family background was good, her clothes were neat, and she looked decent overall.

This family was obviously very poor. The clothes on the woman were dirty and old, and the colors were dim; it was clear they were discounted wholesale clothes from the roadside, three for ten yuan.

"Who are you?"

"It's like this, my younger sister is Sun Tao's classmate. It was her birthday a few days ago, and Sun Tao gave her a gift. I didn't take it seriously at first, but today, when I saw the gift, I was startled."

As Wang Min spoke, she took a small gold ring out of her bag.

"I went to ask someone at a jewelry store about this, and they said it was pure gold. I was worried that he might have secretly taken this from home, so I hurried over to return it."

The woman's gaze landed on the gold ring, and her breathing suddenly became rapid: "Oh my, this is ours, the wedding ring of his father and me! It's been missing for the past two days, and we've been searching the house for it. Thank you for making a special trip to bring it over."

As the woman spoke, she reached out to take it, but Wang Min suddenly pulled her hand back. She looked at the woman guardedly: "You call Sun Tao out first; I want to speak to him face to face."

"Sun Tao went to stay at his grandparents' house these past few days..."

"Then do you have any photos or pictures of Sun Tao at home? I didn't see the child, and I'm worried about recognizing the wrong person..."

...

At the door, Wang Min and the woman exchanged words back and forth. Inside the room, Lin Xiangjun had already nimbly searched Sun Tao's room. When she came out, she saw that the door to Sun Tao's parents' room was open. Her footsteps paused, and she turned and slipped inside.

This Cleaner was a key suspect, and there might also be clues in his room.

Since she was already here, she might as well take a look.
