She bowed gracefully, her pale features solemn. "Lord Satou. It’s an honor to meet you properly this time."

"The honor is mine, Lady Morgana," Satou replied, returning the bow with equal respect. He turned to Loki, his brow furrowed. "I thought you said you’d return tomorrow with training materials. Seeing you back this soon, something urgent must have come up."

"It has," Loki confirmed, his voice serious in a way that immediately put everyone on edge. "I’ve found a way for you to get significantly stronger in a very short time. But I need to be honest with you, Satou. It’s extremely dangerous. You might not survive the attempt."

The room went silent.

Satou felt the weight of multiple gazes on him. Kelvin’s eyes were wide with alarm. Lyra’s hand had unconsciously moved to her mouth, covering it as if to hold back a protest. Urgak’s single eye narrowed, his expression calculating the risk versus reward.

They all knew what he was going to say. Satou could see it in their faces, the resignation mixed with fear. They knew him well enough by now to predict his answer.

He smiled, trying to project a confidence he didn’t entirely feel. "Don’t worry. I’ll be fine and come back as always. But this time, I’ll be stronger. Strong enough to protect everyone here, to beat Richard Clay, and to prove I deserve that demon lord seat."

"Satou," Lyra said quietly, her voice thick with emotion. "You don’t have to do this. We can find another way. Train conventionally. Ask other demon lords for help."

"We have one week," Satou replied gently. "One week before I face someone who’s killed multiple heroes. Conventional training won’t be enough. You know that. I know that."

Satou turned back to Loki, squaring his shoulders. "So please, tell me. What is this way to get stronger?"

Loki pulled out a rolled parchment from within his coat, spreading it on Lyra’s desk. It was a map, old and yellowed with age, showing what appeared to be a mountainous region marked with ominous symbols.

"There is a dungeon," Loki began, his finger tracing a location on the map. "Located in the Screaming Mountains, about two days’ travel from here by conventional means but with Morgana portal we can reach it in seconds. It’s called the Dungeon of Eternal Nightmares, and it’s existed for at least three thousand years. Maybe longer. No one knows who created it or why."

"What makes it special?" Urgak asked, leaning forward to examine the map.

"It’s a very dangerous dungeon," Loki explained. "Unlike most dungeons which are just monster nests or treasure vaults, this one was specifically designed to test and enhance those who enter it. The deeper you go, the harder it becomes. But more importantly, the dungeon has a unique property. Time moves differently inside."

Satou’s eyes widened. "Time dilation?"

"Exactly," Loki confirmed. "One day outside equals approximately ten days inside the dungeon. Which means if you spend the entire week in there, you’ll effectively have seventy days to train, fight, and grow stronger."

"That’s," Lyra did the math quickly, "over two months of training compressed into one week. That could make the difference."

"It could," Loki agreed. "But there are significant dangers. The dungeon is notoriously deadly. It adapts to whoever enters it, creating challenges specifically designed to push them to their absolute limits. Many who’ve entered have never returned. And even among those who did return, most came back broken in mind or body."

"How many have successfully cleared it?" Satou asked.

Loki’s expression darkened. "In the last thousand years? Three people. Three out of hundreds who’ve attempted it. The success rate is less than one percent."

"Those odds are terrible," Kelvin said, his voice cracking slightly. "Big brother, you can’t seriously be considering this."

"What happened to those three who succeeded?" Satou asked, ignoring Kelvin’s protest.

"They became legends," Loki said simply. "One of them was the hero who eventually killed the previous Demon Lord of the seventh seat. Another became a demon lord himself, now holding the fourth seat. The third, well, she’s human and still alive, running one of the most powerful adventurer guilds in the western continent."

"So success means guaranteed power," Satou said slowly. "Power enough to fight at demon lord level."

"Yes," Loki confirmed. "The dungeon breaks you down completely, forces you to overcome your absolute limits, and if you survive, you emerge fundamentally changed. Stronger. Faster. More skilled. It’s like compressed decades of combat experience condensed into weeks."

"But most people die," Urgak pointed out bluntly. "And the ones who don’t die sometimes wish they had. This isn’t just dangerous, Loki. It’s potentially suicidal."

"I know," Loki said. "Which is why I’m giving Satou the choice rather than just dragging him there. This is his decision to make."

Satou looked around the room at the people who’d become his family in this world. Lyra, trying to hide how terrified she was behind a professional facade. Urgak, calculating risks with his military mind but clearly worried. Kelvin, looking like he wanted to physically stop Satou from agreeing. Morgana, who didn’t know him well but whose expression showed sympathy for what he was facing.’

"What are my alternatives?" Satou asked. "Realistically, what can I do in one week of normal training that will let me beat someone who kills everything he touches?"

"Nothing," Loki admitted. "Conventional training won’t bridge the gap. Richard Clay has centuries of experience. Your only advantages are your unique abilities and your capacity to adapt. The dungeon would sharpen those advantages to their absolute peak."

"Or kill me in the process," Satou said.

"Or kill you in the process," Loki agreed. "But Satou, if you fight Richard Clay as you are now, you’ll die. That’s not pessimism, it’s just reality. His Decay ability counters most combat strategies, and he’s skilled enough to exploit any opening. The dungeon is a risk, but it’s a risk with a potential payoff. Fighting Clay without additional preparation is just guaranteed death."

The words hung in the air, harsh and undeniable.

Satou closed his eyes, thinking. This was it. The moment where he had to decide if he was truly committed to this path or if he’d been fooling himself about being able to lead, to build, to change things.
