Chapter 295 295: Death Threat.

Leo heard the notification and his brain went into hyper analysis mode. The first thing he did was to bring Lily back to the house, where he rushed to his study and checked the dark web to find out if there has been a hit placed on him. However, there wasn't any murmur going on.Then he picked up his phone and called Markus. The call was connected in a blink and the latter asked, "Sir, what is going on?"

Leo asked, "I was feeling uneasy, I checked the dark web to see if someone made a move, but I didn't find anything apart from a news that Silent Shadow had been seeking around news about Death Gaze."

Markus immediately reacted and said, "I will look into it, give me ten minutes."

Leo disconnected the call and waited patiently to hear from Markus while he issued the high alert for the guards looking after Snow and Anastasia. Thinking about the people who were close to him, the young man also made a call to Fragrance.

The call was connected and the young lady asked, "What's going on?"

Leo asked, "Are you safe? Where are you?"

From the last incident, Fragrance had also become very alert and she replied, "I am in the court, it is safe here. What happened?"

Leo shook his head and replied, "Nothing, just acting paranoid. I will send Zeenat to escort you home. Don't go anywhere else."

Fragrance agreed, to her Leo was her elder brother and his words were supreme. She would follow them without any question. She was an orphan and to her the people who meant family were above anything else.

With the family covered, Leo thought who could be making a move against him. Lily came over to find him in the study, but she sat down silently when she spotted him lost in his thoughts. She had no idea what he was thinking about but it was something serious since he didn't notice her entering the study.

Ten minutes passed, and Leo's phone rang. The young man reacted with a reflex and picked up the phone and on the other side, Marcus said, "Sir, it has been confirmed. Someone is asking around about you. The hit was placed by a warlord of Dead Sea. They wish to avenge their humiliation."

Leo frowned and realized that Markus was avoiding taking names. He asked, "Could it be keyword triggering?"

Markus hummed and said, "What shall we do now?"

Leo thought and said, "We don't have any biometric data to confirm who it could be, well, they must be acting smartly."

Markus nodded and replied, "How about I come over for a consultation?"

Leo replied, "Well, sounds like a good idea, I will book a slot soon. See you then."

Markus nodded and the call was disconnected. Leo then looked at his daughter who was gazing at him with great curiosity. She asked, "Baba, why were you taking in such an weird pattern?"

Leo smiled and replied, "It was to throw off some people who might be listening to what I was talking about."

He stood up from his chair and moved over to Lily as he asked, "What made you come over?"

Lily put her arms around his neck and said, "You, Sir, have not eaten anything yet and it is bad manners."

Leo smiled and picked her up in his arms as they both moved downstairs to have some lunch. After that, Lily got busy with her homework and she was kept company by Symphony and Momo, the cat queen.

Leo sat in the living room to not arouse any suspicion in the mind of his little goblin and he was reading an encrypted report on his mobile. It was the history of the person called Silent Shadow. He was the top ranking assassin in the world. People never even found the targets he killed in his life. He was that thorough.

Another thing that caused the people to fear this guy was the fact that none has ever seen him. The only way to confirm that the target has been taken down was to notice the missing complaints and no movement. Leo found this intriguing, and analyzed the situation in depth and found that the person had only failed once in his life.

This happened when Silent Shadow took on the task to deal with the defense minister of a nation, but the latter managed to leave a critical injury on the assassin. This guy was stabbed in the liver and his stomach was cut open. Even in that condition, this man managed to leave the place with a big fire behind him to destroy anything that could lead to him.

Looking at the year when this happened, Leo decided to put on the detective hat. Such wounds needed to be taken care of at a critical level. Even if Silent Shadow left the place of incident, he would still have some pain or ailment for which he might have sought out a doctor.

Such underground doctors were not hard to find out. They were ex cons who started to offer their services to some special clients and earn big. So, tracking that would be impossible. Another thing would be the marks left on the body being mentioned on the passports. However, even that was not guaranteed, because such things could be treated by plastic surgeons.

Thinking about the wound Leo decided to take a gamble and looked at the world's best plastic surgeons. He didn't know the nationality of Silent Shadow, so he began to go through all the records managed by these people. He focused only on abdominal surgeries. He didn't eliminate women from the list because it was not necessarily a man who would be strong.

On the contrary, there were higher chances that a man would keep the scar as a memory than a woman who would like to look good. Leo looked into the details and shortlisted many patients. However, after tracking them down, he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Their injuries were caused by various reasons and they led normal lives.

His computer skills could now rank in the top ten of the world. So, these things were not hard for him. After three hours, he looked at three case files. Then he did something that was even trickier. To make sure that he didn't miss out on the threat, he went through the archives of the airline companies.

They had stored the data of the people who ever travelled through their companies. Leo used a sophisticated face matching software to skim through huge data, and only when the sun was about to set he found out the details. Then he matched the dates of the killings with the dates these people travelled and right before dinner he found the target.

Leo leaned back in the chair looking at the face on the screen. He mumbled, "So this is why they call you the shadow. The lady had only a few original pictures, while the rest were all disguises. She had several of them and some were used to travel only. Leo tilted his head and set up an alert prompt to ping him as soon as these faces are registered throughout the national security camera feed.

Then he called Markus, and said, "Come over by the first flight tomorrow. We have something important to discuss."

Markus was surprised and replied, "Yes, Sir."

With that, Leo had decided to deal with the person called Silent Shadow. Then he looked at the profile of the person who placed the hit on him. It turned out to be a warlord who had made a deal to give them a free passage in the past but then turned back on the terms and caused them to move from an alternative path.

Leo sighed and said, "I didn't want to pay any thoughts to you useless creatures, but since you have asked for it, I will handle you after this assassin."

Leo came down for dinner, and Snow asked, "What is going on? Why are the guards looking around with such intensity today? Did something happen?"

Leo nodded and replied, "There has been a death contract issued against me. However, I know who the person is. She won't be making out of here alive if she dared to come."

Snow frowned and then sighed as she asked, "Who did it? Bishop Primal or someone from Luger family?"

Leo shook his head and replied, "None of the above. Some warlord from the Dead Sea, he feels that we betrayed him by taking an alternative path the last time. Well, don't worry, those scourges would be cleaned up to earn some good karma for the little one."

Snow looked at him and said, "Why do I feel like your children get more love than me?"

Leo chuckled and hugged her close and said, "Had I not loved you, would we even have children?"

Snow squinted her gaze and said, "I am warning you, if you ever tried to place me second, I will beat you up."

Leo nodded and then kissed Snow's nose before they turned to see Lily holding her forehead and saying, "These adults and their kisses, they never see the place or the time."

The people chuckled at her expressions and turned in for the night.
