Chapter 245: Some kind of god.

Everyone stared at Lee as he suddenly fell to his knees, a sword piercing through his abdomen from one side to the another. Nevin, standing to his left, had plunged his weapon in while all eyes were on Lee. Now, he grabbed the spark from Lee’s hand, and brought it to Seren whose expression transformed into a wide grin as the flames died down around him.Lee’s and Nevin’s duo wasn’t that eye catching, but people had noticed them before, thinking the two were friends. Seeing how one decisively stabbed the other, and without batting the eye switched the sides, filled everyone with disgust.

Seren, though, happily accepted the spark, and it vanished as he hid it in his spatial treasure.

"Not bad, not bad." He contently said, and Nevin happily smiled in return.

Both knew that even if Nevin was only one person, him switching sides drastically turned the tides. It was unlikely anyone would dare to attack, and likely considered the possibility of their fellow hunters back-stabbing them as well.

It took a moment for Lee to get accustomed to the stinging pain, but it wasn’t the worst he had ever experienced. In fact, it somehow lessened the inner turmoil he felt after cooking Jordi’s hand.

He obviously was caught off-guard, but contrary to the rest, wasn’t shocked by Nevin’s action. In fact, Lee felt like slapping himself, knowing he had to have guessed a possibility like this. The guy’s man-crush was too obvious.

For a normal person the wound would most likely be lethal. The through-and-through stab damaged multiple vital organs, but Lee knew that his water spark had fixed larger damage than this, and that he would be fine the next morning, provided he had the chance to stabilize the elements during the night.

He could’ve let the event play out now, but Nevin provided him with an opportunity he couldn’t pass. Even if it would hurt him even more, Lee had to take the chance he was given. In the eyes of the rest he was a dead man, and he had to use it.

"You!" He angrily shouted, coughing up another mouthful of blood. Nevin unconsciously took a half step back, but then straightened, realizing Seren was next to him.

Lee slowly, with much difficulty got back to his feet, trying to keep his balance while heavily swaying from side to side. Then, accompanied by the gasps of onlookers, pulled the sword out from his side, clearly damaging his innards even more. It was obvious he had made peace with the inevitably approaching death, but intended to use the last bits of strength to punish the back-stabber.

But the next part forced everyone to blank out.

"You said you loved me!" Lee cried out in pain, "You said I had such a round butt ... but I always knew you wanted to go back to sucking Seren’s dick again! You’re just like the rest ... all of you want to suck him off ..."

He half-spoke, half-wailed while taking weak steps toward Nevin, swaying with every move. And no matter how unbelievable he sounded, the honestly they were spoken with proved they were undoubtedly true. These were clearly Lee’s last words, and he spoke them in undisguised pain.

"Disgusting!" Seren shouted, and with a wide swing beheaded Nevin who stood next to him, but that was the last move he made in his life.

The next moment Lee seemingly disappeared from the spot, and appeared three yards further, in front of Seren, his sword stabbing right in Seren’s neck. The picture was frozen for a heartbeat, no one believing their eyes. The previously dying man’s burst of speed, lunging himself forward with an elegant thrust, wasn’t slower to the previous ambush that took Jordi’s hand. In fact, it might’ve been even quicker.

But it didn’t end there. Before anyone realized what happened, Seren’s head blew up like a water melon, raining brain matter on his attacker and his goons who stood behind him. They had hard time registering what happened, just like the group of hunters.

Unfortunately, this was the best Lee could do. The explosive use of the wind energy created chaos inside of him, and half-inch wide cuts split open across his body, profusely bleeding. He didn’t lose consciousness, but fell to the ground, pretending to die on the spot. The rest was up to the group of hunters, and Elred didn’t let him down.

He was the first to react and the water elemental master fell to his sword the moment Lee hit the ground. The earth elemental master tried to escape, but there were a couple of wind experts who cut him down a few breaths later.

The crippled wind elemental master was the last to die, horrified seeing how his boss and buddies were slaughtered. And while the hunters technically won in the end, everyone knew this had been a tragic event. Out of two hundred and fifty people only twenty were left, many heavily wounded.

Well, there was the twenty first as well.

Hearing everything was over, Lee pushed himself up, and under the shocked eyes of the rest, sat cross-legged in a meditative position.

"May I ask for a favor?" He weakly said.

"Speak." Elred said. When they first met, he humiliated the young man, but there weren’t many elemental masters who were capable of what Lee did.

"Could you grab a gourd of water from this ring and pour it on my head?" Lee asked.

"Sigh, you heard his last wish! Do it!" Elred said to a hunter standing next to him, but at his words Lee’s eyes sprung open. Elred held a sword in hand, preparing to relieve

Lee of his suffering.

"What the fuck is wrong with you!" He cursed, "What last wish?! Just wash me and bandage afterwards! I’ll be fine!"

Elred was taken aback, but then sighed, and said, "Your wound is lethal, and you have lost too much blood. Maybe an expert water elemental lord could save you at this point, but we’re helpless to do anything about your condition, buddy! Your deed was heroic and we’re grateful, but ..."

"Don’t even think about it!" Lee angrily said, but then took a deep breath, and lifted his palm. In the center of it, a faint mist of water particles appeared, a moment later twisting in a tiny tornado, and then disappearing.

"I’ll be fine in the morning!" He said. It hurt to speak, but it wasn’t much worse than usual, "Trust me. It’s not the first time I was stabbed!"

Elred didn’t really believe him, but complied nevertheless. The remaining people also took care of their wounds, and afterwards searched the area, gathering the spatial treasures of their fallen colleagues.

Technically, the survivors had become rich. After splitting the possessions of over two hundred people, everyone now had multiple spatial artifacts and a small pile of sparks. There weren’t many happy faces, though. Most had lost a friend during the encounter with the flea-like old god, and they left the place with heavy hearts.

After gathering the valuables and taking care of their wounds, the group left. It was clear that the place was basically a feast for the insects that will swarm over before the sunrise, and the safe choice was to find a spot to camp for a day or two.

"Who exactly are you?" Elred asked Lee after putting him down.

He was the one who carried Lee after the youth was patched up. Three others, including the wind elemental master who ambushed Jordi, couldn’t walk on their own as well, but instead of stretchers found themselves on the backs of others.

"Lee, nice to meet you." Lee joked, knowing well what Elred was asking.

"Fire, wind and water?" Elred said, ignoring Lee’s attempt to change the subject, "How is it possible for you to use multiple elements? I bandaged you myself and I’m positive you don’t have the scars of an elemental warrior."

"Sigh ... the old god we killed also wasn’t an elemental warrior." Lee said.

"So you’re some kind of god?" Elred snickered.

"I don’t know what to tell you." Lee said, "It’s complicated."

"Try me! I’m a pretty smart guy, you know?" Elred said.

"Yea ... do you have the old god’s spark?" Lee asked, "Can you show it to me?"
