73: Chapter 73 Shanghai Martial Arts University
The aircraft traveled through the clouds for a day and a night.
During the journey, they encountered several attacks from exotic beasts, but Teacher Xue Muhan easily killed them all.
As the first ray of dawn pierced the horizon, the sight outside the window made everyone except Teacher Xue Muhan hold their breath.
Modu Base City.
It was a super city many times larger than Jiangbei. A continuous expanse of skyscrapers reached into the clouds, like a forest of steel extending to the edge of the horizon.
Above the city, countless aircraft shuttled back and forth like a swarm of bees, while colorful spiritual pattern Formations enveloped the entire city in a faint shield of light.
In the very center of the city, a massive institution occupied an entire district.
Modu Martial Arts University.
"We have arrived."
Teacher Xue Muhan steered the aircraft to land slowly.
Through the porthole, Han Ming saw the full view of Modu Martial Arts University. Within the campus spanning tens of thousands of acres, buildings of various styles were distributed in an orderly fashion.
There were antique palace-style pavilions and modern glass-walled buildings. The most eye-catching feature was the massive black tower in the center of the campus that soared into the clouds, its surface shimmering with mysterious spiritual pattern light.
That must be the Trial Tower.
The aircraft landed on a designated landing pad. After Teacher Xue Muhan led the four of them off, she waved her hand and stored the aircraft into her storage space.
"Teacher Xue!"
A staff member wearing the uniform of Modu Martial Arts University walked up and bowed respectfully. "You have returned. Are these the new students from Jiangbei?"
"Yes," Teacher Xue Muhan nodded. "Arrange their admission procedures."
"Understood." The staff member turned to Han Ming and the others, smiling. "Students, please follow me."
Teacher Xue Muhan glanced at the four of them and said indifferently, "Handle everything from here on yourselves. If there is anything important, you can find me at the Mentor Building."
After speaking, she turned into a streak of light and disappeared into the horizon.
"This way, please."
The staff member led the four of them through the campus, introducing the buildings along the way.
There were many students coming and going on the road. Seeing Han Ming and the others looking like country bumpkins, some cast curious glances, while others curled their lips in disdain.
"From Jiangbei? Never even heard of it."
"Coming from a small place, they probably don't even know what points are."
"Don't say that; they were at least brought back by Teacher Xue personally."
"Teacher Xue recruits from everywhere every year; it's nothing rare."
The whispers reached their ears. Lin Fan's expression darkened slightly, and Li Xuewei looked a bit uneasy. Gong Shuting's expression remained unchanged, as if she hadn't heard anything.
Han Ming, however, smiled indifferently.
This reaction was perfectly normal. Local Modu students looked down on those from out of town, and students from key high schools looked down on those from ordinary ones. Isn't this just the campus version of a hierarchy of contempt?
But he didn't care. It wouldn't be long before these people would know whether those from Jiangbei were capable or not.
The admission procedures were handled quickly. Registering information, verifying identities, and recording Qi signatures—the entire process took less than half an hour.
"These are your identity badges. Please keep them safe! This is not only your student ID but also your points storage card. You will need it for consumption, exchanging for Cultivation Techniques, and resources."
The staff member handed the four crystal cards to Han Ming and the others, then led them to the accommodation area.
"Next is dormitory allocation. Dormitories are divided into six levels: ten-person rooms, four-person rooms, double rooms, single rooms, suites, and villa areas."
"Ten-person rooms are ten points per month, four-person rooms are thirty points, double rooms are fifty points, single rooms are one hundred points, suites are five hundred points, and villa areas range from one thousand to ten thousand points."
"Of course, the more expensive the price, the more Advanced the Cultivation Formation installed inside. Your initial points as freshmen are one hundred, and you can choose the dormitory level yourself."
"Let's take a look at the single rooms first," Han Ming suggested.
The staff member nodded and, not feeling bothered, led them to the dormitory area.
Receiving new students also earned points; it was one of her duties.
The single room was not large, about twenty square meters, containing a bed, a desk, a wardrobe, and a small Cultivation room.
The Cultivation room was engraved with a basic Spirit Gathering Formation, and the concentration of Spiritual Qi was twice as high as outside.
Li Xuewei looked at that Cultivation room, her eyes lighting up. "Cultivating here is much faster than outside!"
Lin Fan looked around and nodded. "Not bad."
Gong Shuting did not express an opinion, but judging by her expression, she was also satisfied.
"Then let's go with the single rooms," Han Ming decided.
The four of them each chose an adjacent dormitory, swiped 100 points with their identity badges, and received their room cards.
The group said goodbye to the staff member and returned to their respective rooms.
"Not bad, small but fully equipped."
Han Ming looked around his room and sighed.
It was much better than his college dormitory in his previous life.
He put down his luggage, tidied up a bit, and then picked up the freshman manual on the bedside table to read.
The manual detailed the various rules and regulations of Modu Martial Arts University, with the points System occupying nearly half of the content.
The more he read, the tighter Han Ming's brows furrowed.
Dining in the cafeteria started at one point per meal, with no upper limit.
Entering the library to read cost 10 points per hour. There were no Cultivation Techniques or Martial Skills in the library; they were all ordinary books, along with encyclopedias such as Exotic Beast Catalogs, Humanistic Records, and Spiritual Plant Illustrated Guides.
The points for exchanging Martial Skills were even more expensive; Yellow Rank Cultivation Techniques and Martial Skills ranged from one hundred to one thousand points; Profound Rank Cultivation Techniques and Martial Skills ranged from one thousand to one hundred thousand points; Earth Rank Cultivation Techniques and Martial Skills started at one hundred thousand points.
As for Heaven Rank, the manual did not introduce them, but Han Ming estimated they certainly wouldn't be cheap.
However, being able to exchange for them with points was already much better than the situation outside, where they were priceless and unavailable.
Outside, one basically couldn't buy Cultivation Techniques and Martial Skills above Earth Rank. Even if some occasionally leaked out, the price was not something an ordinary person could accept.
Therefore, this was also the benefit of entering the Martial Arts University. As long as you were a Genius and worked hard enough, you had the opportunity to obtain any Cultivation Technique or Martial Skill you wanted.
Han Ming continued reading.
For the use of Cultivation rooms, the ordinary level cost one point per hour, the Profound level cost five points, the Earth level cost twenty points, and the Heaven level cost fifty points.
For one-on-one guidance from mentors, depending on the mentor's Rank, it ranged from ten points to one thousand points per hour.
Clearing the Trial Tower for the first time granted points, but repeated challenges did not award points.
The grade ranking tournament was held once a month. Only the top one hundred received points as a reward; the first place received thirty thousand points, while the one hundredth place only received a pathetic three hundred points.
Han Ming closed the manual, his mouth twitching.
"Is this fucking going to school or working a job?"
One hundred points looked like a lot, but what could it actually be used for? Living in a single room for a month and it would be gone; he wouldn't even be able to afford to eat.
He suddenly had a bad premonition.
He checked the time; it was almost lunchtime. Han Ming called Lin Fan and the others to go find the cafeteria together.
Modu Martial Arts University had five cafeterias, scattered throughout the campus. The four of them chose one nearby and walked through the gate, immediately stunned by the sight before them.
Where was this a cafeteria?
It was simply a food city.
Dozens of windows were lined up, with chefs busy behind each one. The air was filled with the aroma of various exotic beast meats; just smelling it made one's Qi and blood faintly churn.
"This aroma..." Li Xuewei swallowed her saliva. "Just smelling it makes me feel my Qi and blood rising."
Lin Fan's eyes also lit up.
Han Ming walked to a window and looked up at the menu.
Then his smile froze.
Ordinary Set Meal (Rank 1, 2 Exotic Beast Meat): 1 point
Standard Set Meal (Rank 3 Exotic Beast Meat): 5 points
Exquisite Set Meal (Rank 4 Exotic Beast Meat): 10 points
Deluxe Set Meal (Rank 5 Exotic Beast Meat): 50 points
Premium Set Meal (Rank 6 Exotic Beast Meat): 200 points
Damn it, below that there were even King-Rank and Emperor-Rank set meals, and the points were sky-high; they were simply not something they could afford.
At the very bottom was a line of text: This cafeteria does not accept cash, only points payment is supported.
The group glanced at the points on their identity badges and looked at each other in silence.
The one hundred points awarded for enrollment had already been used for rent. Now, they didn't have a single point, so how the hell were they supposed to eat!
"What do we do now?"
Li Xuewei looked at Han Ming and asked, looking somewhat troubled.
"Yo! A few country bumpkins, out of money for food?"
Before Han Ming could speak, a mocking voice came from the side.
